When we arrived, the security manager decided, on the spot, that anyone who had altered their shirt (cut-off sleeves due to the hot weather) would be denied entry. That's half the group turned away after already paying. This is beyond unacceptable. No one in our group was rude or out of line. We are all military personnel and professionals who understand decorum in public. We were literally escorted with pipes and drums, getting nothing but smiles and photos elsewhere. Every other bar along the crawl welcomed us with open arms. This place, however, showed nothing but arrogance, inflexibility, and complete disregard for the agreement made. They knew in advance who we were, what we were doing, and how we were arriving. Enforcing a last-minute dress code after taking our money is nothing short of theft. If you value integrity, accountability, or basic hospitality, avoid this place at all costs. They do not deserve your business.

The manager came out to talk with me, long story short, I was told that the police had confirmed I wasn't involved with the altercation, but because that's what the bouncer was told I couldn't come back in. Great, I can understand policy, and not wanting to add to any drama that may be happening. But it was now 1am, our driver was inside, and they wouldn't allow me to get my jacket from the bar. The police talked to the manager again and told them they were informed by the other party involved that I was keeping people from our group back trying to prevent a worse situation. I should have known better when we walked in to find a crowd of drunks so young that they were dancing to Justin Bieber's Baby single completely unironically. That's right - this was a bar full of people born in the nineties and I've never seen anything so terrifying in my life. Except perhaps the trend of mini dresses, at least 40% of which were actually wedged in crevices where no mini dress should ever be wedged. The Anvil is one step above sawdust floor, you guys. It's practically a barn for the next generation of binge drinkers. You walk by the bathrooms on the way in (and the smell never really leaves you), the dance floor is to the left, the bar to the right, and the secondary bar and area wherein you will find all the fights is straight ahead. People will just toss their plastic cups of ice across the room when they're finished their $2.50 well shots, they will also knock you off your chair in an attempt to lure a mate with their sub par 'everyday I'm shufflin'' reenactment, and they will be just as messy as you'd expect for a rural university town dive bar where 19th birthday celebrations are shouted out over the sound system. While this place left me rattled and shellshocked, the DJ sure knows how to play those Top 40 hits that you car-dance to on the way to work and $2.50 drinks can't be argued with. The waiters and waitresses frequently visited to check on us and empty out buckets. The meal also came with two dessert options and self serve coffee/tea. The experience- was nice but pricey and a bit touristy. It was sadden that the unlimited salad bar actually lacked green salad or spinach- which I was sort of craving. They generally had a selection of mayonnaise based salads- look at my photo. But some selection- but I didn't see anything fun like crab salad. The machine auto request for 15% tip, so if you're not a fan of being told what to tip be sure to manually adjust it. Washroom is located in the main floor and the lower floor. Water was self serve- which I thought was odd since the servers were visiting frequently already.
