Honoring my mother At 6:00 am this Saturday morning, I learned that my mother had passed away. My siblings and I had gathered from around the country fearing this outcome. After a few hours processing the news, I composed myself and decided to set up a makeshift memorial to her at my brother's house. I knew Kroger flowers wouldn't do. I wanted to honor my mom with a dazzling display of various and vibrant colors. Halls Flower Shop was the closest florist to me. I called to ask if they had loose flowers so I could select them for my own arrangement. The cheerful young woman on the phone said yes. I arrived around 12:15 pm. I didn't see bins of cut flowers I could peruse, but upon mentioning the need, the same young woman kindly escorted me to the back to see the selection. With her help, I selected what seemed like 3 of everything. She was so kind and helpful through the entire process; if I'd pointed to an unhealthy flower, she'd pick a better one. When one of the carnations (my mom's favorite) snapped as she was transferring it to a bucket, she gave it to me. I was touched by this simple gesture. Along the way, she would kindly caution me as she saw the total price rising. She'd tell me the cost of each individual flower as the cost mounted. Given that this was a once-in-my-lifetime need, I told her to keep going. That was very kind of her, though, to look out for my wallet. By this point it was around 12:45, the store closed at 1 pm, and I'd picked an extraordinary number of flowers of all colors and redolence. Not wanting to keep her past quitting time, I asked if she could just basically trim them and put them in 2 vases I'd chosen. I didn't need them perfectly arranged. She agreed. While I waited, another young woman who had helped and conveyed the same empathy and warmth as the first, noticed me crying. The news was so fresh. She brought me a box of Kleenex and a water. She also made a boutonniere out of the broken carnation and helped me pin it on my t-shirt. I wore that all day long and have kept it as a memento. When the 2 vases of offsetting heights came out, I got emotional not just at the beauty of the flowers but at the skill and care taken in arranging them. Far from being 'just putting them in a vase,' she had brought me 2 works of art. They were stunning arrangements. A bit emotional, I paid the bill. She put the vases in cardboard boxes and helped me get them in the car. "Support them from the bottom," she helpfully added about the boxes. At home and set on opposite sides of the scruffy memorial I'd made in front of a darkened TV, they complemented the candles and photographs we'd hastily gathered, catching the light of the sun during the day; the flame of the candles at night. They brought much-needed brightness and happiness to the sad occasion. They were absolutely gorgeous and the aromas absolutely intoxicating. It was a feast for the senses and it mattered deeply to my family. (The picture doesn't do them justice, but trust me on their splendor). So a huge thanks to Halls Flower Shop for helping me at a very delicate time to do something special to honor my mother's memory. Your warmth, kindness and assistance will stay with me forever as a positive aspect of an otherwise sad day. And mom, I hope you liked them. Had a last minute order @ 5:10pm to pick up a big bouquet of flowers. Hoping they would have some in their case I could just grab and go, they only had a few to choose from. I suggested 2 dozen roses and without hesitation they whipped them up in 15 minutes and I was out the door. Never made me feel rushed at all. The flowers were gorgeous red roses with eucalyptus and greenery stems. The flowers were fresh and of high quality! Highly recommend using Halls Flowers. I absolutely adore the ladies at Halls Flower Shop! The arrangements they made for my daughter's wedding on 9/30/23 were absolutely gorgeous. Teresa and Qurstin were professionals who took their jobs seriously and were so happy to be with us on my daughter's big day. The bouquets, the corsages, the boutonnieres, the arrangements, and the decorative wreaths were beautiful, and, most importantly, were not budget busters. We love Halls Flower Shop. Everyone is friendly and helpful, the store is gorgeous with all the flower arrangements they sell. My Dad passed suddenly and Teresa helped us figure out which colors we wanted for his Casket spray. She made everything smooth and easy during a time where my sister and I were struggling to even grasp that Dad is gone. I would purchase flowers from them for any occasion because the flowers are fresh and healthy. They know what type of lowers look great together and whether or not the flower you want will be in full bloom for the bouquet, spray, etc. Can't say enough good things about them. I'm reviewing based on my online experience. The web site was slightly dated but worked well. The flowers were delivered on-time and came out great. The message I added on the web site to be placed on the card showed up and was accurate. When I called to check the status the staff was nice on the phone also. I will be back for more in the future. I am so disappointed with this Business. Today, My mother received her Mother's day gift. The flowers that she received were wilted and had drooping pedals. Why? May I ask would a company deliver flowers that needed to be disposed of in the trash. Why not redo the arrangement , before delivering to ones Home? This is not excellent customer service. I live out of state and I trusted this company by ordering through Teleflora. I paid 65.73 and only going to be refunded on 1/2 plus 50% discount towards my next order. I will not use this business again! Paid full amount on my charge card, and through not fault of my own, my mother received damage goods. WoW!! Customer service is not what it use to be! I have ordered from Halls Flower Shop in the past but moved away and had not ordered until just recently. A super close family friend passed away in my hometown, and I found myself visiting the shop once again. I didn't want to be disrespectful, so I asked if I could bring items in to incorporate into a flower arrangement to be delivered to the funeral home. I was told that was absolutely fine and brought in what I had picked up. These items were to be split amongst several family members afterwards, but we also wanted them to have some pretty fresh flowers too. The arrangement was far beyond our expectations once again! They are all wonderful people, super helpful, and beyond talented with their arrangements. I would 110 percent recommend this florist for any arrangement desired for any occasion. The plants and gifts offered - from framed pictures and stuffed animals to wind chimes and afghans along with so much more - are all very nice. Couldn't ask for much more, in my opinion. My grandmother was in the hospital up in the Knoxville area and I found out late in the evening and needed to get flowers to her the next day. I tried all of the big name online stores - but found that a third of their price was from all of their "fees". I don't mind spending the money, but I want it to be bc the flowers are really nice - not spend it on a small bunch of flowers and a huge chunk of fees. So I searched all night for local shops in that area that had the right thing on their website (we wanted a potted azalea rather than cut flowers). I decided on Halls Flower Shop bc most of the money was toward the nice plant - and I think only $10 for delivery. I was pretty freaked out when the owner called the next morning saying that, since azaleas are off season, they could maybe sub for a green plant (which was the last thing we wanted bc she LOVES bright colors). I called as soon as I heard the vm and the guy couldn't be more accommodating. He was happy to either sub whatever we wanted or even cancel the order altogether. I asked if he could do a cut arrangement in reds and purples (her favorite) and he was happy to oblige. Now... you guys know ordering flowers is scary bc you never know the quality til they get there. So I was pleased as punch when my very picky grandma was over the moon... she said they were the most beautiful flowers she's ever seen (and she isn't prone to saying things like that to make you feel good... if she doesn't like them, you'll know!). She couldn't even name one of the flowers in there - which is wild bc she is a huge flower person with a green thumb...and thought she'd seen it all! The shop was also able to still get the flowers delivered that day even thought I delayed the order til late morning trying to decide which flowers to send. We are SO happy we made the choice of this flower shop over the others... his kindness and willingness to put the order on hold until he spoke with me (rather than just shipping out a sub like most others would have done) really saved the day. I would come here as a child with my aunt and order flowers, it was a warm and friendly place then and it still is now. I moved away 25+ years ago and now only call them when someone is sick or worse, but it is always nice to hear the friendly caring voice on the line helping me pick out just the right gift or flowers and helping me to word just the right sentiment. It's Southern hospitality at it's finest. When my grandma passed away a couple of years ago, I went in person to the shop and was amazed at the selection and prices. If you ever have a chance, go in and look. Then when you have to call in an order you have an insiders knowledge of what's available. The website does not at all give it justice and everything is not listed on the site. They have beautiful grapevine wreaths, wind chimes, gift baskets, and their plants are so healthy and lush. Not what they used to be! For decades this was my go to flower shop, until recently. This is no longer a true flower shop, but more of a small gift shop with flowers as a side business. The shop has a new owner and the design quality of the arrangement is contingent upon who is working that day. In April I ordered flowers for a birthday gift which I picked up at the shop. The designer, Teresa, produced an exquisite arrangement, and I was extremely pleased with her work! On Mother's Day, I was sadly disappointed in the shabby arrangement I received delivered to my home. The flowers,mwhich were of poor quality, appeared stuffed in a plain glass vase with little care taken and missing a simple ribbon or bow which might have helped to disguise the lack of design. My daughter ordered this from another city as a surprise so she didn't see the final product. When I questioned the delivery person, he stated they have 7 different designers. The sweet mom and pop store that always produced consistently beautiful arrangements no longer exists. I can't help but wonder if more care is taken if the arrangement is picked up by the customer. Buyer, beware, ask for a designer who has worked for the previous owner if you want something beautiful. read more
