Then one day I walked in and realized that I'd been cheating myself out of quality liquors. Varsity Liquors isn't much aesthetically, but like the name implies, it holds an excellent "variety" of just about all spirits. Being that I'm a rum snob, I was thrilled to see they carried some of my favorite high end rums, and at normal prices. They also have an excellent wine and champagne selection. You can have your "variety" of everything from regional wines, to great choices of rose champagne. Everything is well laid out and easy to find given the small size of the store. Aside from the higher end stuff, they also have all the beer basics, mixers and bar snacks you would find at a half decent liquor store. Great spot!

Purchased a bottle of rose for a gift. If I drove elsewhere I may have found the bottle for a little cheaper, but it's an independent shop & conveniently located for me so I didn't mind spending a little more. As I was paying, cashier asked if I wanted to sample a Korean strawberry soju. It was tasty so I bought a bottle. Noticed they had open bottles of whiskey & bourbon, which I assume customers may sample before deciding on purchasing a bottle. If I'm in the area again, I'd stop by to pick up a bottle or 2.

This well researched and mindfully assembled "wine library" has best representatives of even the tiniest microclimate where wines of note are produced. The associates working beside the owner Laurent Chapuis are well-studied connaisseurs who can talk intelligently about every bottle in the shop. Before a new bottle is placed in the racks it has been tasted and discussed by members of the team. Laurent, himself, visits the winemakers and the terroirs to select only the best examples and best vintages for his shelves. Open tastings invite we consumers to meet the makers and taste their wines including vertical samplings which educate us. I've never visited a better educated shop than the Princeton Corkscrew.
