We stopped here on a road trip with no pre planning. We like rooms on the 1st floor near a side exit. This was not near a side exit - just the opposite. The 1 star is because we were awake half the night because of noise. Turns out the room was right next to the elevator and steps away from the corridor to the front desk- on a Saturday night - continual activity. It also sounded like water running for several hours at a time. Not sure why. After driving for 10 hours we really needed some sleep. Big waste of $$$. read more

We checked in after a very long day of traveling. The hotel lobby was clean and the staff were nice and friendly. The lobby was quiet, and we dropped our luggage in our room before heading to Chili's restaurant in the hotel parking lot for a light dinner. Back in our room, we noticed it was spotlessly clean, and comfortable. We were just in town for two nights to visit White Sands National Park, and it was a great spot to stay. Both nights we slept well, the room was quiet. Breakfast was your basic Hampton Inn breakfast, but there were plenty of choices and it is so convenient when you are going to be out for the day and want to get an early start. The breakfast room isn't as large as some other Hampton Inn's we have stayed in, but we found a table and there weren't any lines to get food. Could be that it was due to our traveling mid week in September. If we ever found ourselves in the area again, we would definitely stay again. read more

I'm not sure I would choose to stay here again. We used to live here and stopped in for a night to visit friends. When checking in, the hotel was full and the front desk associate said it will be full for a long time. Being so close to the border, there is a reason why the hotel is very full. We actually chose to skip breakfast because it was insanely busy and did not have any food left. Politically speaking, this hotel will be busy for a while from what we can tell. So to start off. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the paper thin doors. You can hear everything happening inside the room from the corridors. Rooms have been updated nicely. Beds are ok but the pillows are terrible. When we checked in the nice young lady had me initial where I'd be charged if I smoked in the room, when we entered the room I could immediately smell cigarette smoke. So I called and changed rooms. Didn't want to be blamed for that. Housekeeping tried to cover it up with febreze and I hate that smell. I do have to give 10 stars to that nice lady that was taking care of the breakfast!!! She was so nice and happy. It was like waking up to your grandmother cooking you breakfast in the morning. Such a nice thing to have there. We stayed 1 night at this Hampton Inn in Alamogordo NM while visiting White Sands NM. Entrance was in the back, I don't know why the lady didn't tell us! FREE hot tea or coffee was in the lobby area, chocolate chip cookies too when we checked in at night. We got a room with 2 beds - that was nice. Is it cheaper to get 2 beds instead of a King size? Bathroom was fine - had Neutrogena body lotion, shampoo, conditioner. Neutrogena French milled soap too. Had single serve coffee pot in the room. Microwave and small refrigerator in the room too. FREE breakfast - I had oatmeal and yogurt and tea. They had cereal and I think eggs, fruit, pastries, etc. They had a small crock pot with green chili so I had some of that with sausages. They have a small gym & pool. I used the gym for the treadmill. Worth a stay if in the area. read more

We were informed that the elevator was out of service. Ok, things happen. Things break, and when it's during a holiday, which this was, the repairs may not happen quickly or at all. I get that. What I am SERIOUSLY unhappy about is that while the staff was apologetic, there was NO concession made. Now, this is luxury. I used some of my Hilton points, so the room only came out to about $54. Rooms were clean, quiet, and updated. We were not impressed by our experience at this hotel. The best thing about it was the simplicity of the check-in and check-out processes. Our room had a neo-modern industrial decor to it. Beyond that, the property was constructed poorly and cheaply, which translated to shaking floors and hearing EVERYTHING that everyone said and feeling EVERYTHING that everyone did anytime they spoke or moved. This is for people who are looking for a job and want to apply here. DONT. The manager and supervisor are very rude and stuck up about you doing your job. Me and another person who worked there got "sent home" because I expressed my feelings about the supervisor of housekeeping being very rude. She would tell us how to do our job in a very rude manner, like she was better somehow. I understand constructive criticism is needed but not when it's just criticism and you are being plain rude. He got fired because he wasn't "cleaning rooms fast enough" but we both had only been there for about a month. I don't know how they expected him to be as fast as the other ladies who have been there for a few years or so. My husband and I were on a 7 day road trip and our last vacation night we stayed here. I wasn't expecting much...just a regular hotel. This place was the cleanest hotel room I have ever been in! I'm the type to closely inspect everything and they really did a great job! The front desk was very friendly and helpful. I was relieved they were following the safety guidelines for Covid. My stay didn't start very well, I am a gold member and I was not greeted very well. No welcome, sorry for the mess. I was surprised by the construction going on and there was no mention of it when I made the reservation. The man at the front desk said "well are you going to go somewhere else". I stayed. No offer of water or snack, I had to ask. The next morning I learned the gym was HOT and I asked for air and was told it didn't work. They did offer a pass for a nearby gym. I didn't have time for that before work. Breakfast- no fruit, except apples. I think kindness would help with the renovation going on and a Marriott right next door. This Hampton Inn is a pretty good bet if you're in the Alamogordo area. In fact, I'm guessing it's the best bet in the Alamogordo area. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, wireless internet that works well...for business travel that's about all I really need. Well, decent coffee in the morning helps as well. So as a Hilton Honor member, I am supposed to get two bottles of water when checking in. I wasn't offered any then later in the evening when I asked for water for my daughter before bed - a woman, acting like a manager, sitting in the lounge area (not in a uniform and sitting with a young boy and a woman who was in uniform) told me to go to the vending machine for $1.75 for water because she can only give me water when I check in. Any other Hilton I am offered water no matter what time...as long as they know I'm a honors member. This woman wasn't even in uniform, had a child with her in the lounge, no one behind the service counter. I don't even know who I was talking to... besides the fact that she was sitting with the woman in uniform who helped me earlier I would have told her to fuck off. Very stingy lady. read more

Disappointing Stay, I do Not Recommend Any Military, or Anyone Visiting Stay there. I did Not think the Hygiene was Too good. I was there 3 days and had Asked for the Housekeeping to Clean the Room. It was not cleaned in the 3 days I Stayed there. So I thought it was there business Practice. I Recieved Bug bites All over My legs and Arms After I Stayed there. They did Not Want to Compensate for it, or Even show Comprimise of Compensating for At least half of it. Everyone has different Business Ethics, Most Businesses would have done something to Compensate. It Was Very Disappointing, there Could have showed some Effort to the Customer. I don't usually write reviews but we recently had such a wonderful experience at Hampton Inn Alamogordo that I had to look up the hotel and write a review. Thanks a lot to Jessica and her team for making my son's birthday celebration the event of a lifetime. We were all very impressed with the birthday room decorations she and the team set up. My son was pleasantly surprised at the Harry Potter themed gift basket he received! Jessica and her team have put a BIG smile on all of our faces! Our room was very clean and every staff we interacted with was super friendly. In addition to the amazing service and accommodations, the hotel is very close to White Sands NP. We were able to enjoy the spectacular sunset at White Sands without worrying about driving long distance back to hotel at night. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

The staff here has been great, very friendly & pays attention to detail. In the comments section, for any extras you may need for your stay, I asked for a picture of Chewbacca to be in the room, just to see if they check that. Guess what?! We had an amazing picture of Chewbacca waiting for us with a note saying "Chewy we're home" - Han Solo. Next time we come out here to hike White Sands, this is where we'll stay. The definition of OK. This is in an area where there is a brand new Holiday Inn Express and fairly new Fairfield Inn. Sadly, compared to those, this property has grown dated. It is still clean and a solid performer. The rooms were ok, but definitely dated. Linens were clean, but I do have the complaint that the air conditioner ran all night (even with the fan on auto). The staff is very friendly, Breakfast was very high quality, but the selection was a little thin. The hotel was pretty full, but they were very sparing in doling out the food. The pastries were fantastic, but they were very small, and there was only one each of the different fruit flavors. Am I being picky? Maybe, but it was the only other solid complaint I had. Service was great. I see a prior review referring to a Caucasian man with gray hair as rude. If the person checking in was the same guy they are referring to, I had a totally different experience, he, like all the staff, was incredibly friendly. Look, when Hilton springs for a refresh/remodel on this place, it will become a solid "5". Until then, it is a good contender that just pales in comparison to its newer neighbors. read more

In my opinion, this is probably the best place to stay in Alamogordo. Rooms were clean, prices were very decent, breakfast is included. I've stayed here twice about 2 years apart and both times the jacuzzi was not working. Kinda weird. Didn't bother me too much since I hadn't planned on using it anyway. Great location, nearby a few fast food joints and right behind Chili's and across the way from Applebee's. So you have a few dining options that are in walking distance. Definitely would recommend this hotel, Hampton Inn are usually one of my favorite hotel brands anyway. read more

TERRIBLE experience. We cant even file a complaint. We had a reservation confirmation number and the hotel canceled it. Spoke to the rude manager Jessica Black and she offered not help. When we called corporate, they said they would have a response in 48 hours. No response was provided. We called again and still no solution. NEVER EVER AGAIN! Like all Hampton Inns, they provide a solid product. Some Hamptons are brand new and borderline fancy...but this isn't one of them. This Hampton is simple, it's clean, and it's comfortable. Staff are friendly. Rates are good. Parking isn't great, as much of it is around the back...but it's okay. Indoor pool. Didn't see the gym as I did all of my running outdoors. The breakfast here is among the more mediocre that I've encountered at Hamptons. It does the job, but barely. There are plenty of restaurants around, but nothing too good - chains like Carino's, Chili's, Applebee's, IHOP. But Alamogordo really lacks in the food department, so these may be some of your better choices anyways. In the room, everything is clean. The air conditioners are horribly loud and would constantly wake me up, so the sleep wasn't the best. The TVs are nice and large with decent channel selections. WiFi is free and pretty fast. All in all, a nice place to stay in Alamo. read more

The hotel is pretty but you cannot access the front desk by the main entrance . The elevator was out and the biggest peeve of all it is right now 9:15am and the extremely loud housekeepers are vacuuming right outside our door. In a hotel you already don't get 24 hours for your money at least wait until after 11 am to start that cleaning noise. This is one huge reason we have stayed only twice in a hotel in 3 years . When you walk into your room it's like getting punched in the teeth by toxins from all the corner they use in the rooms and bathrooms. Seriously, I was getting light headed from breathing them in. I eventually had to change rooms and let my new room air out for a few hours. Whatever they use to clean has a powerful, bad odor. The pool was ok and the breakfast is nothing to write home about. This place is VERY noisy! The room cleaners seem to always be out in the hallway or in a room next to you cleaning and banging in the walls. VERY noisy! If you are trying to get lots of sleep or have a baby that needs naps, this is not the place for you. I was really impressed by this place. My sister, my neice, and I stayed here for 4 days while visiting family in Alamogordo. The GOOD:The staff was friendly not to mention helpful. They were always smiling and willing to help. The continental breakfast was good. They had a different selection each day that usually included some kind of pre-prepared omelette and a breakfast meat, or sausage, or even breakfast potatoes. They had a waffle maker readily available and french toast sticks one morning. They always had a good selection of cereals and oatmeal with the toppings. They also had muffins, bagels, and juice. One thing I was impressed by was the hard boiled eggs they provided every morning. That may not seem too fancy, but I've never seen a hotel do that. They also always had free hot water, decaf, and regular coffee available in the reception area. The pool and hot tub were very nice and well maintained. The pool and hot tub were open until 11PM, which is really great! The fitness room was nice. It contained a treadmill, elliptical, several different weights, a bench to work with the weights, and exercise weighted balls. The BAD: Not much to be said here. The room was clean enough. Would it pass a white glove test? Probably not. There were a few pistachio shells that didn't belong to us way back under and behind the vanity. I think the little gym area needs a paper towel dispenser and something to wipe down the equipment with. I doubt the staff goes in after every patron to clean the gym equipment. Overall, I think I'd stay at this place again. It's one of the nicer places to stay in Alamogordo. read more

And checking in the kiddos wanted to swim in the indoor pool ( so cool) for this time of the year. I had the pleasure of having a conversation with Jim planning our trip to our next stop Albuquerque NM. Jim offer much information and was kind enough to give it. Our party spent 4 nights at the hotel and parked the vehicle in front of the main entrance each night(approximately 20ft from the door). The last night I had a piece of the exhaust stolen off the truck, which costs $1700+tax for just the replacement part. The hotel staff was informed as soon as I noticed in the morning. I was on the road and they volunteered to file a police report. I returned at the end of the day and the night staff had not received any information on the theft, nor was a report filed. The Alamogordo PD was called with a 'very quick' 2+hr response!!! The hotel has no cameras other than the one monitoring their employees. I chose to stay at a Hampton because I always viewed it as a safe place for me and my family to spend the night away from home. I appears that was a false pretense of security and I will not make that mistake again. I hope other will not as well!! When I informed the staff about the incident all I received was a shoulder shrug and better luck next time type attitude. read more
