I think this hotel is new and still working itself out. We arrived really late on Monday - around midnight. As a diamond member upon check in, I asked if I could have a water bottle since that's pretty standard at any Hilton chain. They said sure, you can go buy it at the bar. Oh well. We went to our room on the 4th floor. It was small and had a "garden view" which I'm sure was much quieter than the street side. The room had a desk, bed, and small bathroom. There were no wash cloths provided either. The hotel itself is located within a 5 min walk to Alexanderplatz which makes it pretty easy to get anywhere. There is a pizza place and liquor store right around the corner as well. The hotel has a bar and a small area you can order some snack items. The breakfast was pretty decent, too. I don't know if I'll ever come back to Berlin, but if I do I think I'd choose the other Hampton on the other side of town. The employees weren't very friendly here and the experience wasn't that great.

    Nice big bar area.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is well located. It's just a short walk to Alexanderplatz and the U-bahn, which are both huge advantages. We found ourselves just hanging out in the Alexanderplatz area often, before coming back to our hotel. If you're lucky they'll be a weekend festival in the area. Oddly enough we came in during a Hispanic Heritage festival I believe. It was fun and there were plenty of good German eats and drink food carts to choose from in the square on our first few nights. The rooms are very clean, small but clean. The free breakfast is well worth the stay here. It was always well maintained while we were there and they give you plenty of time to get in for the good eats. There are busier times that you may want to avoid. We found that 9am was quite busy. We enjoyed the bar area on a few occasions during our stay. The bartenders are friendly and do a great job. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel in the center of Berlin. 20 min. by train from the airport and 200m from the famous Alexanderplatz which overlooks the TV tower in Berlin. Upon arrival the welcome is warm. A fitness room on the lower level of the hotel is also available 24 hours a day. The quality of the rooms is extremely good, the beds are comfortable, the maids spend every day cleaned the room without complaints. A TV with more than 100 channels is also available, it is also possible to connect your own mobile phone. The East Side of the build overlook the "Mercedes Bank" building as well as the Bundesstrasse while those on the west side overlook the little green area surrounding the hotel. For the lunch of superb dishes are available from 6:00 to 10:00. There is something for everyone, sausages with cassoulet sauce, Gauffre nutella, delicious croissants and chocolate bread. At the drinks level, all types of coffee are available, but also orange juice and apple juice. It is also possible to eat on site at lunchtime and for dinner. For my part I have not tested these variants, nevertheless given the quality of the lunch I certainly think you will not be disappointed. A guide at the entrance of the hotel will find you the right excursion on days for your free time. If I can summarize I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to be close to the city center and transportation but also looking for comfort and high standards. A specially charm keeping a social room and a computer room, very kindly.

I had low expectations regarding the rooms and that was a good thing, because my single room on 4th floor was simple. It had a desk and a chair in a rather sterile room that gave me a hostel feeling. The wall to wall carpet did not smell right either.. Other than the carpet, room was clean. So, why such a good rating then? Well, breakfast was nice, view from room was nice, it was cheap and located exactly where I needed. In other words, this place is awesome if you have not planned to stay much in the room. It's a short trip, one stop or 20 minutes walk to Mauer Park and Oderberger strasse or Kollwitzstr. Lots of lcoal stores nearby as well as pubs. So, even though my room was simple, everything else was splendid.

GIven the urban setting, it might not be for the unadventurous - the night entrance to the hotel is inside a very dimly lit garden. However, all other gates being locked and the restaurant next to the open gate makes for a very safe walk into the hotel. The single room I was assigned was very small, and had only European plugs. The LED TV did not have USB ports. There is no ventilation in the room save for the exhaust fan of the bathroom. However, even very close to summer the room was kept comfortable by opening the windows that look down into the garden and night entry. I generally recommend this hotel to folks looking for a decent rate, while not expecting very luxurious surroundings.

It was affordable at just over 100 euros per night; it was centrally located without being beside loads of noisy clubs and restaurants and it had little self-contained apartments rather than basic bedrooms. Our room was very luxurious and we couldn't believe we were staying in such a high quality hotel in the middle of a capital city for such a great price. The bed was huge and insanely comfy. There were two flat screen TV's with English as well as German channels. The kitchen was small but well equipped with a microwave, hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. The bathroom was luxurious with a huge shower and most importantly it was absolutely spotless. The whole room was kept spotless by housekeeping throughout our stay. The restaurant was expensive but the food was delicious and you're so close to so many other restaurants and cafes that you can go your whole stay without having to eat in the restaurant if you don't want to. The pool was small and freezing but it was refreshing to jump into it at the end of a long days sightseeing. There was also a sauna and a Jacuzzi and they were never very busy. The Adina was within walking distance of all major sites including Checkpoint Charlie, Jewish Museum, Jewish Memorial, History Museum, DDR Museum...I could go on! It's also 2 minutes' walk to the underground if you want to venture further afield. We hopped on the underground and then a train to visit some markets and the zoo and it was no problem at all. I highly recommend going for a little apartment type room on a city break such as those offered at Adina rather than a standard hotel room. It was great for days when we didn't want to drag ourselves out of bed for breakfast early because we could just make some tea and toast in our apartment to set us up for the day. We also bought some microwave pizzas for one night when we couldn't bear the thought of leaving the apartment again to go out for dinner after a loooooong and tiring day of sightseeing. There were too little downsides to the Adina for us. One was that there was no DVD player in the apartment. You could hire one for an extra cost but they were all taken during our stay. Secondly our apartment didn't have a bath (but the shower was huge!). It would have been nice to have a cosy bath to recover a sooth body after walking around Berlin all day. Despite these too little things I 100% recommend the Adina if you are visiting Berlin. We went as a romantic, young couple's holiday but it would be equally suitable for families or groups of friends.

It really does not even compare to the hostel I stayed at in Amsterdam. Cons: -The rooms are so small! We were in each other's space. - the washer and dryer are terrible. We could not even get our clothes dry even after drying them twice in the dryer. So we literally had to hang all our clothes all throughout our whole room. Mind you, our room is so small. So we were left with way less space now that we hung out clothes in every nook of the room. I highly suggest going to a separate laundry institution nearby. - NO AIR CONDITIONER.... The rooms are very hot during the day. - breakfast in the cafe is pricy for the amount of food you get and the food quality you receive. Pros: -Clean bathroom - surprisingly bigger bathroom than you would think when you look at the room itself. - great lounge and common space - live DJ on Fridays

A very positive aspect: You do not need any bedsheets and they are already included in the price. You even don't need to take it off when leaving - many higher priced hostels demand that from you. Maybe they do it because of the brand's policy... Actually Generator is an upper-level priced hostel chain with usually very stylish design. I once met a hostel representative from the headquarters and she said, they are just offering the beds in this hostel so cheap because the building is so old. The building IS really old, she is so right. If you're been to another Generator (like me) and then get to this one, it might be a shock. If not and you paid really few money for the room, you might be astonished what you get for that low price.
