I think this is a first for me, a second update for a total of 3 reviews of the same business. And 2021 seems to be a year for updates as well. I can thank a global pandemic for renewing and invigorating my interest in fine spirits, and this shop in particular for having a depth of variety not found elsewhere in Hamilton or neighboring towns. Lately my drink of choice has been wine and cocktails, but previously and during the height of Covid, I became immersed in sours and ciders. This place has both in abundance, in fact I don't think it's possible to try all of them, as they keep getting new ones in. My trip today to find a new sour proved fruitful( pun intended) but also time consuming. I have learned from experience that it's helpful to bring my reading glasses with me, there's just so much new stock to view and labels seem smaller every year. Along with old favs I saw a number of new sours and settled on the lesser of 2 pricey options. I may have gone with the pricier one had there been someone with experience of the brewery and firsthand knowledge of its pedigree. That will probably haunt me until I go back and shell out the $ to try it myself;) I also took some time today to peruse the Scotch selection, which is also a favorite of mine in cooler weather. That is what prompted me to update this. It may not be the biggest of known shops to me, but the prices are amazing. I noticed that some of those items are on sale. There is no clear signage except for a small shelf tag which on some items show previous price. The specific item I was pricing was about $5 less than a place I thought was the lowest, this item was not on sale either. It appeared to be very nice gift boxy bottles from last holiday that were $10 or more off of the original. I'm definitely going back to take advantage of at least one of those. I also spent more time in the wine aisles. Again great prices on some of the more upscale but still widely available Ca wineries. I think the selection is very good but again not quite as good as Canals. However I think they will match or beat most prices. Customer service in general is very good, esp at the checkouts. I think having a wine/ and or beer expert around at all times would be beneficial to this store. I asked again while at the register and was told he would be in later in the day. So it seems that this is a q they get and there is an expert on hand some of the time. It's also cool that they have food trucks around on the weekends. There are in store tastings too which I've not had a chance to try. Definitely my favorite liquor store by far for this extended area. This store is always well stocked and prices are very good. They have a growler station with rotating taps. Their craft beer selection is one of the biggest I've ever seen. They have impressive selection of wines that are organized well and span the gamut of price ranges. Today was an interesting trip. I picked up a mobile order at the IHOP just a minute down the road and decided I would stop into Buy Rite and stock up as the governor of New Jersey was set to make a big announcement related to the COVID-19 outbreak which I expected to follow suit of NY where non-essential business would have to close. Upon entering the store I was taken back by the long line of people with the same idea. I knew I probably shouldn't be out and surrounded by this many people but I was taking all the precautions and had my trusty bottle of Trader Joe's hand sanitizer spray in my side pocket. What scared me a bit at this location was the lack of precautions taken by this store. People leaving the store and passing along baskets and carts to other customers with nobody wiping them down. Employees without gloves or masks. No sign of wipes or hand sanitizer anywhere. All in all, this is still a good spot to stock up on booze, wine, and craft beer, or even fill your growler but I won't return until this pandemic is over, even if it remains open. read more

My favorite liquor store in the area! It's maybe not the absolute best I've ever seen, but it's pretty darn close. The beer options are excellent, with tons of different stuff to try. I'm a huge fan of Belgians and they have a pretty decent selection, although I wouldn't complain if it was a tiny bit more extensive :) Plenty of variety packs and a huge fridge full of stuff ranging from cheap college swill (which I like, depending on my mood!) to crazy craft beers that I'll probably never buy because they're a little too expensive. Staff are helpful and the lines move reasonably quickly. I've never tried the food trucks but it's definitely a cool option to have on site. I don't usually drink wine or liquors but the many, many shelves of both tell me that you're probably in luck if you're looking for something :) Overall, this place is one of my staples and I'll continue to shop here when I'm looking for something new, interesting, and affordable. read more

This location has a very nice bourbon selection with some really good store picks. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

This Super Buy-Rite has everything you could ever need - good selection of liqueurs and amaros as well. And all the non-alcoholic accessories and garnishes are by the front. They have protective screens in place at each register, and there are markings on the ground for safe distancing. They will yell at you for being a Mets fan though ;) read more

When this was the old Cedar Gardens, it would never have qualified for 5 stars. Maybe 1 or 2. The former owners hardly kept good inventory of beer and liquor. Their staff wasn't very friendly and they were expensive. The new Hamilton Super Buy-Rite is quite the opposite. Fantastic selection of craft beer, wines, gift baskets, hard to find liqueurs, whiskies, etc. The staff is quite a bit friendlier and prices are very competitive to any local discount liquor store. read more

Cedar Gardens is gone, and good riddance! The Super Buy-Rite that has taken over its location has become my #1 go-to liquor store in an area with quite a few choices. The impressively sized store is now fully stocked, and you would be hard pressed to not either find exactly what you are looking for or a similar replacement. Both beer and wine selections are impressive, and prices are in line with the other large liquor stores in the area. Even more impressive is the knowledge and enthusiasm of the staff on hand who are willing and able to help you make a selection without being obtrusive. While I do not know if this is a fact, based on some conversations between staffers I have overheard it seems as though the management requires them to learn about the product (both general knowledge as well as specific product information) before working the floor. If so, good move. So if you're looking for a fancy bottle of something to impress your friends with at a dinner party, some rotgut to help you forget about a tough week or anything in between, Buy-Rite has got you covered read more

I came into this store today to spend $200+ dollars and one staff member, an older woman, was extremely hostile. She watched me and three of my friends walk into the store and watched us the entire time. There was a representative from Sourland Mountain Spirits in the back and we spent some time with her learning about the brand. When we went to check out she demanded to see everyone's ID. I had left mine in the car and she refused to check out until I went and got it. I'm 28 years old. When I came back inside with my ID she was gone and so I handed it to the cashier who was at the register. The older woman ran back and snatched my ID from her and proceeded to study it back and forth as if it was fake. This woman racially profiled me and my group and I am completely disgusted with her behavior. I'm not sure if she was drunk or not but I did see her taking shots with the rep from Sourland Mountain Spirits. Either way her behavior was out of line and inappropriate. Idk if this is normal behavior in this store but she made everyone in my group uncomfortable. read more

Lost my business...3 strikes...I'm done they lost my business...asked if they took competitors coupons...a simple "no" would have been just fine...don't make up stories and lie to me...you sounded stupid by the way... another time I went in there and they were out of what I drink...went down the list, not just 1 item....had an excuse for that...again went in there and they didn't even sell what I wanted and it's a popular item...smh...not wasting my time anymore read more

Ask them to honor the price on the shelf for the exact item- barcode matches- listing title matches- it's always a 'mistake' and they don't pull it off the shelf to change it either. got flipped this time. Manager refused to speak with me inside the store despite claiming to be unavailable in a back office when I called minutes later. Anthony, the manager, refuse to give me the names or title of any of the people actually involved claiming it was all personal information, If you look at my pic closely though Brandon is posing next to "middle finger guy" while wearing his manager name tag. Have had issues when asking staff questions on prior visits, there's always attitude and a condescending tone when they don't know the specifics of what your looking for. Once when they first opened I asked where the Cointreau was while standing next to the tripple sec. I was told triplesec was the only orange liquor they stocked and when I asked to speak to some one else the employee actually tried to explain the difference between liqueur and liquor to me and direct me to orange flavored vodkas. I walked away and someone was able direct me to the Cointreau display, which hadn't been stocked on shelves yet. Even the tone of the manager who helped me was condescending though, as if i had caused some problem for him. Wish i posted a review then, would definitely consider changing it pending the promised phone call from the owner. read more

Great wine, beer and spirits store in Hamilton. We stopped by to check the store out and WOW were we taken aback. Aisles were well marked. A very knowledgable staff. I had a few questions and spoke with John who was walking by and he couldn't have been more helpful. My wife was looking for a wine and spoke with Ann and although it was not in stock we were able to order it through them and should be in soon. We will be back. Even though they didn't have everything I was looking for Ann made a call right on spot to check with her vendor and made a special order for me to have it in her store in just a few days! Went on our first trip to check out this relatively new business. The first impression is its still under construction, messy in the front as soon as you walk in and then a gaping garage door size hole in back wall with debris hanging from it and ceiling beyond. No attempt at all to cover it up. ALL MERCHANDISE.and shelves are covered in a layer of construction dust. I brought this to the attention of the young man working there and his response was,"well I don't work at this store, I work at the other one" I asked to speak to the manager and he called Chris over, I said something about all the dust and perhaps some plastic and duct tape might help. He agreed. Then when he walked away my son overheard him say to the young man... "You called me over for that?." Perhaps a more mature seasoned manager might have addressed the situation by having someone CLEAN UP THE MESS,!! I dropped a fifty there, and had I known about Chris' comments, I would have addressed his incompetence right then and there and left without a purchase. My son didn't tell me UNTILL after we left. There are too many other places to spend your money in Hamilton ....where they actually care about customers and the way they present themselves. The prices aren't that great anyway. read more
