However, it was a goal to check out the lodge so that I could attest to others on its history. Emily at the front desk was so nice as well as the manager. They allowed me to walk the hotel, have coffee and cookies, take in the historic site and relax. I asked could I see one of the rooms since online the pictures were great and they have kept the original look and feel. the manager said he had step better than a standard room. He handed me a key to look at the Governors suite (see video). I returned the next day after hiking to have lunch and peruse the gift shop. Prices are a little higher, however the food is pretty amazing. I split a burger and chips. Food is great in the bar area. Dinning opens in evening but requires reservations. Pets are allowed for Small fee There is a golf course across the parking lot. Majestic views and well kept greens. don't be surprised but if you find yourself golfing around the deer, elk or wild horses. If you're lucky, you may see snow which makes all that much more beautiful. There is rich history of the lodge hanging in the walls and in areas to read upon. This used to be timber country and the original lodge burned down years and years and years ago. While at the Lodge check out Cloudcroft museum to take in all the history that included the Lodge, baby sanatorium and 1st Calvary visits, where it all started this beautifully small town.

Join Jasmine and Jim Tritten as they travel south from Corrales down to San Antonio [New Mexico, not Texas], across to Carrizoza, and lunch at the Four Winds Restaurant, then up the hill to Rebeccas's in The Lodge in Cloudcroft. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at The Lodge, and you will too. Just a short four-hour drive - so you should spend the night. Finally, we breakfasted at Big Daddy's Diner and went back home. Click on the following YouTube link to see our report on these three great dining establishments in our very own New Mexico. All have great food, good service, and settings that made our trip worthwhile. https://youtu.be/cUXFV89Elp0?si=4bhPHQGHgMUg-mu2

We ordered pistachio crusted trout and most of their specials: vegetable de jour (Brussels sprouts) appetizer (Escargot), soup of the day (Green Chicken Chile pazole), and steak de jour (ribeye) with potatoes de jour (steak fries). For dessert, we opted for the raspberry sorbet which was light and satisfying. Make sure to ask about the keys to the tower, neat to check out and hopefully you can find Judy Garland name carved there! You take take a drink up their and enjoy the view.

It's a rustic but very nice, if not luxurious "cabin", although it's furnished like a home! It has 3 bedrooms including a master bedroom with a master bedroom bathroom. One of the rooms has bunk beds which my kid and grand kids loved! The main bathroom has a massive jacuzzi tub! The kitchen is fantastic and includes granite counter tops, a full size stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and it's fully stocked with everything you need to cook. There's even a full size washer & dryer which came in handy! The cabin is furnished with free WiFi, an HD TV, Blu-Ray Player and a small assortment of DVD's. The TV has some smart features including Netflix. The front porch is great. We spent a nice afternoon from the porch watching the rain. The back yard, and deck are wonderful, as they are furnished with a tables, chairs a fantastic hot tub, and BBQ Grill. The fenced back yard is great for the kids to explore and run around. When we were not out and about doing activities in town and the surrounding area, the cabin was a welcome fully furnished get away to relax, enjoy home cooked meals, play cards, watch TV, get in the hot tub, and even sleep. We made some great memories, including a visit from the local deer which come pretty close. On top of all that my granddaughter left a pair of blue jeans behind and they were kind enough to call me and insisted upon mailing them back. Now that's great customer service. I would definitely recommend this cabin. It' a bit of a windy, uphill drive to the cabin, but well worth it.

The management her name is Janice was wonderful. We are not young and spry and was having some altitude problems so we were needing some help to load after 5 wonderful, nights here. We offered to pay someone to come over and help us. The owner and manager of Best of Ruidoso showed up at noon and helped us load everything. She would not accept a cent for helping us just wanted us to comeback again with our 2 dogs and stay. She is awesome and we were so excited to have found someone that in the future when we decide to go back will request Rivers Bend Cabin through Best of Ruidoso. In fact from now on I will only use Best of Ruidoso. After all both of her sons graduated fromTexas Tech!!! Big plus for us Red Raider fans to support other Red Raiders. Again y'all service was wonderful and staff went above and beyond to accommodate everything we needed. Thanks so much Janice.
