I was really impressed with this hotel…read more Just a hop, skip and a jump from Centraal Station (ten minutes on the bus), this location is not as remote as you may expect. The city centre is walkable in about half an hour if you know the right directions, and for the money you save in room price you'll be able to stop for a few drinks on the way! My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights, split the cost of rooms so it cost each of us less than 200 euros. Per night, the rate worked out cheaper than some of the hostels in the city centre, and for the quality of the hotel it's quite remarkable. It's clean, quirky and certainly not lacking in personality, which you can tell from the Superman cow statue outside. Inside, the interior ranges from being modern and sophisticated to a bit zany in the rooms - ours had a stripey, 70s style retro carpet and a spacious checkered bathroom that is probably the nicest I've seen in a hotel. They don't call it the art hotel for nothing - our bed was backed with a massive (and terrifying) picture of a little girl. Intimidating, but certainly not lacking in personality! Our room was equipped with kettle, clean, soft, warm towels, chairs and all the other usual amenities such as toileteries that you'll steal but never actually use. I was particularly impressed with the variety of TV channels, from Dutch MTV to various foreign channels to suit tourists from all over Europe. There were a couple of British channels if we urgently needed to keep up to speed on what was happening at home. Downstairs there was a swimming pool, free internet from the PCs on the ground floor and a gorgeous wee bar where you could get breakfast. The security in the place was good - you had to use your swipe card several times to get to the room - and access for wheelchair users was good due to the lifts. It's right outside a bus stop and there was an option to rent mopeds and regular bikes, so you're kept well in transportation links. All in all, loved it and have recommended it to several friends who prefer a comfier choice to hostel living!

It's a very basic room, not super fancy. It's great for a cheap stay and just place to crash and sleep. The breakfast or continental breakfast is very basic and simple. No-frills or excitement or luxury to any aspect of the hotel. I think there are more parking spots and ramps and structures for bicycles then there were for cars. Remember this is the country and the city known for the most amount of bicycles in the world.

KLM booked a room here as part of an accommodation including dinner and free shuttle from airport. I paid for a taxi given the wait for the free shuttle -35 Euros for a 10 minute ride and worth it. The space is massive and is divided into two sections for rooms. Higher room numbers closer to reception and lower closer to the dining room. If your card won't work on the elevator you're not in the right section. Part of my accommodation was dinner at the Hotel's "World Buffet." I'm not a big fan of buffets so I asked at reception about it -I was assured this was one of the best buffets given his experience at multiple hotels. There was food from around the world as stated-Local, Asian, Indian, salad bar, dessert with cake and ice cream and espresso machines. I will say it was very good by Buffet standards (that said, given the full day of travel issues, most anything would've tasted good) & although I didn't pay, price is close to 40 Euros. They have a nice Bar with a Pool table and plenty of TVs for sports viewing, My room was a single with two comfortable twin beds and was just the right size. Mini fridge, safe, iron and free bottle of water were also included. The big and pleasant surprise was the indoor pool, Gym and spa amenities. Gym is open 24/7 and has all you need for a great workout. Not only did they have a dry sauna and steam room, they also had a Sanarium. (not as hot as a dry Sauna)-just what the Dr. ordered after a long travel day! Service was friendly and upbeat despite the very busy day given the travel issues. I could see planes taking off from my room but couldn't hear them & not too much close by. A good one for an overnight and if you need to be close to Schipol.

They have great amenities and helpful staff, though I noticed that the front desk staff were a bit snooty in how they treated me versus some of the other guests on my same tour. I cannot help but wonder if it was because I was about 20-30 years younger than everyone else on the tour and I looked especially disheveled upon checking in after my red eye flight. However, my overall stay was lovely and the rest of the staff were a delight. I even had a chance to visit the spa and gym and pool a few times in my 3 days at this hotel. Highly recommended if you are ever visiting Amsterdam and want to stay close to the museums!

We have been fortunate to have stayed at some nice hotels before but this was at the top end of our price range especially with having to get two rooms for our family of four and we were only able to stay here with their stay four days and pay for three promotion. The location was fantastic--close to the museum quarter (steps away from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh) but out of the tourist hubbub. It had easy transit to both tram (connecting with central station) and bus with stops outside of the hotel. It is near good restaurants as well and bakeries and love that a grocery store was steps away too. The service was fantastic and they were so kind to upgrade us from our original deluxe room to rooftop suites (we had booked three rooms traveling with my parents as well). It was an incredible experience with rooms well appointed and Dutch architecture but so spacious for the city. I had originally booked here since their deluxe rooms were larger than the rooms I was finding in other hotels but loved the views from the windows and ample space with seating areas. My husband enjoyed use of the gym during our stay. It was very zen and fortunately not crowded in the evening hours. We hope to visit Amsterdam again and would plan on returning here since it was an amazing stay despite it being on the top end of our range :). (It looks like the lower rated reviews on yelp are for their restaurant which we didn't try.... the hotel was amazing).
