This is quite a good little Halifax branch. It's rarely got a long queue even at lunchtime, but when it does they have someone going down the queue asking if they can help, and redirecting people to cash machines. This can actually get a little annoying if you definitely need or want to speak to someone at the desk and you're dragged out of the queue, but it's great if lots of people leave the queue in front of you! The staff are knowledgeable and patient, and I've seen them dealing with all sorts of irate customers. I wouldn't say they're chatty or friendly, but it's not the sort of environment for that anyway.
There are 3 cash machines inside the building and a couple outside. I always prefer using the ones inside because I feel a bit more secure. It's worth checking you're at the right one though, as one is just for deposits. It is a supremely cool deposit one, scanning your cheques and detecting the amount (you can correct it if wrong) then printing a mini scanned version of each cheque on the receipt. It's a very fast and efficient way of depositing several cheques, although I'm not sure about the security benefits of having a bit of paper with a replica of each cheque on.
The location is great - right near the shops so you can withdraw money if necessary, and by a bike rack so you can nip up towards Queen Street then stop there, or hop off a bus nearby. read more
