Management is running this place into the ground. Pool and Spa closed for months now. Elevators are not working yesterday AND today! Really. Bathroom with toothpaste lumps in sink and mysterious gooey stains on the floor, mold in shower. Countertops grimey. We were moved to second room. No better, still gooey and grimey. Thin worn linens, old towels. Never saw a housekeeper. This place looks like it could be very nice. Good room layouts, kitchen area, nice doors and cabinets. Big closets. But add a layer of grime and dirty carpets - you feel like this can't possibly be Marriott. But it is... Be warned.

The fitness center was clean and had very nice, new equipment. It was about a 15-minute drive to the downtown Detroit / Huntington Place convention center area, and we saved a few hundred dollars by staying in the suburbs instead of downtown.

They were also extremely accommodating when I explained that I get over sensory issues and that I did not want to be near an elevator. They found anyway they could to keep me away from that. Also, the pillows appear to be fluffy, however when you lay on them they flatten like paper. The hotel features a small but adequate gym for its size and an indoor pool, which is a nice bonus. We were greeted immediately and the man working offered to upgrade me to a suite, which was really kind. I chose to keep my original room since I needed a king size bed. The room was clean and bright. The bed is super soft, which is fine for me but not for my husband. I love the 24 hour coffee tea and hot chocolate. The pool was nice. There is no hot tub. You must be 18 to go to the fitness room now. My minor son was bummed as he likes to walk on the treadmill next to me. We like the waffles at breakfast and the oatmeal bar. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room - while a bit on the small side - was roomy enough. This would all have been worth the price ($120), but the room also comes with a complimentary breakfast buffet. I would not recommend this property based on my recent experience. We had three rooms reserved for…read morea business stay and chose this hotel expecting the level of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism typically associated with the Marriott brand. Unfortunately, the conditions fell far short. The hallways were dirty, with worn and stained carpeting. The rooms had a strong, unpleasant odor. The tile floors were dirty, the kitchen areas had visible, crusted-on food residue, and the bathrooms were not properly cleaned. The overall condition and smell of the rooms made the stay extremely uncomfortable. In addition, during our stay, we were made aware of ongoing concerns in the area related to activity at the hotel, including frequent disturbances and police presence. This raised serious concerns about safety and the type of environment being maintained at the property. Overall, this experience was disappointing and surprising given the Marriott name. Significant improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and oversight are needed before I would consider staying here again.

There is a Ferris wheel and carnival rides, and benches and gliders beside the river. The hotel has a small business center located near the breakfast area. I would definitely stay here again, and will request a room with river view. Highly recommended!
