They were one of the few stores that carried 7 for All Mankind jeans at the time, now days they don't carry many, they have picked up some new designers. They have since moved to Crown Center area and reside on the upper floor. It makes me happy just walking in this store, customer service typically says hi, asks if we need anything and has always offered to help. My favorite associate is Paula, do yourself a favor and find her when you arrive and have her help/support you. As any higher end retailer you can expect to pay top dollar for name brand designers and service. I like to buy more timeless pieces so I don't mind paying extra for jeans that I keep for 15+ years or tops that last through the trends. I do enjoy their sales, when they have them. I recently bought my first piece of Tumi luggage from Halls, they honor the Tumi sales that are held online. The sales associate knew all about the luggage and helped me find the perfect piece. If they don't have something in your size at the store they are more than happy to ask their sales team to order it, they will call you when it arrives. They also offer alterations, these can be free depending on the work that needs to be done. They have make-up, a cafe, shoes, purses, luggage, women/men's clothing and junior styles. Parking is located in the attached parking garage which is free on the weekends and fills up fast! One of my favorite stores in KC.

I was expecting a lot larger footprint, especially since this is the only Halls and it was in the Crown Center. They had one section for Kansas City stuff and sadly it was all Chiefs/Royals related. I can understand why they would decided to overload on that but I felt it kind of strange they didn't have ANYTHING else. Not even their own branded merch or barbecue related. I ended up buying something at the airport.

We take our kids to crown center multiple times a year (ice skating, restaurants, coterie theatre…read moreare all wonderful). The parking system up to now has been easy to navigate and validate at any shop. The new "frictionless" parking system is an obnoxious data grab, irritating to set up (I do not want to make an account for every place I park), and impossible for people who choose not to have a smartphone on them at all times (me). :) I'm sure it cost a lot to implement, but every person I've talked to has also found it frustrating. Will be ice skating elsewhere from now on and choosing alternative parking from the crown center garages whenever possible.

There are shops like Hallmark, Crayola, Starbucks, convenience store, tea store, souvenir store, Halls (luxury store, mostly expensive goods), local KC good store and so many different restaurants. The hallway connects it to entertainment places like Hallmark visitor center, Kaleidoscope, Sealife and Lego Center. In the plaza they also had ice rink and Christmas decorations. There's indoor parking, street car stop and Union station (minutes away) for guests. Throughout the day, lots of tourists, including families with kids visit this center. The restaurants have varieties like bbq, pizza and sandwiches. Sheridan's frozen custard is a really popular ice cream store. It is also connected to Westin hotel via passageway. I did struggle a bit the signs and directions. There were not clear in some corners. Security personnel are available throughout the plaza, we took some direction help from them. But overall it's a prime spot in KC.

I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. Go visit this MidWest (established in Iowa) department store! I know I'll be going back and hopefully update with some pics!

Prices were mid to high depending on the location. The plaza buildings looked so pretty with their lightings at night. There was also a Fifa countdown sculpture since KC is a host city. The plaza area felt pretty safe and well maintained. Lots of security personnel were always available in each of the blocks.

They had quite a few employees helping to arrange items in the store and to help us with any questions or concerns. Although selection was a little lacking in some categories, given that it is a bargain outlet/closeout store, it still had some good deals and items priced competitively cheap. If I'm in the area, I will make sure tk visit the spot again, since their inventory changes regularly.

I think some prices are good but others aren't that great so you have to be ready to spend some time looking. It's just not very organized. Maybe they try but it's not. But when you run across something you really want, that's fun! One huge issue is no dressing rooms. They say you can return but it's about a 40 minute drive for me each way so it would be much better if I could try on before I buy. The last time I was there, I literally got in the corner of the store and tried on everything over my clothes and my partner took a photo so I could get an idea of what it looked like on me even with my clothes underneath. I got paranoid at one point because they have a lot of plain clothed security in there and I was worried they might think I was up to something but I was rather conspicuous so I'd be a really stupid criminal. Lol BUT, I liked everything I tried on so that's a positive for Cargo Largo! I also had an item in my cart with a red sticker on it as a markdown. The item was still about $30 but it rang up for over almost at $50. The guy ringing me up looked it up by the date they received it (May of 2025) and said the price on the ticket was wrong so he called over the manager. At first she told me she wouldn't honor the price on the ticket but then she said she would. I thanked her and I got the idea she really had to go by this date system but that's not cool. If you make an error, you should honor the price. And you've had the item in your store for 5 months so reducing it $15 to sell it isn't crazy. Again, in the end I got it for that price and I appreciate the manager's help, but it was a bit embarrassing having to feel like I'm haggling when the tag clearly stated that price. If it weren't for that incident, the lack of dressing rooms, and the intimidating presence of the security (you can definitely spot them even in plain clothes), I would rate them higher. I'll still go back because I do find cute things there.
