I do not even know where to begin. I was admitted to Hamilton college as an OP student and transferred out recently. Currently Hamilton is experiencing a housing crisis since they have over enrolled students and force all students to live on campus. Imagine paying 80k in tuition to live in a trailer park because there's not enough room? Their food quality is horrible, I have gotten sick eating here too many times to count. There is no accessible dorms or spaces at Hamilton, they can't even get a voting poll station because of how inaccessible and non ADA compliant the campus is. I have many more critiques but all I will say in this review is I would not recommend Hamilton to any student, especially low income first gen students of color, like myself. This college values and prioritizes their white affluent student, as most colleges do. I appreciate the mentorship I've gained here, the professors, and other students of colors I've met and made lifetime friendships with. Aside from the trauma I've gained from the two years I spent here, the environment is beautiful! I've never experienced such clean air and open spaces like this coming from Los Angeles. read more

Excellent college. My son attends and the teachers a phenomenal. Grounds are beautiful. Facilities are great too! So glad we found this school! Hamilton College is an expensive private college in rural Upstate New York. The faculty is very left wing and ideological even though the school's funding comes from wealthy people. Hypocrites mostly. Hamilton also lacks competent leadership and has failed to engage its students with high academic standards and applied learning. While there are some excellent and caring professors, the school lacks direction and fails to educate students with real world practical thinking and problem solving skills. There's a lack of critical thinking although the small school does allow abundant opportunities for extra-curricular activities. Instead of being innovative and excellent, Hamilton mostly rests on its laurels and hefty endowment. read more

*Warning!* This a townie review and has nothing _at_all_ to do with faculty, living arrangements, or anything at all related to the academics of the college. That said, Hamilton College's Root Glen and their Art Exhibition hall were some of my favorite places to go in Clinton. A unique walk-through of gardening styles from around the globe, Root Glen is a gentle hike through English lawns, Japanese tranquility gardens, elfin fern arrangements and natural northeastern flora. A wide sloping lawn with English cottage boarders brings you to a small pagoda (the Buddha was stolen in the mid-1990s), and the further one wanders, the more natural the landscape becomes; eventually you'll find wooden stump benches, plank bridges over streams and even a small waterfall. Beautiful, enchanting and the perfect place for entire families from a few years old to 80. Their rotating art exhibits also provide nice cultural exposure in town; often featuring the work of students, as well as works of more famous artists, there are informative signs, well-lit halls and soft benches in which to enjoy the art of just relax with a book. I graduated from here. I could write pages upon pages about why this college is great, but I'll just drop a few highlights. The students, almost without exception, are a highly intelligent lot with a vast diversity of interests. The faculty are superb. The facilities were more than I could have asked for. Clinton, NY is certainly remote and that's why I loved it. Many students like to gripe about the isolation and crappy weather, but if they didn't know that going in, perhaps they really weren't that intelligent after all. I have no regrets choosing Hamilton as my college. If you are looking for a small, liberal arts school in a rural area, Hamilton is certainly one of the best. read more

One of my favorite colleges of all time. I never attended Hamilton College, but Hamilton is part of my blood because I grew up in Clinton. Most of my friends had parents who worked for the school in some capacity, usually as professors but sometimes as administrators. I have had countless excellent times going to parties, dances, lectures, and events. In High School at Clinton High, we would go for field trips or concerts on a weekly basis. I love the Root Glen, the new building projects, and Wellin Hall, especially now that it's been added on to and redone. In High School my English class saw a lecture by Civil Rights Activist Jonathan Kozol and it was one of the most inspiring events in my life. There is a large endowment for super-famous speakers basically once a year, and I saw former President Bill Clinton Speak at the school. read more
