I booked this hotel through Booking.com. I got a great mobile price but using them does not carry my Gold Elite status through the reservation, so I did not get my points....The lady at the desk was nice enough to validate my Gold status and gave me the "benefits" that come with it. She was very nice. She gave us room 400. When we walked in, we noticed that the rug was smelly and also that the AC compressor was LOUD !!!!!!!! We tried to rest and sleep, but we couldn't....so within 30 mins...I went downstairs and explained the situation....she gave us another room.....That one was very nice, clean and working properly. It was odd that this hotel does not give you 2 soap bars (usually one for face and one for bath)...so you have to use one for both... Also the elevator is super slow...she mentioned that and it was....LOL.... The breakfast was nice (served from 6a-10a). Coffee was terrible, but the juice and hot food was nice. Free parking. Easy on/off from the highway.

indian lady at the front desk really bad really rude. i cant speak english and i am iliterit and she was screaming at me i tried to buy chocolate bar and she told me to read price is right there. after buying she told me to go back to my room in bad voice. and then i came down later to buy more and she said "you guys trikle to much" she is very mean staff.

This was the first time staying at this Hampton Inn. Whenever we are visiting my parents, I try to stay as close as possible and also not spend a lot on lodging since will only use it to take showers and sleep. The hotel place closest to their house had renovations a few years ago and their price keeps rising. Imagine my surprise when this Hampton popped up in my search for a really good deal. I went to UMCP and couldn't recall a Hampton Inn on this road near that intersection. Due to Covid pandemic, face masks required inside, and there's the plexiglass for front desk. Check-in was easy. We were given bottled water. The hot meal breakfasts during weekdays and breakfast on weekends were now to-go bags due to it. There were signs everywhere about 6' distancing and on floor but trust me, those elevators dimension for 6' are off but with masks on, fine. I DID see during the four nights there, a few people forgetting about their masks in hallway or running down to front desk so makeshift coverings were unique. Fri breakfast had a hot sausage biscuit sandwich, individually wrapped mini cake, fruit bar, fresh orange and water. Sat was individually wrapped mini cake and water (maybe more if got there earlier?). Sun, got there late. I returned the night before after midnight taking care of parents and left my key in our room. Front desk was nice and got me another key after confirming who I was. But later on, I was awaken around 3 am - someone talking on cellphone in hallway by the elevators and it must echo to our room. It went on for quite some time, waking both of us, and enough for me to open the door to let him know he's way too loud. And then a group returned back from who knows where. The front desk again was real nice when she said breakfast was just over (Hubby had been picking up the last two days) but said I could have cereal or oatmeal which I took two of their packaging and water which was what we really wanted. I apologized for missing the time since I was out of it due to the noise, and she remarked she heard lots of complaints. One guest was supposed to stay two nights and checked out early since he was there on business. She said she would leave a note to ask the night shift to make rounds. I've stayed at very fancy hotels and unfortunately you never know who the other guests are and what they may be celebrating, sometimes weddings and such, so I get that. Fortunately I had no presentations the next day, only more home repairs so appreciated the front desk response. My husband on Sunday had ridden his bike back at night and wanted to get some water but the desk attendant was in the lobby by tv instead of behind the desk. He did ask Honey ",What do you want" and was helpful and gave him water but Honey noted, what a difference if he said, "Can I help you?" Or ",What can I help you with?" makes a huge difference in customer service. There are notes in the room that housekeeping won't come into the room and will assume no service unless it's requested. That was fine with us though our trash cans were full. I wish they recycled due to the plastic bottles but fortunately from our room view, the building next door had a recycling trash bin that we ended up collecting all of the plastic bottles to recycle. As noted in the photos, there is a small fitness room, the indoor pool renovation underway (unsure if that means it will remain or not), there's a business center to print out, etc. During nonCovid times, large breakfast area for hot meals and seatings nice interior. We had standard room with Queen bed, desk, chair, couch chair, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, tv, etc. Bathroom is spacious enough, tiles are cold to walk on, and thank you for the sliding doors with towel rack, a pet peeve of mine where many hotels have no place to hang your towel to air dry. Room was fully sanitizer per the seal and other notes. The first night, I don't know whether it's the sanitizer, there was a slightly odd subtle smell especially when AC unit kicked on. The AC is from the room unit system that typically are used in more motels vs full internal A/C unit. It's a blessing in disguise since if it was a system with wall vent duct, desanitizing would be a bigger challenge. The units used here tend to be noisier and kicks on periodically so between that and noisy floor neighbors, I'm not as well rested. Check out is easy, just drop your keys in the drop box. For ALL that's included even despite noisy AC and neighbors (oh yeah, this place is right off Route 1/ Baltimore Ave so watch leaving the parking lot, and possibly needing to do a U-turn, and cars or their drivers thinking they can drag race late at night, I would totally return.

I've stayed at this property on several trips due to its great location from the highway, proximity to the University of Maryland and great room pricing. Overall above average stays. Parking for Diamond is in front of the hotel by the road. It's a great location, however all of the 8 spaces or so are compact. Every time I needed to pull in it was a squeeze and necessary to pry myself out of the car. The parking lot was tidy and front can was within its boundaries. My most recent had a good check-in and I was recognized for being Diamond and handed a few waters. The clerk was efficient, but I would not say friendly. The lobby was clean on my late weekday arrival. The luggage cart was utilized and would leave guest a poor first impression of the property. To say it was rough is an understatement. It was nasty. The key worked and my second floor double. The room was in perfect order. Everything worked properly including refrigerator, microwave and most importantly climate control. The room was clean with fresh linen. The bathroom although clean with proper supplies had yucky peeling paint on the ceiling. The hotel needs updates, but I have found it well maintained. This is a easy fix and should be embarrassing for Hilton to not fix something so easy to repair. More outlets would be nice to have. House keeping was good one day and the next a no show until after 2 PM. When discussing with front desk they said staff did not arrive until after 10 AM. Since my son needed to rest I told them to cancel the cleaning. The beds were comfortable and I slept well. I did not utilize the FREE breakfast on my three day stay. In the past I have found it less than adequate and way too chaotic at peak times. So as I have done in the past I headed to the College Diner a few blocks away. The staff was kind enough to extend a late checkout which was very much appreciated. The bill that is customarily put under the door never arrived. I took care of getting a receipt on departure and the staff was friendly and efficient cranking out my folio. I would recommend, but there due to the reasons outlined. It would be nice to see some sweeping updates to the rooms.

There was a little market right next to the check in area but it seemed a little neglected. There were things listed on the menu that weren't actually stocked. Check in was super easy. I was at the desk a total of 5 minutes before I was up in my room. The only downside of the check in was that the receptionist said my room floor out loud. I understand his reasoning (I was put on the 4th floor because I had a spa treatment to check into right after checking in, and it's on the 4th floor), but it feels like a privacy concern. Especially since I was a woman staying here by myself. I just prefer if I'm given the room key with the key sleeve, as the room number is usually written on it. The spa was incredible. It was clean and luxurious! I had a body scrub service with Gabby who was phenomenal, so nice and really made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The room itself has very fancy amenities (dimming capabilities of 99% of the lights, automated shades). But there were some things that I thought could've been much better. There's no privacy cap on the peep hole. The chair at my desk was so squeaky. The bathroom vents were very dusty. The toilet paper was so thin and harsh. The shower head angle couldn't be adjusted. It seemed like the ceiling has had some issues and the patching seemed like a landlord's special. There was some earwax on the phone receiver. The WiFi was TERRIBLE. If you plan to use your laptop for an extended amount of time, plan to bring a hot spot. They say they have complimentary premium WiFi. I did a speed test: it said very slow. But the bed was nice and big, the shower was nice despite the shower head issue. A robe was provided in the closet. I had two complimentary bottles of water which I appreciated. All in all, I would return because I do feel the pros outweighed the cons. I'd just be sure to bring my own internet.

We were able to close them at night and then we never got them open again. The room's closet was also small, but since this was a short trip it was okay. If you're here for longer or have more clothes you want to hang up, you'll have limited space and hangers and will have to use the dresser. The main complaint with the hotel is the walls are paper thin and guests seem to be up at all hours constantly. Our flight got in at midnight and I thought most people would be asleep. Nope! Going down the hallway to our room there were plenty of guests talking loudly. Our neighbors would have the TV on or playing music. Sometimes the volume was low, but could still be heard through the shared door between units. When our neighbors were feeling really courteous, they had loud music playing at 4am! Another room had tons of kids staying in it and I couldn't imagine how rowdy that experience must have been staying next door to them. Nothing wrong with kids, but these walls were not built to insulate sound at ANY capacity. Would not recommend staying here if you need a proper place to sleep since every guest seems to be up all at hours and noise carries everywhere.

The beds are uncomfortable, and there is no top sheet available on the bed or in the room. You have to disassemble the duvet if you want that. No free bottled water in the room.

However, the policies are incredibly frustrating, especially during a tournament like the Big Ten where it's single elimination--lose and you're out. We lost our first game and still weren't allowed to check out. I understand policies are in place, but in a situation like this--especially as a Gold member--you'd expect a little flexibility or consideration. Instead, we're stuck paying for two additional nights because of a rigid policy. If you're in town for a tournament, I'd strongly recommend avoiding this location. If you're staying for a fixed period, it might work fine--but based on this experience, I won't be staying here again.

And we never really heard other guests (although, I suppose it's possible the rooms on either side of us were not in use). We both slept well (as well as we could given the time difference) and I was happy to note that the window shade did a decent job of blocking out the light. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Having the kitchenette was a nice feature to have. My main points for not giving a full 5 stars are: the bathroom door was hard to close and open fully; and the breakfast felt a little lack luster to me, but at least it meant I didn't have to go far to get a bagel.

Breakfast had some nice options for build it yourself waffles or breakfast sandwiches with sausages and egg patties, plus hard boiled eggs. Pool, gym, laundry and conference room are available. Rooms have a nice kitchenette with microwave, full sink, dishwasher, plates, cups, bowls, and utensils, plus a sponge and dishwashing liquid. Plenty of room to spread out. There's a nearby Safeway if you need groceries. Parking was easy. The cons: The bed was uncomfortable for my wife, she kept tossing and turning. The flat sheet was a weird sheet/thin comforter combo which wasn't tucked in properly and was uncomfortable after a few hours. The room thermostat did not work as programmed. We set it for 66 to sleep but when we woke up groggy at 3, it had only gone down to 71. We turned it off and on, plus used the fan feature, no difference. The room vent is located by the kitchen, not the bed, so keep that in mind. The bathroom door slides, is heavy and does not have a true handle as it can retract fully in the wall. Based on that lack of handle, it was occasionally difficult to close and open. Due to the time, we did not want to try to switch rooms as we had to leave for a family obligation in a few hours in the morning. To the hotel's credit, they reached out immediately after I did an internal survey. They said to not hesitate to contact the front desk as it's staffed 24 hours. I appreciate them hearing my concerns.
