Of all our Hilton stays, this felt the most not-up-to-standards. The staff are really nice though, especially the young lady that worked the 3-11pm shift while we stayed there. There were issues with room cleanliness, quality of the supplies (bedding and towels), and noise.
When we got into our room, we realized it was incredibly dusty. The TV, the counter, the beside tables, lamps... all coated in dust. The drawers hadn't been cleaned and there was still dirt from the last guests. The fridge still had a bottle of half drunk juice from the last stay and the shelves were sticky and had some food residue. The floor also had some dirt, small rocks from someone's shoes, and a dead bug we had to clean up.
We were told theres been some complaints about the housekeeping standards and ....well... I can see why unfortunately. It also seems this hotel hasn't received updated bedding and towels for some time.
The bed seemed somewhat clean, but the pillows seams were open so the feathers were just puffing out every time we lay down. I flipped it in the case so I wouldn't need to deal with it. Hilton pillows are usually the BEST but these were so flat and dull. I was really sad cause that's usually a highlight of a Hilton stay. I wish the corporate team would send this location some better, new pillows.
The bathroom was clean, thank goodness, but the towels were super rough. They kindly gave us additional ones since we weren't given a floor towel and need an extra body one, but they were also really rough. Again, they sorely need new towels supplied.
We were offered to switch into another room, but given that this was not a surprise to the front desk staff, we felt another room won't be much better and opted not to trouble her further for the night. She had no other staff with her so she was offering to clean the room herself. She was so sweet!
Another thing is, we were woken up around 8am with kids running up and down the hall talking. We thought it was a neighbouring room and weren't sure why they were just hanging out in the hall. It was so noisy we couldn't sleep in, despite having planned for a relaxing morning. We realized that they were children of the staff. I really love that this hotel is providing employment for local parents, and ok with letting them bring kids along instead of having to find babysitters. But I don't think it's ok to let the kids wander all over the hotel. They were running around the breakfast area, going into the pantry space (which is where they prepare food), walking around the front desk looking at rooming information, and in and out of the rooms while staff were cleaning. That's not alright. There are guests trying to get some much needed rest. Again, I know for a small town, it's more relaxed sort of rules, and I really do love that they let staff bring kids to their shifts to help avoid needing babysitters. They should just provide the kids with a quiet space to play or watch tv without disturbing the guests.
They had a nice pool to swim in. The whirlpool was not working, but I've read a few reviews that it hasn't worked in the past.
Breakfast was great to have available. Loved being able to make our own mini waffles, and they always had cereal, oatmeal, egg, and sausage options. There's juice and coffee/ tea too. They tend to leave the coffee and tea available all day too so that's a nice touch.
Staff are really friendly here. There's not really any other hotels in the area so this is probably your best bet for a decent stay with breakfast included. Wifi was also great. We were in the middle area so not near any corners. Signal was nice and strong enough to even stream movies. read more
