The corner rooms are relatively large in this Hampton Inn with two large picture windows. I would recommend the 226 or 326 room numbers - There is a washer and dryer facility located on the first floor $1.50 per wash and per dry. There is a relatively average workout room with three recomment bicycles, one lifetime treadmill, and some free weights. Breakfast is standard and if you don't get there before 7 AM in the morning it's slim chances- unfortunately the fruit on the days that I stayed the bananas were a grayish green and there was only one apple when I would get down at seven in the morning. I refuse to get up before 630 to get any kind of breakfast. Parking lot is large and the hotel is located within walking distance of many food locations ( Subway, Dairy Queen, Jimmy John's, fast food). Staff were pleasant.. I stayed here for a few days on a work trip. The employees were super friendly and nice, breakfast was decent, (had mini omelette, bagels, waffle maker, yogurt, breakfast potatoes, sausage, water, juice) but my shower was kinda gross. It had mildew stains all along the bottom of the shower door. My main issue was on my first night there I went to sleep and happened to turn on the light to find a bug on the bed which I quickly smashed without a second thought. I threw back the sheets and checked for any more without finding anything. Over the next two days I started getting bug bites which I assumed were mosquito bites since they love me. But I noticed I wasn't getting the usual welts it was more like a rash and I continued to get more once I got back home. So I googled it and the bug I saw and the bites I was getting were consistent with bed bugs. I immediately cleaned my bedding and trash bagged some clothes and called the hotel to let them know the room had bed bugs. I was simply told, thanks for letting us know, and that was the end of the conversation. read more

I like Hampton Inns because they are economical and predictable. This one wasn't any different. The staff her is very friendly. The desk people were very professional. The breakfast server had lots of smiles under her mask and very service oriented. The housekeeper even had smiles and was polite. The room was clean and spacious. The linens were fresh. The room was orderly and in good repair. Overall you Dan see that this facility is starting to age. The east elevator sounded like a death trap. It was loud, shook and had a grinding sound. The shower pan had done interesting red, brown and black stains in the caulk. Done if the wall paper was not installed well. The promo decal on the inside of the elevator was peeling off. I would give this place a try. It will be okay and you will find good value and a good nights sleep. Just don't get caught up in the facility wear and tear issues. read more

We decided to get a room just to get out of the house and let the kids swim a little bit. I have stayed here before and was impressed, but never had the opportunity to leave a review, so I wanted to take the time to do so. We were in the king sized suite. It was very spacious, and comes with a mini fridge, microwave, a desk with a couple of chairs, and a pullout couch. The room was very clean and we had plenty of bedding and towels. The only issue I had with the room was that the HBO didnt work, but that was not a big deal. The pool was of average size and stocked with towels. They have a lift for handicapped people who want to get in. I did use the fitness center as well. It was basic, but most hotels usually are. It had a treadmill, elliptical, exercise bike, and a bench. It also had a rack of dumbbells, a couple of medicine balls, and kettle balls. As I have started a new diet I was extremely pleased with the breakfast that was offered. Bran muffins, bagels, yogurt, with assorted fruit chunks, hard boiled eggs, and smoothies. They also had scrambled eggs with ham, turkey sausage, potatoes, a waffle maker with chocolate chips and walnuts, and cereal. Across the hall next to the front desk there is also a little pantry store that the hotel sold items. Anything from toothbrushes to snacks and drinks. The hotel staff were very friendly. read more

I am in Muncie once a month for work and this is my go to hotel. The decor is a little dated in the rooms but they do a good job with maintenance so it doesn't feel run down. I would spend the extra money and get a suite every time. Definitely worth it the extra couple of bucks. The hotel is fairly quiet and the rooms are comfortable. read more

We were EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED! We had driven over eight hours and we were exhausted from the trip, so we were expecting two comfortable night's sleep. After checking in at the concierge desk, we were given a third-floor room. The moment when we stepped from the elevator we were met with a horrible blast of heat and about ten noisy blowers blowing HOT air at full capacity! The floors were damp, and it was dark in the corridor! The wallpaper was peeling and flapping in the gushing air, and there was NO AIR CONDITIONER operating, apparently! It was a stifling, unsanitary, unsightly mess! No other person was on the third floor. It was like an abandoned floor. My spouse's eyes started burning because of the irritants of God-knows-what blowing and swirling around us. Who, in their right mind would even THINK of sending guests to stay in such a place? We weren't going to accept this, so we returned to the concierge desk. My spouse managed to keep his self-control when he confronted the two desk clerks, all the while the two clerks gave him an uneasy look--knowing full-well that no person should've been sent to that floor for even a minimal amount of time. Then one of the clerks attempted to explain that a rainstorm had caused major damage to the hotel. And to add insult to injury, he had the unmitigated gall to say, "Some people only care about appearance." CUSTOMERS/GUESTS are not only paying for "appearance," but also for comfort, security, and fairness. There was no sincere apology offered, and apparently no embarrassment for the horrible circumstances they were putting us through. Looking morose, if not nonchalant, the clerk gave us a room on the first floor (main floor), and it was slightly better than the third floor. About ten blowers were blowing at top capacity in the corridor and the wallpaper was stripped from the walls on the first floor as well! The only difference was, there was light and air conditioning on the first floor. Once my spouse and I had settled in our room--hoping we would get reasonable sleep at night even with all that blowing noise--we left the hotel to get something to eat. When we returned with leftover food, we then discovered the refrigerator wasn't working. It was warmer than the Bahamas! Was it plugged in? Was the refrigerator thermostat working at all? Our time at this Hampton Inn & Suite was sleepless and uncomfortable. And the noisy, perpetual blowing of the blowers and the dehumidifier only added to the continual misery during our stay. The frustration was too much! So, I took a video of the corridor flanked with loud blowers. The concierge/clerks' Que Sera, Sera attitude was just the tip of the iceberg! We were not given any text message or any form of contact about the hotel being damaged before our arrival. Our comfort was the least of Hampton Inn & Suites' worries, apparently. I have the "receipts" (the video) of this fiasco! And to think, we were supposedly in the "Hilton Honors" program. Hampton Inn didn't even offer even a small percentage of our money back. The few photos I have shown don't even compare to the loud noise in the video. And there are more photos to show. ----------------------------------------------------------- (UPDATE to 3 stars) My husband and I have recently heard from the General Manager of Hampton Inn and Suites, and she sincerely apologized for the inconvenience during our two-day stay. A percentage of our money was returned as well, with the understanding that their customers' comfort will always be of foremost concern. We have accepted her apology on the belief that Hampton Inn and Suites will make the necessary changes and improvements to the satisfaction of their loyal customers. I only stayed here at the Hampton for one night, but I had a good experience. The room was very spacious for me. The staff was very friendly and nice. The room was nice and clean when I first came into it. The only sad thing was the thin curtains on the window were torn, but I could cover that up with the thicker curtains. I've stayed there a few times when visiting my hometown and have never been disappointed. Muncie has several motel options to choose from, most of which are on the outskirts of town not far from the Ball State campus. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to stay at several of them. Ironically, I was in Muncie raising funds for an organization tied into a project with a soon to be completed Courtyard by Marriott. With that hotel not yet an option, I was fortunate to have this hotel sponsored by a donor during a recent fundraising event stop in Muncie. This was my second Hampton Inn stay during this trip, the first being in Marion, and this was definitely a superior facility in pretty much every way. When you're in a wheelchair, advance planning is pretty much an essential ingredient in planning. The word "accessible" means different things to different people and that's also true in the business world. The Hampton Inn is a terrific example of this - they have rooms that offer more traditional access, think roll-in showers and various grab bars, and then they have modestly accessible options including a lower tub with a handrail. By the time my sponsor kicked in with this room, the modestly accessible option was available and I was certain I could handle it even traveling alone. After having a less than impressive experience in Marion, I was a tad nervous about what "access" might mean here but my fears were needless. While the accessibility was as described, a lower tub with a handrail, both bathroom and room were delightfully spacious and offered plenty of mobility for a wheelchair without fear of bumping into walls, furniture or anything breakable. The downstairs lobby area was clean, contemporary and offered pretty easy wheelchair access. The decor was modern but fairly simple and straightforward. Everything in the room was functional. The continental breakfast included eggs, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, rolls, etc. I want to say they also had pancakes, though I've slept since then and may be wrong. The bed height was pretty decent. I sometimes can have an issue with transferring when I'm traveling alone, but there's a bedside stand that helped give me some leverage. I did have some issues with the internet, though I'll offer up the disclaimer that I was also having issues with my own computer. Hampton Inn has the usual business center, fitness center and meeting rooms. It's located relatively close to the Ball State campus and definitely seemed to attract a finer clientele with its contemporary lobby and dining area. It should be noted that they offer free wifi, though they have a premium wifi upgrade for $4.95 for a 24-hour period. I believe that Hilton Rewards Members automatically get the upgrade. I found the staff to be friendly, though not necessarily to the point that made me want to come back. It was more service than hospitality. The Hampton Inn is located in a pretty decent business district with restaurants and other businesses easily within walking/wheeling distance. If I had my way, I'd probably dip down to a 3.5 star rating for the Hampton Inn but since I can't really find anything too negative to say I feel that going 3-star is simply too low. So, I'll stick with a 4-star rating but acknowledge that nothing drew me to the point that I would rush back on a return trip to Muncie. The Hampton Inn has good customer service, a warm/friendly decor, comfortable rooms and was overall a great way to relax after a hard day of wheeling. read more

We stayed here one night before a campus visit at Ball State. The hotel is super easy to get to and very nice, clean and modern. The front desk staff was helpful at check-in. Love the Hilton app to be able to check in and choose my room. We were in Room 408 overlooking the parking lot, Rural King and could see the football stadium as well. The room was very clean and comfy. It was a little cold, but with the ability to set the temperature to what we want was nice. It was raining on and off and we weren't sure if the fireworks would go off, so we ended up watching them from the room. The breakfast area was immaculate and the usual Hampton Inn Breakfast - waffle maker, yogurt, bagels, sausage, eggs, juices and coffee. Great way to start off our day before heading to Ball State. I would definitely recommend this location and will be staying here the next time we are visiting Muncie! read more

We think of a good hotel providing comfort, among other things. But usually that means a nice, quiet room with a clean, cozy bed. The Muncie Hampton Inn provided all of that, but also provided me comfort of a different kind. I came to town to visit my father, who was terminally ill. I expected to stay a few days and visit as often as possible with the months he had left. Unfortunately he declined quickly and passed away much sooner than expected, so what was originally a four-day visit ended up being a three-week stay. The management and staff of the Muncie Hampton Inn could not have been nicer, more caring, or sympathetic. Aware of my situation, they always found room for me even when they were busy, and didn't make me change rooms, even though I offered. One night I came back from a long day at the hospital to find a card from the entire staff in my room; another night one of the staff brought brownies for my family. The cards left by the housekeeping staff in my room often included little notes of sympathy and encouragement. Every morning at breakfast the staff would ask how my family was doing, and over time I got to know each of them. Most had lost a family member at some point in time, and we shared our experiences together. Any hotel can, and should, provide a clean, quiet and convenient experience, but this particular Hampton Inn and Suites gave me something extra in making an incredibly difficult time for me and my family just a little easier. And that's a bargain at any price. read more

We stayed here for the first time since they remodeled. There were many upgrades and improvements noted. We were greeted by the very friendly front desk staff at check-in. They made sure I was recognized as an Honors Member and gave me the Honors treats to enjoy. The lobby was all decorated for Christmas and looked very nice and inviting. The room was clean and the redecorated amenities made the room look bigger than before. The breakfast staff served up a very good breakfast and were attentive to the needs of the guests that filled the room. I still like the homemade waffles the best. I am sorry to write this update, but feel I should warn other guests as to the oversight at the front desk that we've experienced. We have traveled extensively to Muncie due to family being there and recently, a death in the family. From the end of October to mid-December, we stayed with this Hampton Inn. From that time, we experienced a decrease in service, not limited to but including our room not being cleaned (at all). We complained to the front desk and they advised us they would talk to housekeeping. We continued to have the same issue and continued to speak to the front desk manager about this. She promised us that she would take care of it and ADD points to our Hilton Honors for our trouble. None of the promises she made were kept. Finally, we scheduled a stay mid-December and decided we'd rather drive to Indianapolis to avoid the cleanliness issue. We canceled the reservation and made one in Indy and stayed overnight there. However, we were charged for the Muncie room. After THREE weeks of debate, Hilton Corporate has finally refunded our money. Muncie personnel refused the refund. In light of their steep decline in customer service and honest business practices, we will not be staying here again. The drive to Indy is well worth the trouble. read more

Upon arrival, we did receive recognition for being Honors Rewards members. We also found a nice note of welcome from the manager with a candy bar. This hotel is really showing its age. Our stay was for 6 nights. Housekeeping policies for extended stays were not adequately explained to us upon check in. We later understood that there was "no" cleaning for extended stays. I felt like we had to "beg" for towels each day. On the last night, it took two requests for clean towels. After the first day (and we were all settled in), we noticed mold on the sheer curtains. (No wonder our noses ran like crazy when we were in the room.) The housekeeping person we talked with apologized profusely and said it should not have happened. They replaced the curtains the same day. The manager even left an apology note with two boxes of M&Ms. The hotel is on the calendar to be remodeled in November. It desperately needs it. The bathroom vanity was so tall and had an 8" lip on the front of the sink that it was difficult for a short person as myself to even reach the sink to brush my teeth. I don't understand Hampton's way of making beds, particularly in the summer. They have those heavy comforters that look pretty but are not appropriate for summer. We like to take it off and use the light blanket that is usually found in the closet. But again, we had to ask for one. It just seemed that the staff of this hotel was trying their best to please their guests. But it seemed that somehow their hands were tied. I did appreciate their efforts. read more

Checkin was so easy...took 30 seconds. We were treated as guests vs a nuisance. The lobby is plush. Free coffee and beverages all the time. The room is gorgeous and bed comfy. A little pricier than what we were hoping for, but it was a busy weekend in town. We stayed there for two nights while in town for a Viking run. Checked in to our room via internet as Hilton Honors guest. Simple check-in at the desk to receive a key. The hotel is just off the main through road-easy to get to, conveniently located, but just far enough off the road to be quiet. It's clean, I'm guessing recently renovated. We stayed in a room on the second floor - a two room suite. It was at the end of the hall, quiet, large, clean and comfortable. The online request for foam pillows was taken care of. The breakfast was typical of free breakfasts. But the area was clean, tables quickly cleaned as guests left the dining area. The serving area was well stocked, clean, food fresh and hot (or cold). Coffee was hot and plenty of it. I checked out the pool-it was indoors, clean and warm-fresh towels available. The workout room was clean with some free weights and treadmills. The laundry room was also clean, coin operated machines available. Ice machines on each floor - vending machines not available, though there is a nice selection of items to purchase near the front desk. read more
