I prefer top notch hotels which aren't easy to choose from a haul on the road. This one wasn't that. However, it had 'other' amenities. We enjoyed talking to the manager and the other occupants. It was casual and friendly. The rooms were clean and supplied abundantly. Our only complaint is that the rooms had an odd odor. Not horrible but perhaps ozone spray covering a smoking scent. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable and that's what we really needed. read more

11/28/2025 we were holiday weekend guest with Hampton Inn & Suites in Peru, IL. The facility just went thru a major renovation and was fantastic. Everything was nice and clean, the staff were welcoming and our room was warm and comfy, it was 19* when we checked in. Jalapeño Mexican restaurant is just across the parking lot which was an AMAZING dinner. The facility has a pool, laundry, gym and breakfast for your pleasure. There were slight hwy sounds as this location sits next to hwy 80 and our room was on the back side. Perhaps the rooms facing the parking lot are a bit quieter but all in all the hwy sounds were not that bad. Nice hot shower with great water pressure, nice big tv in our room with comfy beds, pillows and linen. Nothing like being a Hilton member. read more

My travel partner and I had a really nice 1 night stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Peru, IL as we were only there for a wedding. There are other hoteliers (you can figure them out for yourself) at this level price range, in small rural towns off interstates who'd compete fiercely for your dollar. At this particular Hilton property, we were told that they're actively renovating and upgrading the furniture. We were escorted by a very professional morning manager to see a nice first floor level room having new amenities before committing to the stay. Honestly, in ALL MY worldly travels, I can't remember being offered to see the actual room of stay, before committing! We were pleasantly surprised! The room was bright, nicely lit, a new Samsung TV, new microwave, a mini fridge, loveseat sofa, a large desk with 2 comfortable chairs, and a clean bathroom area with a LARGE impressive mirror. Almost everything looked new, so we took the room on the spot and summarily cancelled our reservation at the competing property next door. However, what really made the short stay memorable, was the down home friendliness of ALL the staff...BUT most especially the two front desk managers Mary and Natalia. They were engaging and easy to talk with. From all appearances, it was a genuine characteristic they both shared to all the guests that I saw them encounter. After a decent night's sleep (the bed was comfortable with no pillow issues)...LOL, our next favorite part was the included morning breakfast. It was a huge spread in a very bright welcoming large breakfast restaurant type atmosphere. There were 4 types of coffee, creamers, teas, milks, various juices, muffins, mini scones, breakfast potatoes and sausage, cheese omelettes, hot oatmeal, dry breakfast cereals...but the BEST was the easy 3 minute do-it-yourself Belgian waffle maker! It'll make a rather large waffle that'll easily serve 2 people. They provided two pre-mixed batters (I did a 1/2 n 1/2 mix of lemon & vanilla). It was flawlessly good, topped with strawberry compote, apple compote, whipped cream and maple syrup!!! There's a nice kitchen staff constantly cleaning and checking to see if you need anything or assistance. After eating a little of mostly everything described above, we were more than satisfied and fortified for the 2 hour drive home. Really considering doing the Starved Rock State Park, so we'd have no hesitation for a return stay at this property. read more

I could best describe this hotel as somewhere extended family stays when parsing through the remains of a recently deceased relatives belongings. Is that specific? Yes. Do you know what I'm talking about? Probably. The rooms are archaic and poorly cared for. Take for example my shower: the soap shelf was just gone. I don't know where it went, I don't know if someone took it, I don't know if I missed the opt-in for a complete shower upon check in. I'm all shoulders. read more

Shower water only got cool. We turned it to full HOT and water never got warm even after we ran the water for 5-7 mins. Interior- Safety door latch did not work it was installed incorrectly was not lined up so much for the safety door latch. read more

We stay in many Hampton Inns, and this one is a good one. Excellent location, close to I80, Target, several restaurants and gas stations. This has been renovated recently, and has the new kitchen layout, free WiFi and a nice pool. What made our stay worthwhile here was the friendly staff and excellent breakfast. The food was hot, fresh and the tables were cleaned quickly as people left. Check out Jalepeno's next door for a meal. Good Mexican food, or there is a Red Lobster a few doors down. My only complaint was that the people above us were loud, I wish the hotel was built with better noise deadening materials. We have stayed here several times and will be back for sure. read more

Very clean, courteous staff, quiet despite being next to outside door, ice machine & pool. Warm cookies on arrival, hot tea all day & 24 hour workout room/business center. I am a Hilton Honors Member. I would like to also say that I would prefer to stay at a Hampton Inn whenever I get a chance to when traveling. You will on occasion get a disappointing experience for whatever the reason may be. And this is one of those times. It was disappointing because of the service from the manager that I did not expect from this brand. I reserved 10 rooms for group outing and was hoping to use the meeting room for a couple of hours. The manager insisted there be a $100.00 charge. On a few occasions at other locations, they let us use the meeting rooms because of the amount of rooms that we used as long as it wasnt reserved. read more

Jacuzzi doesn't work and reception said that they are never fixing it, Hampton told her that they are going to fill it with dirt because to fix it would cost too much. Jacuzzi has slime and mold coating the walls. We were bummed that the spa was broken and should have been told this when we checked in as I would have gone to the Holiday Inn or Fairfield next door. Our showerhead in the room was broken so this hotel is showing signs of neglect. We wish we stayed somewhere else. WIFI never worked. read more

Having to come to La Salle for a work trip, I was faced with may an option for choosing a hotel. After some slight investigation, finding out that the Hampton Inn was only two years old and less expensive than the Holiday Inn Express, I decided to book my room--I was even more excited to find out that they have a AAA discount! Nothing huge, but I'll take the $10.00/day. After driving about a six hour trek from snowy Michigan, my friend Michelle M. and I were beyond excited to be greeted by a friendly smile and a plate of fresh baked cookies. I think that was when I knew I made the right choice. There was also a wide assortment of tea and coffee just sitting in the lobby waiting to be consumed. We painlessly checked in and found our way to our room. The room was a little on the small size, but was fine for two adults. Each room has its own refrigerator and microwave and flat screen television. The pool and whirlpool area were open until 10 p.m. so we were able to lounge for a bit before retiring to our room to watch Hoarders and Say Yes to the Dress. The Continental Breakfast was amazing! There was an oatmeal station, eggs, potatoes, cereal (Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Raisin Bran) as well as fruit, muffins, danish, Belgian waffles, and more! The juice was a little off in the ratio of water to concentrate, but I suppose I'll let that slide. Sunday morning, there was even a cheese omelet option. This may have been the best free Continental Breakfast I have had at a hotel, so that earns the Hampton Inn bonus points right there. The only downside I have is that the water tasted really off, but that was not the fault of the hotel, but that of the city. Also the elevators had a weird odor, but it was more like cleaning chemicals so I suppose that was alright as well. I would gladly rest my head again at the Hampton Inn in Peru, IL. read more

Couldn't sleep because the noise from I-80 is so loud. Since when is picking your own room on the honors app an extra fee? No digital key here so you're forced to go to the desk to check in. Shower drain was clogged, that's always fun. And breakfast was the worst. read more

This Hampton Inn just opened and we stayed during the first week of operation. Were looking for somewhere near Starved Rock and the Lodge, though IN the park, seemed a little on the rustic side. Love Hampton Inn and found this one and booked it. It is a 10 min drive to the parks (and a very scenic drive at times too!). Cozy cozy beds, all amenities (like free Wifi, mini fridge and microware in room), free hot breakfast (like waffles and eggs). It is tucked behind the mall area, but hey, that just meant Target was right across the way if you forgot anything. Totally recommend this place if you are staying in the area. read more

My family stayed in late September, 2013. The rooms were soooo comfy and very well decorated. We loved the large desk area that separated the beds from the sitting area. Nice new facility. Quiet comfortable rooms w/ microwaves, refrigerators and coffee makers. Pillow top mattresses are quite comfy. The free cookies always take me off my diet, but are oh so yummy. We had a great experience staying here over Labor Day weekend. Ira welcomed us at the front when we checked in, what a nice guy! He was very informative and even called our room after a bit to make sure we were all set and didn't need anything. The rooms were nice and clean and a good size. The bed was comfy, I didn't want to get up and check out in the morning. The only bad part is the pool, it's very small and very hot and humid. We could barely stand to be in there for 10 minutes and the pool was so warm it was not refreshing at all. Bath water much? I have no idea how people could handle being in the hot tub. read more

After a long days travel we had hoped to get in bed and finish the late night Nascar race on TV. Settled in room 311 I pulled back the duvet to see the sheets wrinkled and a used bandaid. I was still dressed so we requested another room. 327 was given to us. We like all the extras Hamptons offers and we are gold members. I want at minimum clean fresh bedding. If my hand towels are folded into clever shapes I could care less but do like the effort. With competition around please come up with some type of reward for housekeeping for bedding. Even in a rush to complete cleaning rooms the bedding show be the start. read more

The first night I arrived in Peru, IL my co-worker advised me the front desk staff had gone upstairs to work on a WiFi issue. The person was gone for over 20 minutes. When he returned he then proceeded to lecture us on the history of Hilton. All the while myself and my three co-workers were exhausted and just wanted to get out of our work clothes and go eat before getting some sleep. He took over 40 minutes to check in four of us; unacceptable. The next night I had a package waiting for me at the front desk. I went to pick it up on my way to dinner; nobody was at the desk. I rang the bell four times, waiting 2 minutes between each. Eventually I walked behind the desk into the staff area to pick up the packages as I could see them from the lobby. As I was leaving I saw the front desk person smoking on the bench beside the door, easily within distance of the bell tone. As I came back from dinner I notified her the water pressure to my shower was beyond minimal. She advised it would be handled in the morning by maintenance. The third night my co-worker went to the front desk to get change to do laundry, again, nobody was there. He ran the bell a couple of times, again realizing the employee was smoking on the bench outside. My co-worker then stepped outside and asked her if she was working and if she could come inside and assist; she did - after 15 minutes. My water pressure still wasn't fixed, I notified her again. The next day I called the hotel and left a voicemail with the GM for a call back to discuss the issues. To the GM's credit she did call me, but claimed my phone was breaking up; it wasn't, I checked by calling somebody else. I left the GM another voicemail requesting an additional callback, I never received one. Also, as I walked in I again noticed the front desk person walked out as I was walking in. So again, nobody at the front desk. I refuse to return to this hotel, very disappointed in the quality of the staff and the upkeep of the hotel. read more

I travel to this area often for work and always look forward to staying at this hotel. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I once returned back to check out later than the "checkout time" due to a work delay and they let me check out and not pay for the room despite the fact that the cleaners had already cleaned my room for the day. When I stay here I have to work odd hours (leave for work at 3am... Gross)! The ladies at the front desk always have a breakfast "to go" bag waiting for me and my colleagues since we will miss the normal breakfast hour. The hotel is either new or recently renovated. The bathrooms are clean, and bedding fresh. It has the typical "Hampton inn" feel. Finding this hotel from the road is confusing, you have to turn in past the target and work your way back. There is no sign where to turn right to go in- the entrance is kinda thru an office parking lot! You'll eventually get there, but you might make a few wrong turns first- don't say I didn't warn ya! read more

I would not recommend this hotel. We waited 10 min just for someone to come to the desk to check us in. The said they were unexpectedly busy, but all we noticed was a lot of people in the lobby boozing. Only one of the room keys worked. The room was nice, but the shower did not work well, there was very little hot water, the tub did not drain well. The coffee in the room was terrible and the coffee maker hardly worked. The breakfast was disappointing, the fruit looked old, the sausage and eggs were dry (it was only 7am). I would not go back. Hampton can do better than this. read more

Staff was friendly and they allowed us to do a late check out as we were there for a funeral. The sliding shower doors did not have a handle so they were hard to open and close. I've been here for 3 weeks. The potato side at breakfast has been raw 9 out of 10 times. I've had my towels/floor mats taken from bathroom 4 times without being replaced. Failed to remove my trash 4 days. Over a week without vacuuming my room. I did it myself once. I stay in Hotels most of the time for work and this is the first negative review I've written. We made our reservations online for the Hampton Inn in Peru. We wanted adjoining rooms so we called the hotel. No worries they accommodated us very nicely. We had to go with a handicapped room to get two rooms with queen beds but that was fine. We were extremely pleased with our entire stay at the Hampton Inn. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the pool was well maintained. Breakfast was tasty... but not as nice as the Hilton Garden Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The weather outside dropped to the low teens but the temperature of our room and the pool were very comfortable. Would recommend this hotel. read more

Had visited this hotel previously , but encountered so many problems; both with the hotel, hotel management and it's employees that I decided to vent my dissatisfaction through Yelp. Stayed at this hotel in June/2013 where I discovered that the hotel is not properly maintained. Discovered the washer, spa and exercise equipment were not working the three days while I stayed near the Peru area. The front desk personnel (Sascha and Samantha) are not customer service focused. I'm a Hilton Diamond VIP member and my profile mentions that I prefer a room on the ground level. I had argued on the phone with Sascha because they originally placed me on a different floor. I found it ironic that at 12:00 pm that all the rooms on the ground level had already been assigned. I also had a problem with Samantha the other front desk person. I was going to work out in their gym and had asked for a bottle of water, where Samantha replied that there would be a $1.50 charge. I've stayed at many hotels (Marriotts, La Quinta, Best Western, Holiday Inn) and I've never paid for a bottle of water. I had attempted to reach out to the general manager of this hotel, Carey, but she never responded to my email. I did manage to speak with her yesterday, and she replied that she was sorry, and did review my comments with her staff. The contemptuous tone I received from Carey was that she really didn't care if I stayed there again. Besides, I think that both Sascha and Samantha are family members or are really good friends because they still work there. Carey said that not all Hampton Inns have the same policy on free bottled water. I called the Hampton Inn in Ottawa and in Bedford Park where they mentioned that water is always complimentary for their guests. By the way, I called the other three hotels in Peru and they assured me that they don't charge for water bottles for their guest. Three of the four indicated that they have laundry facilities which are operable, and four out of the four hotels surveyed indicated that their exercise equipment and spa/pool are functioning. I've made my reservation and it looks like I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn next week! read more

We had to be back in the area to take care of some family stuff and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. We had a king suite for a week and it was huge! The whole week I was there felt like I was staying at a fabulous apartment in Peru. The hotel is clean, modern and updated, yet homey. The full breakfast is fantastic. But the best part about our stay was the friendly and courteous staff, especially Deanna. She was always there when we needed her and even when we didn't. In fact, I think she works all the time! She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as wonderful as could be, which was really awesome considering the family issues we were dealing with at the time. read more

My Daughter and I always stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites when we visit family. It is by far the best Hotel in the Illinois Valley. I appreciate the consistency of service, room cleanliness, friendliness and staff. Cary, the General Manager runs a tight ship. She is very thoughtful and accommodating to our needs. We enjoy the pool and the fitness center, both have a nice feel and updated equipment. We will be returning soon! read more

I stayed at the Peru location for the nights of Dec 24 & 25 while visiting with family in nearby Spring Valley. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and pretty well kept but the guest materials were very old and grubby. The TV channel index was so outdated that half of the listed channels were no longer available and the other half were completely rearranged. Christmas Eve was little sleep with slamming doors until about 3:00am but the second night was quiet. The only real disappointment was that they did not honor the reserved price of $98/night (plus tax) as I found when I read the bill as I stopped for lunch two hours down the road; I was actually charged $109/night plus tax. Yes, I know I should have checked it before I left but I had family waiting on me for breakfast. Next time I think I'll try the neighboring hotels. read more

We are originally from the area, but this is the first visit back since moving. We checked in around 6pm on Friday night. We were surprised that there was no full size dresser in the room. We asked the front desk for additional hangers to compensate, but she could not find any. We also discovered that our phone did not work (we tried to adjust the cords, etc. but it still didn't work), so we went to the front desk to tell them and ask about the dresser/hanger situation. I didn't want to live out of a suitcase for the 5 days we were here. The desk clerk, who admittedly was relatively new, couldn't tell me if all rooms had the same setup-the TV/refrigerator/microwave stand had two small drawers. She did call her GM and was told that we didn't get a room with a larger dresser because we were on a short term stay. Seriously?? She offered to move us to another room, but when I said I wanted to see the room before we moved (not worth moving to a similar situation), she couldn't let me go look at the room bc she couldn't leave the front desk. She figured out where the hangers were and gave us some extra but told us there was no one to fix the phone. She was going to tell housekeeping. Saturday and Sunday went by and still no working phone. I also noticed that one of the shelves on the shower was slimy and hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants. We also discovered Monday morning as I was getting ready to take a shower that they failed to replaced our bath towels. We just returned and the front desk clerk told us our phone had been fixed (my husband mentioned it again Monday morning before he left) and when we asked what was wrong, he claimed the cords were plugged in wrong(acted as if we were at fault)...but we tried all combinations. Overall the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good, too. The hotel isn't that old, but the floors are creaky, so we could hear the person in the room above. On Monday night, all we could hear was what sounded like someone exercising at 9:30 pm. Average experience, had hoped for better. read more
