This hotel was really nice. We loved the outdoor pool, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was good and breakfast was good too. It was a bit out of the way for us on our road trip so we probably won't stay there again, but it served us well the night we were there. Definitely recommend it. read more

Recently spent a week at this location. I want to start by stating that I am a Hilton fan and prefer to stay at their hotels over other brands. That said, I have a few comments regarding this location. First, there was no refrigerator in the room. Even low priced rooms have these built in these days. Why not you? Second, I had two different rooms and each was not clean to my liking. While the beds were clean, there was obvious hair and debris scattered throughout the bathrooms. This seems to be the case post-COVID at most locations, but I expect more. Why are we still not cleaning rooms each day? There are no more social distancing and hand sanitizer crazy establishments, so why can't these folks get back to what made them good in the first place??? One last comment, go back to your normal selection of bathroom soaps! Those little half-dollar sized bars are ridiculous! read more

My disabled husband (who is in a wheelchair) and I stayed at this Hampton Inn a few nights ago. I had made the reservation online. I am a Hilton Honors member, and have in my preferences that we need a handicapped accessible room. I booked such a room. Upon check in, I asked the young clerk if the room was indeed handicapped accessible, and she assured me it was. When we got to the room, we automatically saw that it was NOT a handicapped room. In fact, it was a studio with a king bed, but a long desk across the floor of the room. He could barely navigate the wheelchair by the bed. The toilet was in a separate "closet room" with tub that wheelchair would not fit through door. No bars on walls except 1 in tub. Clearly not a handicapped room. We immediately went back up to desk and told her it would not work for his needs. She insisted that was the type of room we booked. (Why on earth would I???). She said they were sold completely out and all other handicapped rooms were occupied by people "not handicapped" but they could not ask them to move. She went on to say she had not assigned the rooms that day. Also in the conversation she said I had not specified that my husband was in a wheelchair and that they had given us a hearing accessible room. He's not deaf!!! And even if he was, this room was NOT a hearing impaired room either!!!! We should have just cancelled and gone next door to another hotel, but I did say that there was a handicapped bathroom off the lobby.... That perhaps he could use it and skip a shower as we were only there for one night. I even said, "He could cut the charge of the room because we were not given what we booked". She replied that she would write him a note and tell him. My husband used that bathroom shortly thereafter and there were no paper towels in the dispenser. And nothing but toilet paper to use. He reported this to the front desk and she said she would tell maintenance who was still there. He used this bathroom at least 2 more times during the stay, and paper towels never filled. He reported it again following morning and the front end manager reached down and handed him napkins. Never an apology. Finally, the bill was run at FULL price. Not acceptable. The clerk said the manager was on the phone. I waited over 15 min to speak with him and he never came out. They said I would be given Points not money off room. I had already told them I did not want points. I left my name and phone number and asked them to have him call me. He did not. I just think this is very poor customer service. I have read other reviews and see similar complaints, so it's not the first time people have been disappointed in the service. Don't stay here. They obviously don't care. From manager down to clerk at front desk clerk, they never tried to give the customer what they paid for. And did not care. read more

Rooms seem very small, not sure why they are so tiny as I've never been in one this small. It is clean but I can hear the proe next door.

My daughter was a student at Gardner-Webb and I had the opportunity to stay at Hampton Inn in Shelby on 3 occasions. Each time the facility and the property was always clean and well-kept. Social distancing was professionally practiced and the staff was always very nice. I would like to give an extra special shoutout to Maria, your evening front desk employee. Maria was very courteous and professional toward my daughter and myself. I felt that she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Good evening Fellow Yelpers! It's one of your favorite critics here again, with another place of interest you should visit. I am currently working in the Mountain region of NC and Selby, NC was the cebtral location. I booked my room on priceline and check-in was peaceful to say the least. The receptionist that performed the check-in was friendly, yet clearly nervous. I assured her everything was fine and I appreciated how she explained everything she was doing to me. I was placed on the 2nd floor (ONLY 2 Floors), upon exiting the elevator, and navigating to my room, a variety of smells (not all pleasant) tainted my nasal cavity, but I pressed on. Once I got to my room, I was pleased at the set-up, (I was charged for a King bed with sofabed, but recieved Queen bed with a chair). I'm here traveling for work, so my company actually got jipped, hopefully someone from management will read this and take action to correct this mishap. Anyway, bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent! They have coffee available 24/7 & Fresh Baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies! So, if you're ever on this end of North Carolina & you find yourself in Shelby, this is a great place to lay your head. Located right beside Clevland Mall the spot couldn't be better for leisure travelor business! Wuld definitely stay here again. read more

Definitely a newer Hampton Inn. People were super friendly at checkin. Decent size gym, nice dining area. Rooms were clean and modern. Not sure if they always have it, but they had a reception going Mon thru Wed with chow and free beer. Don't see that very often at a Hampton Inn. I would come back. read more

We stayed 3 weeks in this hotel and all people working in the reception are very rude!!! To clean your room, you had to request it the day before. Lack of attention to customer was the standard at this HILTON FACILITY. I am hilton Gold member, and every day I had to beg for a bottle of water!!! Ah, I forgot make sure you go to breakfast early because at 9:30 the waffle toaster are off!!! And you only option is whatever they have left!!! Finally, bring your own chopsticks because they never have forks!!! This is a hotel ran by a bunch of rude people!!! Be advised!!! read more

The hotel is updated, modern and spacious. The staff I dealt with Nathan mainly, was a super polite and light hearted professional. I enjoyed his demeanor! Room was clean and comfortable. Had breakfast each morning that was hot & tasted well. There is a reception or "happy hour" from 5-7. I participated on taco Tuesday. I was tired from the day so it was nice not to have to leave from the facility. If in the area again, I'll certainly return. read more

Clean updated hotel but I took A star off because there is no on-site laundry. I didn't eat the breakfast but I did take a breakfast bag to go and it was nice. It had a bottled water, crystal light pack, nutri grain bar, mini muffin and an apple. I liked having an outdoor pool. My room also came with a refrigerator and microwave. Overall great stay, just need to get a laundry room!! I'm gone for work weeks at a time and this is very important to me. read more

My room was small...very small, but clean. The thing is...it was on the first floor with a big window facing the parking lot and the curtains are hung so that they cannot be closed (a gap of a couple of feet). I overcame that a bit with the help of a large safety pin, but through the big gap at the top a very bright light was streaming in. I finally got out of bed to see what it was. They have a huge spotlight aimed right at the hotel windows . This is not one of those little spotlights like folks use around their homes, this was an industrial-strength monstrosity, much like the lights at a stadium, only aimed at my bedroom window.....who on earth thought that would be a good idea? Not someone trying to sleep on this side of the hotel. If you stay here, be sure to ask for a room above the first floor and somewhere away from the ridiculous spotlights. read more

Today I'm a little disappointed tonight with this hotel. When I checked in i was given a handicap suite on the 4th floor near the elevator. When I realized it was not a room I wanted. I came back to the front desk to ask can I get a different room and not a handicap suite. I was told that the rooms were sold out and the last room was taken from off line. I was then told sorry I can change the room tomorrow morning instead. So I felt I had to deal with it. So then two hours later I had my cousin call the hotel just to inquire for a room for tonight. She was told on the phone from this same front desk employee that they had available rooms regular king rooms and suites with the pullout soda that was available. I choose not to go back downstairs and call her on out on this discovery with the hotel. Now mind you I'm a Hilton honors member and when I come to Shelby I love staying here. But my question is this how you treat your honor members with lies about being sold out and then two hours later you have open rooms. So I'm guess those reservations were cancelled at the last minute. I would love to know? My next question is why not tell the impending guest that the room is a handicap suite and would they ok with that. I have a issue with the showers in these type of rooms. Was I given a handicap room cause I'm black and a fat man? I would love to know the truth of what happen. read more

I come to Shelby North Carolina a few times a year for business and I couldn't wait for this hotel to open. Since I'm a Hilton member too. You will not be disappointed at all. I had the best sleep there. The rooms were beautiful. Also the lobby and over all look of this hotel is amazing. The bright colors. It makes you thing you are away at an island oasis. It's a hidden gem here in Shelby. The staff is very professional and friendly. So make sure you book here when in Shelby. read more

I checked into this hotel and was greeted with a smile and thank you for being a Diamond member with our Hilton Honors. However when I got to my room I quickly realized this was not the room I booked. I booked a room that was supposed to have a refrigerator and microwave. Instead I was in a room that was so small It could have been used as storage room. I called downstairs and they told me they were sold out and couldn't change my room but that I could pay 218 dollars to be upgraded on Wednesday which was 2 days away. There policy of making It right is not supported by this hotel. I called the Hilton Honors guest line and they called the hotel in my behalf. I had to stay in the tiny room but was changed on Wednesday at no additional charge thanks to the Hilton Honors call. I got a very unapologetic email from their manager. I stay at Hilton's every week but this one is not up to their standards. My advice is book a different hotel! This one is not a honest hotel. read more
