We decided to go here for a quick getaway (kids, we love you!) because it was reasonably priced. We knew we'd have to contend with the usual Saturday night delays crossing the border into Canada. The delay ended up not being too bad. The hotel has a parking structure that costs $15 for in-and-out privileges. We accidentally parked in a restricted spot and got a ticket. Expert tip: don't do that!! The room had a beautiful view: they know at the front desk that this is why you're here, so they will give you room options depending on the quality of the view. Make sure to ask in case they don't. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room - while a bit on the small side - was roomy enough. This would all have been worth the price ($120), but the room also comes with a complimentary breakfast buffet. This is a phenomenally well stocked buffet, with sausages, eggs, potatoes, cereal, and a waffle makers (4 of them!!). Definitely worth a return trip. read more

Good location, I wouldn't say there is a TON to do or see in Windsor (sorry?) The room the night before in London was significantly better and better overall 'bang for buck', good $40 cheaper... Priceline and door says 12 pm checkout Front desk says 11 TV is terrible, old basic cable service with picture tube on its last leg (very dark). Although, Just from a technical standpoint, most TVs don't even have a tube anymore. But you get what I mean Parking lot across the street is expensive, rip off ($25 one night; in Windsor!???? Unfortunately parking isn't included ($15CAD extra) but we really enjoyed our stay here. The view of the river is great. The breakfast was delicious and they had a good variety. They were out of bacon when see showed up, so it's probably a good idea to get there at least a half hour before breakfast ends. As of our visit that's 930am. The room was clean. The hotel looked renovated and had a modern look to it. The staff was friendly and it is within walking distance from what appeared be most of the nightlife in the downtown Windsor area. Thank you Best Western Plus and their friendly staff for making my stay in Windsor Ontario a great one!!! Friendly front desk staff, and lovely renovations in the lobby. It's spacious but welcoming at the same time, and Ismelled like a flower garden, soft and subtle without being too overpowering. I tried to find out what they use - no one knew The complementary breakfast is a full meal: Scrambled eggs, Sausages, Home fries, French Toast (too soggy and way too much cinnamon), bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, make your own waffles, coffee, tea, fountain juice (yuck) and the friendliest kitchen staff. Nice bar with view of the Detroit Waterfront - which was lovely at night, and the bartender is a Gem I'm not really a drinker and she managed to make me a cocktail that I actually liked. I suggest the Coconut rum, Blue Curaçao, and Pineapple Juice Rooms are spacious, well equipped, comfy beds, and everything looked and smelled clean. Not sure what was happening with the 5-10 minute wait times for elevators? Hopefully they get that resolved quickly. There's Plenty if parking behind the hotel and it's facing the waterfront with beautiful gardens to walk thru as u enjoy the view of the Detroit Waterfront and the many boats passing by. Also behind the hotel is a quaint little museum with a small seating area. Great little Parkette area to sit in. Huge water park right next door - oh and the Greyhound bus stops right behind this hotel for those not driving. Great for students! Lastly, you're literally 5 minutes away from the bridge into MICHIGAN!! Although it's slow AF, and I suggest using the Tunnel which is only a 10 minute drive from hotel. 10 read more

Stayed here for the Packers and lions game. This place never disappoints, we had hands down the best room in the hotel (1111). Check in was fast and all employees were super attentive. Parking is $18 CAD/night which isnt bad since its very convenient to the hotel. Breakfast buffet is $18/person and is served by the restaurant who is not affiliated with Best Western. I would say go to a small mom and pop shop for a great breakfast. Rooms are big and everything is updated, would say the bathrooms are a little small but I dont know if that is a Canadian thing or not. I spent last night at the Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel, which is next to the Detroit River and across the way from Detroit. The room was $138.40 (before fees/taxes) ... that was the CAA/AAA rate. There was a mini fridge, coffee maker, etc. in my room. WIFI was complimentary ... sometimes it wasn't overly speedy. A hot buffet breakfast was also complimentary. The breakfast room is quite large and there was a good variety of things to eat (bacon, eggs, sausages, fruit, yogurt, waffles, pastries, etc.). Parking was $12 a night for self-parking and the lot is a block away. There is a small business centre in the lobby and a small area to buy chips, snacks, etc. There is a fitness centre and pool in the hotel but I didn't get a chance to check them out. The hotel is handy for walking around. There is a long boardwalk across the street along the river, though it's currently being repaired so you can't get too close to river. There are lots of restaurants nearby and the casino is a couple blocks away. read more

Fantastic hotel! We recently stayed here on our Michigan and Canada roadtrip. We stayed at this place the night before we flew home from Detroit Metro Airport. Everything was top notch and we were simply thrilled with our stay. Here's the scoop: -The front desk stay is very friendly and helpful. We were greeted immediately and treated fabulously. It was the same every time I went up to them. -The room was well maintained and sparkling clean. We had a nice view of the Detroit River and downtown Detroit. It was also pretty quiet and peaceful. -The beds were incredibly comfortable. They felt very nice after the five hour drive we did earlier that day. -They have a free breakfast that was pretty darn good. On the day we went they had waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage, baked beans, pastries, muffins, cereal bar, various fruit, and assorted breads. Not too shabby for an included breakfast. -They have a big parking garage behind their hotel. You do have to cross a small street, but it is an easy and close walk. They do charge for parking though. It was $15. -This hotel is very close to both the Ambassador Bridge and the tunnel to get back to the US. We came over on the bridge and it was about 10 minutes away. We went back over on the tunnel, which was also about 10 minutes away. -Great price! When we went, the exchange rate made this a very good deal. We paid $96 US for the room (on Hotels.com) and $9 US for parking fee. -They have a pool and gym, but we did not visit either during our stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. They have a workout room with equipment, but it's being renovated. Luckily there is one on the third floor next door at the Hilton Doubletree because the same guy owns both. If you love third-world migrants that we Canadians are paying for, then look no further than this hotel because they are staying here! read more

If you stay here in Winter, plan on freezing in your room. The heater blows semi-cold air and there is no way to adjust the temperature higher than around 20deg C (68F). If you like a nice and cozy 22-23 C, good luck. I mean you literally have to warm up the room with your breath and body heat!! I had to sleep in my street clothes to keep warm and take hot showers to stop shivering. For a $180/night, this is some rip off. Also if you insist on staying here, dont get the basic room because the mattress is worse than in a homeless shelter. read more

We enjoyed our stay. It was a brief stay as we were on our way to Toronto, but this was a nice hotel. The location is great. It is right on the Detroit River and many rooms (including ours) have a great view of the river and the city itself. Check in was easy. You do have to park in an adjacent lot and the elevated walkway was being renovated so we had to use the creaky elevator in the parking garage, but it really wasn't a big deal. The hotel itself was clean. The room was a little small and it felt a little crammed with furniture, but it was clean and comfortable and quiet. They had a decent breakfast in the morning. It was busy and the staff fell behind at times. I saw people waiting at various stations for food to be refilled, but part of the problem is that people take TONS of food when it is put out. Seriously, they'd bring out a pan of bacon and people would ravage it within minutes. There was also a full breakfast option. We were given vouchers when we checked in, but we decided to not use them because we wanted to eat and get going. The pool was nice. We also enjoyed the sauna. We did not use the fitness center, but it was conveniently located next to the pool and it had a great view of Detroit. This is a pretty solid place to stay and we'd consider it again the next time we're out that way. read more

Staff helpful, but manager Karim, unhelpful and abrasive, said HE determined when they were busy, so he routes calls to Reservations.. I and another guest asked him why at that time, as the front desk was silent, two people there, no guests.. not busy at all. So Karim just said HE determined when they were busy, and that's that.... We're cancelling our reservations for next weekend in Toronto and won't use this chain again. Really shoddy. read more

There have been better days for this Hilton. Decor looks quite outdated; a reno was done, but maybe twenty years ago. Spent three nights here for a work function. I was on the 13th floor facing Detroit. Beautiful view! Looking out made me feel so guilty about saying crap about Motown. The room is cluttered with furniture that it was a tad hard to walk around when I also had my luggage with me. On the other hand, there IS free Internet in the room. Water pressure in the washroom was terrible ... thankfully I had bottles of water so I was able to brush my teeth. After mentioning this little problem, front desk quickly sent up someone. In spite of the ugly, I found staff to be super friendly and courteous. Windsor is ... nice ... albeit small for a city girl like myself. The Hilton room was reserved for me by work so I didn't have any choice in the matter. It's a-ok. Definitely not the poster 'child' for the Hilton brand. read more

I wanted to stay at the Caesars but was not willing to pay double the price as the Waterfront. So my boyfriend and I chose to stay here for the weekend. We booked the room with a partial view so it was an okay view. We got to visit our friend's room with the panoramic view and it was so nice! So I definitely agree with other TripAdvisor members that the view is spectacular. The hotel definitely needs a facelift because it is very old looking. The driveway entrance in front of the hotel is very small and will only allow 1-2 cars to be in it. However, there were cars parked in it so it's annoying to have to reverse out onto the road. Parking is $12 (plus tax) per day which is kind of lame because it's not even the hotel's property. You have to park in a parking garage across the street that is behind the hotel. Luckily they have a convenient back door for you to use. Our room was clean and was fully stocked with towels when we checked in. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in which was nice. The complimentary breakfast is definitely not worth waking up early for. Their sign in the lobby is very misleading. There are no sunny-side up eggs, bacon, or home fries. The breakfast buffet was pretty sad. There was sausage (which were dry and tasted below average), scrambled eggs (not made from real eggs AND had hair in it), yogurt, toast, english muffins, cereal, and waffles. I have to say that the complimentary breakfast at Holiday Inn was WAY better. I'm pretty sure once the hotel is renovated it would be much more appealing for guests. Came back again this week and they delivered an exercise ball after I complained on Friday and via email over the weekend. Too bad it was the smallest one I have ever seen (unusable). Don't understand why you can't get anything to eat after 10PM. Whirlpool wasn't hot enough and shutoff after 5 minutes. They gave me free "giant breakfast". I am a Hilton Diamond and get the free continental. They add eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes for $7 more. Not worth it. They needed omelets or pancakes. read more

The room I had a few days back had a truly breathtaking view. Panoramic over the river looking at all the big buildings across and an XL Canada flag to the right. Now as for the included "breakfast" . . . Well let's just say I am not a morning or breakfast person. My girlfriend had to pretty much drag me out of bed to go - and believe you me, I put up a fight even though my eyes were red and I was tired I resisted as best I could. I have been to these breakfast things all over the world and they generally suck so I don't really bother going. By the second day I was waking her up to go for breakfast. It is literally breakfast heaven! It's more of a full on buffet than a basic continental breakfast where you get some bread, butter and boiled or scrambled eggs. They even have a damn waffle station! A waffle station!! And ain't nobody telling me how much whipped cream, cinnamon, powdered sugar and sprinkles I am putting on my beautiful waffle. I had 3 the first day. They are huge. Two separate wait staff came by to comment about diabetes and insulin spikes. Girlfriend was embarrassed but I loved them! The French toast fries were fantastic, eggs were great, fruits and veggies plentiful and they didn't even mind that I took my plate up with me after since I filled up on waffles. The pool is also great and the gym had all the cardio machines overlooking the river which is pretty nice after you devoured 3 large loaded waffles. All in all, I go for the view but stay for the breakfast. If you have a chance to visit I highly recommend this place. Pro Tip : Brought my 4KG pup with me. I think it was $20 per night extra but worth it. He enjoyed d the waffles as well. read more

We stayed here celebrating a friends birthday for just one night in their junior suite. The hotel itself was very nice and I have no complaints about the amenities they offered. We came back from bars a little after 1am with a group of 8 girls. Maybe we were being a little louder than usual, but nothing obnoxious at all. As we got into the elevator someone working for the hotel followed us in and warned us that it was quite hours at 10pm and if we did not oblige we would be fined $200. We all politely thanked her for letting us know, but her tone was no where near understanding or friendly. Not even 5 minutes after we got into our room, their was a security guard knocking on our door screaming at us telling us that we had the room over occupied, we were being VERY loud, and that she was going to wait until 4 people left the room. As we walked down the hall we watched as the same security guard was yelling at another room of 4 people for being too loud and laughing too loud. After the 4 of us had got into the elevator to leave our friends still in the room said that security knocked for a 2nd time telling them this was their 2nd strike for noise and the 3rd time they were going to call the police. This hotel treated us like children and we did not pay $400 for a room for this kind of service. If you are planning on visiting Windsor for fun with friends at all, do not stay here. read more

This is an old hotel and should not be under the Hilton brand. I complained to management but they don't care as they rely on casino business. The drapes have never been vacuumed and everything seems old and worn. For what they charge you can do better. Nice view of Detroit and the bar downstairs has decent food but both times i was there it seemed a ghost town. WiFi is wired which is so 90's so i couldn't use my ipad or iPhone and that was not a nice evening! Not business traveler friendly at all. read more

Not a great experience. We checked in and was given a room number with keys. We get to our room and the key doesn't work. I then go back to the front desk where they verify my name and give me the key back. I go back up to my room and walk into an occupied room, no one was in it but all their belongings were. I quickly left the room. I go back to the front desk and in deed they messed up, not once when they checked me in but then when they verified my name and gave me the wrong key again. Needless to say, I was upset, they credited me my parking. Unbelievable. I was so worried that my room was going to gotten into due to their non attention to detail that I had the privacy door hanger on my door the whole stay. Gave it two stars as the view was amazing. Really uncertain how to review this place. I think it does pretty well under the circumstances but maybe there is just not enough business in Windsor to justify good maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Service was excellent -- front desk people were really friendly and efficient. Too bad they couldn't fix any of my problems. Internet was down for full THREE DAYS of my stay. Really? How is that possible? Are we in Iqaluit? The staff did send us over to the Radisson next door to sit in their (rather dire) lobby for WIFI. Room had a million dollar view of the Detroit River. Huge bank of windows, very comfortable bed. Good coffee service. Alas, only one phone worked and it was never a sure thing that the toilet was going to flush. So my rating is an average of some things being 4 stars and some things being two (or worse). Bonus points for a great jogging walking path across the street. This place is such a find! We stumbled upon it searching Hotels.com for a little weekend getaway to Detroit, and we couldn't have been happier. It is just across the river from Detroit in Windsor, ON, and it has spectacular views of the the river and the river walk. The rooms are spacious, and the location couldn't be better. There is no restaurant or room service, but plenty of local delivery services make up for that. Parking is very reasonable, as well. Went here for lunch with a business associate. We went to both lunch and have a business meeting, the restaurant was not busy (Wednesday) and quiet. Perfect. We were invited to choose any table, but when we did the waitress (working alone) said that we had to move closer to other diners (two other tables) - I guess she didn't want too much exercise! The food was OK - but very weird service - as if she didn't listen. I asked for blackened salmon (as on the menu). Instead she decided to bring me salmon with a lemon sauce! My associate ordered a club sandwich on white bread. She decided to bring him a club sandwich on toasted wheat bread!! This hotel is gorgeous! It would normally be out of my price range, but I had a discount from a rewards booking site so I jumped on the opportunity to stay here. (It was listed as the Riverside Inn, but the old Riverside lobby forwarded all guests to the Waterfront Hotel.) All of the rooms have a view. I'm sure some are better than others, but it's safe to say there is not a bad view in the entire hotel. The view from the breakfast buffet is also amazing, even on a cloudy and rainy day. The rooms and hallways are in great condition. They are slightly worn, but not bad at all. I was shocked to read people criticizing "marks on the walls" in other reviews. If you are looking at the walls instead of the window view and judging wear and tear, then you have bigger problems than the slight wear on your hotel room. We stayed in a King room, and the bed was extremely comfortable and the room was huge. The furniture is all pretty dated with some dings, but it's still a great room with an amazing view. The breakfast is pretty cool, with a do-it-yourself waffle-maker and a small hot food selection. There is plenty of baked goods, bagels and toast, cereal and oatmeal. It was well stocked, even after 9:00am, and someone helped me when I didn't know how to use the waffle iron. The panoramic view is great. Housekeeping was friendly to us in the hallways and asked us if we needed anything every time we passed by in the hall. We also had a mini-fridge delivered to our room for free. Huge plus. Parking is $12 a day across the street, or free at Caesar's with a 5-10min walk. We decided to pay for parking and it was worth it, because we used the in and out privileges a lot. Do NOT take the elevator walkway from the parking garage to the hotel though... it is a long winding walk when you could just cross the outside street to the hotel. We got a fantastic rate as the hotel is undergoing renovations. The lobby is torn apart...wires hanging from the ceiling (behind the front desk), lobby restaurant closed, etc. The room itself, while the bed has been updated, still needed repairs..the wallpaper seams are visible (seperating), however it was totally eclipsed by the gorgeous view from the room. Getting to the hotel from the parking garage was a challenge, as the pathway takes you through several doors and is maze-like (I now know how lab mice feel) ...the pathway dumps you in the lobby of the hotel next door (The Riverside Hotel)..we had to go outside and walk over to our hotel. The view of the Detroit River and skyline from the room was spectacular...it is obviously the biggest selling feature of the hotel. We spent the night at this Best Western hotel. Our hotel room had a great view of the Detroit River and the newer part of Detroit. There is a park in front of the hotel with a walking trail. The room was large and clean. The lobby looked new and the staff was friendly. The bathroom was clean, though small. I recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Windsor. Asked him whether there were parking accommodations as to which he said yes, so I was really surprised to see a $16 charge for parking the next day. We didn't even park in the roofed lot, which is the lot they charge for (as states on their site), so I'm not sure what's going on. Tried to contact the hotel AND customer service, no response. The windows in the room were so dirty I couldn't even see the riverfront well, I can't believe people stay here. If you're going to advertise a view, at least make it seen. What a joke. read more

We booked a room with a panoramic view of the Detroit River and we were not disappointed! We had the top floor, and the view was spectacular. Our room was very clean, nicer than most places we had seen being advertised. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was clean, modern and trendy - the actual breakfast was good too. The only downside is that the parking lot is a few minutes away from the hotel. You can walk outside, but if you take the inside corridors, it takes you through these abandoned hallways. It's kinda sketchy and slightly unnerving. They don't let you borrow a wine glass to your room unless you buy a drink from them. Duh. The bar staff has zero knowledge on wine, when I asked where their chardonnay was oaked or unoaked, the lady looked so annoyed and without saying anything threw a glass and poured the chardonnay like "you figure it out" I grabbed whatever there paying $9 to just bring the wine glass to my room so I can enjoy a nice glass of Tempranillo for rest of the evening. read more

I had a pleasant stay during the march break. The service was quite good, I had a room overlooking the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit river. The room was good, large bathroom and comfortable beds. The swimming pool was quite small compared to many other Hilton's. It is right along the riverfront, and I recommend taking early morning walks along the riverfront. Stayed here the other night because me and a few friends were going to a Redwings game. Great hotel, in a really nice location. It was nice having the bus stop right behind the hotel as we used the special transit to cross the river. The hotel itself is super clean and pretty up to date. As it turns out my reservation was for the previous day, not the day that I arrived, and I was charged $400.00 for a no show . My boyfriend and I decide to check out the Best Western hotel and they were SUPER accommodating. We were provided a suite with a panoramic view of the river at a discount ... thank God for people that go above and beyond to provide the greatest customer service in a situation that was of no fault of theirs. They have a large free continental breakfast downstairs in the lobby. The only thing that is not convenient is the parking. The hotel is clean and updated. We stayed in a king room on the 21st floor. We had a great view of the river. The best part of the stay was the free continental breakfast. I was expecting coffee, muffins and yogurt. There was a full breakfast available with eggs, sausage, hash browns, French toast, cereal, Belgium waffles you can make yourself. The breakfast staff were very friendly and went around and refilled people's coffee and took away plates. The hotel is in a great location to walk along the river, go to the casino and bars on the main strip. We came for Detroit tigers game and they even had a shuttle for $5 to take you to the game. What a disappointment. My husband and I took our two young kids across the border for an overnight "in another country!" I chose the Best Western Waterfront because its website boasts: "Perched along the banks of the Detroit River, the hotel offers views of the water and the downtown Detroit skyline from every room." They also have a heated saltwater pool. I figured this would be a perfect place to end our day adventure. 1. The parking situation is not bad, but the staff at the front desk is not all aware of how it works. Both the front desk and the parking deck staff each told me the other was responsible for providing our ticket for the parking deck, which would allow us to leave and come back as we please for a flat rate. After walking back and forth twice between the hotel and the parking deck to get it straightened out, a more seasoned hotel staff member gave me the ticket that we used to exit the garage the next day. It was annoying. 2. We discovered via a printed notice at the front desk at check-in that the pool was closed for the weekend for maintenance. This was a huge disappointment; we'd timed our afternoon activities around the kids having plenty of time to swim. To not find out it was closed until the end of our day when we were checking in stunk. And the woman at the front desk apologized, but really didn't seem to care. (I'm sure she'd been hearing it all day, but that *is* part of her job.) Maybe the timing was unavoidable, but scheduling pool maintenance over a weekend in the summer didn't make a ton of sense to me. 3. Every room has a view of the water. Right. Our fourth floor window was directly over a lower rooftop of the building. There was even a maintenance ladder across half the window for extra effect! The "view" of the river was a sliver far in the distance. What a joke. Complimentary breakfast was plentiful and fine. Nothing to boast about. The one bright spot was Renee, who was working in the dining area, clearing tables. She was friendly and charming and chatted with us for a few minutes, asking about our adventure and offering suggestions for our next visit. This stay was not worth the money we paid.
