First the elevators have been down for a month, the front desk had no top to it, the place was warm and felt damp and we were greeted with bed bugs. Absolute disaster. We left the place immediately . I stayed here years ago and I don't recall having any complaints, but on this stay I was royally underwhelmed. Enough little aggravations to keep it from being 4-star and one glaring issue that knocks it down to two. All the pieces for a good experience are there. The staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The hotel was clean. The hallways were brightly lit and didn't smell. My room was clean and fresh with a good supply of towels. The exercise room was clean with nice new equipment. The parking lot was well lit and felt safe. The breakfast was only OK - better than most hotel breakfasts really - but hotel breakfasts are never great so no disappointment there. I got texts periodically from a lady named Megan, checking up on me to make sure everything was OK. Then the little aggravations began. There were no hangers in my room. Quick text to Megan got that resolved successfully. The heater in the room was Off and I didn't realize until later when I woke up freezing. Got it going but it never was able to get the room warm (temps in the 30s outside). Housekeeping did not make up my room after the first day. Texted Megan and was told that housekeeping only visits the rooms every other day. Not a huge deal, but I ran out of the little coffee pods in the room. Other hotels I stay at don't change the sheets and towels every day, but at least the housekeepers come in and make the bed and empty the trash. I get it, but it was unexpected and inconvenient. The batteries in the TV remote were dying. Probably should have asked Megan for some more but I didn't bother. The toilet would misfire more often than not and I would have to flush twice. The one glaring problem that I can't get over was the shower. ZERO water pressure. Maybe it's because I was on the second floor, but the water would barely dribble out of the shower head with no real force or flow. Temp was good - the water was hot enough - but no spray whatsoever. If there had been a tub I could have just drawn a bath, but it was a shower stall only. I -almost- asked to switch to another room but I was already unpacked and decided that switching would be a greater inconvenience. I managed to get little trickle showers throughout my stay, but I am so disappointed by this that I likely will not stay here again. But all the pieces are there. This hotel is really a solid 3-stars and could be four with some care and attention to the details. Get a room on the first floor and you might have a fantastic experience. My experience was poor enough to warrant only two. read more

I booked our room online and was encouraged to get the Hilton app so I could choose a room, have contactless check-in, and use my phone to open the door. I got the app, chose a room, and that's where it ended. I still had to check in and get key cards. I was unimpressed with this hotel. Our 3rd floor king room, while large, was awkwardly arranged. In addition to the bed and 2 nightstands, there was a sofa, ottoman, and easy chair... plus desk and chair. I suppose the intent was to have the TV visible from all seating areas other than the desk, but the TV was far from the bed... different from most places. Under the TV were the microwave and fridge (no freezer). The room was poorly maintained: one bulb was hanging by its wire, a drawer was missing a pull, and there was dark mold growing on the bathtub caulk. The room was quiet. There was minimal hot water, and water pressure was poor in the shower. Breakfast was among the worst we've had on this 18-night road trip and was only served 6-9 am. This suggests that the motel doesn't cater to families. The potatoes tasted moldy, and the coffee was no doubt left over from the previous day, as it was lukewarm and awful-tasting. The juice was good, and there's a waffle machine that makes 4 minis. We noticed that the trash can in the breakfast area had lots of food on plates, which was no surprise. There was no refrigerater, so boiled eggs sat out. I wonder how old some of the food was. A big positive of this place includes nearby restaurants and proximity to places like Anahuac and High Island... if you're into wildlife and birding. We really enjoyed the restaurant next door, and it would have been nice to have a walkway over there. The ditch between the motel and Tia Juanita forced us to either drive or walk on the roadside. There's a Waffle House not far away if you can't stomach the motel's breakfast. This is not a place we'd consider staying again. read more

Looks nice, but bathroom & shower were not very clean. Low shower water pressure. Billing issues

Pool room had a missing window, broken hot tub, freezing pool. Bathroom was out of order and had no towels. Breakfast was freezing cold eggs and sausage with warm milk. Room was supposed to be handicap accessible it was difficult for my dad to get in and out of the bathroom in his wheelchair I had to open and close the door. Staff was not very helpful and management couldn't be bothered. Will never stay at this hotel again. read more

Perfect place to rest after driving all day on I-10. Close to Galveston if you're planning a beach trip. By far the nicest Hampton inn I've been to in the south, and friendliest. Dip, the guy at the front desk, let me check in 3 hours early, helped me with my luggage, and even put on the SAINTS FOOTBALL GAME on the lobby TV when I came back downstairs to wait for my friends. The outside of the building needs to have the landscaping redone. It looks bad. The room was a typical 2 queen beds. Room was clean. I did call the front desk to ask for a new remote for the tv.I couldn't change channels probably low battery. The lady that answered said she would bring it up to the room. She never did. Upon check they asked how I liked the stay when I told her I was still waiting for the remote they said they were bringing up. The very young girl behind the desk gave a smirk and kept nodded yes. Backup generators! Power outage. No A/C, at 7 am none of the emergency lights or exit signs were operational. Elevator doesn't work. The customer service was ok but a hotel should have backup generators and working emergency lighting! read more

First stay here was very nice. Nice front desk folks. Decent breakfast selection. No room complaints. Clean. Second time was mostly the same, except my hot water was non-existent so my shower was luke warm. Not the best. But my travel companions said this is def the best place to stay in town, soooo there ya go! Brief luke warm shower aside, no other complaints. :) read more

We rented a room Wednesday March 13th for the girls to swim because the hotel had an indoor swimming pool. The girls came out of the pool after about an hour screaming and crying that their bodies were burning. I brought them directly upstairs to the shower to wash them off. I then called the front desk to have them come look at the damage their pool did. I directly checked out and had my husband collect water samples from the pool. My daughter had to go to the emergency room 2 days straight. When I followed up with the owner of the hotel the next day he acted like it was nothing and brushed me off with I will comp your room!!! Not any concern of the danger his pool had caused!! Completely outraged how he could treat something so serious so mildly. The pool water was tested at levels that were off the charts and I have the report available. My daughter a week later still has burns that are being treated and cause her pain. She also had chemical inhalation burns in her throat. read more

Below standard of Hampton hotels. Check in: young clerk had to remove herself from her phone to help me. King bed in ad was NOT a King. Closet: very small, no room to hang clothes. Luggage cart had broken castor's an was very hard to push. No desk lamp. Cold coffee in the Lobby. Internet was useless, unless you bought an upgrade for $4.95 per night. Breakfast: good taco bar...food not hot. Tortillas gummy...needed to be heated. Bed was comfortable, or would be zero stars. Hilton needs to make a surprise visit. read more

This is a brand new property. As one would expect, the facility was clean and all of the furnishings were in excellent condition. The staff was well trained and we had no problems with either check-in or check-out. The rooms were well appointed and had all of the necessary amenities. The coffee was was always available in the lobby and the quality was very good. The breakfast buffet was better than most and the area was clean and well maintained. Since we travel this road several times during the year it will be interesting to see if this level of quality is maintained over the years. But for now, this is a good stop in the road when trying to get across the vast domain called Texas. read more

I stayed at this place on June 2nd 2022. I had a guest with me and we went to the pool. The smell of chlorine was overwhelming. We went to the 5ft end of the pool.we sat down and we were immediately being bit by bugs. We showed the night clerk the bugs on the towel. There was also throw up in the 3ft area. We decided to go to the room. Neither my guest or I got any sleep. We was still being bitten by little black bugs. They were not bedbugs. But they still hurt when they bit you. I told the manager about what we experienced and got only a "I'm sorry ". I asked for a refund and they all but called me a liar. My guest showed her the bugs that bit her legs. All they said no bugs no refund. So I don't recommend that hotel. I also recommend that you don't stay at any of the Hilton based hotels. They do not care for their customers. They just want your money. read more

A very disappointing stay at this Hampton Inn by Hilton in Winnie Texas. I woke up at 2:00 am full of ant bites. The ants were all over the bed!!! They gave me another room and promised that the manager would call me that day but she never did. Incredible to experience something like this at a Hilton brand hotel. If I could put negative stars, I would... Truly unbelievable.... My son, who is in the Navy, is headed to his first duty station in Texas. He made a reservation at the Hampton Inn & Suites Winnie, 318 Spur 5, Winnie, Texas, 77665. Short of his destination, his car broke down, just after 6 PM local. He called the property at 6:20 PM and asked them to cancel his reservation. The desk clerk conferred with the Manager, Ms. Hetal Patel, and was told that the reservation could not be cancelled. To do so would incur a penalty of one night's lodging. On my son's behalf, I called the Hampton reservation line, who in turn called the property. Apparently the decision is made at the local level. They were unwilling to cancel the reservation as well. As an active duty military member myself, I've never been treated so inconsiderately by a hotel property when my schedule changed unexpectedly. This is completely unacceptable, regardless of the published cancellation policy. My son is now either going to have to take drastic measures to get that property, or pay out of pocket for lodging. I have stayed here several times in the past few months on business. Needed repairs are not responded to for weeks and staff remain in the dark regarding status of repairs. Additionally, customer service takes a very defensive stance with regards to the condition of property. This all from a Hilton Diamond Member. I stayed here 2 nights (4 days apart) recently. The hotel is decent. It's the nicest hotel in Winnie Texas if that's got much to say about it. I travel all the time and Hampton is my hotel of choice. This hotel is fairly clean. It wasn't spotless clean, but it didn't feel like a dirty roach motel. The beds were some of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in. I stayed in a 2 double bed room both nights. One night, my wife got in the shower only to realize we had no shower curtain! I called downstairs and they promptly brought one up. The breakfast here is no where near what you'd expect at a Hampton Inn. They don't have as many options as other Hampton's and the quality is terrible. Both days I was there, the lobby was uncomfortably warm. The staff was friendly and helpful. It looks like it was recently renovated (3-4 years ago) but you can tell the hotel is older once you get in the room. All in all, I'd stay here again, but only if it were the cheapest within an hour drive. read more
