Why does this look like this?

This has got to cease with ALL HOTELS. Why on earth would you put the bus driver on the same floor as their kid passengers, same floor as the festivities, 1st floor where there's heavy traffic, by the elevators where you hear ping ping, chatter chatter, or the ice vending machines where gushing and clumping of ice comes out and fills ice buckets or thump from the soda machines, plap from chips or candy bars dispensed from the bottom of the vending machines, the flap flap from the vending machine doors. 100% of the time when I request another room it's ALWAYS "We're booked" or I'm offered an ADA room. I have SEVERAL herniated discs and 6 ft tall, everything in an ADA room is designed low which is beneficial to persons with disabilities. While EVERYONE on the bus is sleeping, passing gas, drooling at the mouth, snacking, laughing with their neighbors, relaxing, the driver is up front DRIVING making sure EVERYONE arrives to the destinations on time safely and without incident. Why wouldn't hotel personnel be mindful of the drivers room location? We are responsible for LIVES. We drive up to 10 hours a day NOT to include the time spent with the group the entire day. The hotel is responsible for assigning and labeling each room key AND specifically a key will be labeled DRIVERS KEY. So yes the hotel knew exactly what they were doing when they assigned my key. I was given the room that was 3 doors down from the entertainment, offered an ADA room and dismissed by saying nothing else was available. I know for a FACT we was NOT the last bus to arrive so if with an effort my situation could have been fixed. At breakfast the next morning we discussed things, my bus coordinator stated she would have switched rooms with me AND their was passengers that really required and ADA room. Furthermore we had 3 extra room keys that was given back because of No Shows. Please review my videos and see I DONT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!! Around 10 pm, I called the desk to find out what time the entertainment would be over because I truly needed some sleep. The person at the desk said she would close the hall doors, 20 minutes later nothing. I called again and asked the young gentleman from earlier if he could come hear my pain and two know how cruel and agonizing this room location was for me. The guy came in, I shut the door, stood at the furthest corner on the room, we lowered the volume of my tv and noticed the volume at which I would have to turn it up just to hear the tv. I took him back outside my door just to make my point. He was soooo apologetic and stated I was absolutely valid with my complaint. He offered me a bag of snacks which I inquired about at the desk upon arrival since I'm an IHG rewards member and was told by Mechelle that they don't offer appreciation bags. Also while at the desk, a young lady with 2 puff balls or pony tails as a hair style stated in my presence that she was going on break because the checking in group was getting on her nerves. She stated this twice because she wanted to make sure Mechelle and apparently myself heard her because she would be missing from her post. That could not have been the most unprofessional thing she could have said within ear shot of one of those checking in guests...ME. Mechelle did NOT correct her but instead letting me know the bags she was handing out and leaving in rooms was only for Group Sales guests. That little girl failed to understand that the reasons for her disapproval of us steamed from, hotel personnel assigned double room keys, keys not activated, issues with room accommodations, wrong assigned rooms and other mistakes made by the hotel staff. That attitude is what makes me believe is the attitude of front desk staff when I request a room change or when accommodating the bus driver that brought in "Group Sales Guests". I find it hard to believe that professionals in HOSPITALITY don't THINK when it comes to assigning rooms that the driver should be put on a different floor/location from their group. I refuse to believe that when my room was assigned that the HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONAL didn't THINK that my assigned room would be a good idea, it's their profession to know these things. Anyway, the guy offers me a gift bag and kindly puts in additional items. He's a liar too, he was the one that offered me the ADA room and stated there was no other rooms to accommodate me. Mechelle co-signed that lie as well. It's 1:30 now, the music and party traffic on this first floor has ceased, good night.

There was a little market right next to the check in area but it seemed a little neglected. There were things listed on the menu that weren't actually stocked. Check in was super easy. I was at the desk a total of 5 minutes before I was up in my room. The only downside of the check in was that the receptionist said my room floor out loud. I understand his reasoning (I was put on the 4th floor because I had a spa treatment to check into right after checking in, and it's on the 4th floor), but it feels like a privacy concern. Especially since I was a woman staying here by myself. I just prefer if I'm given the room key with the key sleeve, as the room number is usually written on it. The spa was incredible. It was clean and luxurious! I had a body scrub service with Gabby who was phenomenal, so nice and really made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The room itself has very fancy amenities (dimming capabilities of 99% of the lights, automated shades). But there were some things that I thought could've been much better. There's no privacy cap on the peep hole. The chair at my desk was so squeaky. The bathroom vents were very dusty. The toilet paper was so thin and harsh. The shower head angle couldn't be adjusted. It seemed like the ceiling has had some issues and the patching seemed like a landlord's special. There was some earwax on the phone receiver. The WiFi was TERRIBLE. If you plan to use your laptop for an extended amount of time, plan to bring a hot spot. They say they have complimentary premium WiFi. I did a speed test: it said very slow. But the bed was nice and big, the shower was nice despite the shower head issue. A robe was provided in the closet. I had two complimentary bottles of water which I appreciated. All in all, I would return because I do feel the pros outweighed the cons. I'd just be sure to bring my own internet.

We needed a Hilton property close to UMD, free breakfast, free parking, and some semblance of consistency. This Hampton checked all the boxes. For extra bonus it's possible to ride the Metro to College Park station and take the bus north to a nearby stop. The staff seem friendly and professional. We booked early for a decent price but then the rack rate dropped a few days prior to our arrival. Thems the breaks. We are Diamond Club members so got top floor regular rooms. Anyway stay here with confidence but know it's 3.0 stars tops. The elevators are annoyingly slow.

We could pick toast, bagels, muffins or poppiseed bread (which was my fav). The fruit choices included average oranges & apples. There were three cereals, as well as oatmeal. There were two types of raisins. The roasted potatoes were the best item available. There were three juices. The hotel lobby has coffee and tea. The make it yourself waffles were good. There were cute valentines sprinkles. An employee did a great job of monitoring the food items and replenishing when needed. A tiny store has essentials if you forget something but there is a CVS nearby. The gym was closed but we probably wouldn't have used it. This place is safe and okay without being spectacular.

The staff is fantastic and friendly. The restaurant/bar is in building #2. No room service is mentioned. Mine was a tiny room with a tiny bathroom and a tiny wardrobe-like closet. The beds are uncomfortable, and there is no top sheet available on the bed or in the room. You have to disassemble the duvet if you want that. No free bottled water in the room.

However, the policies are incredibly frustrating, especially during a tournament like the Big Ten where it's single elimination--lose and you're out. We lost our first game and still weren't allowed to check out. I understand policies are in place, but in a situation like this--especially as a Gold member--you'd expect a little flexibility or consideration. Instead, we're stuck paying for two additional nights because of a rigid policy. If you're in town for a tournament, I'd strongly recommend avoiding this location. If you're staying for a fixed period, it might work fine--but based on this experience, I won't be staying here again.

And we never really heard other guests (although, I suppose it's possible the rooms on either side of us were not in use). We both slept well (as well as we could given the time difference) and I was happy to note that the window shade did a decent job of blocking out the light. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Having the kitchenette was a nice feature to have. My main points for not giving a full 5 stars are: the bathroom door was hard to close and open fully; and the breakfast felt a little lack luster to me, but at least it meant I didn't have to go far to get a bagel.

Breakfast had some nice options for build it yourself waffles or breakfast sandwiches with sausages and egg patties, plus hard boiled eggs. Pool, gym, laundry and conference room are available. Rooms have a nice kitchenette with microwave, full sink, dishwasher, plates, cups, bowls, and utensils, plus a sponge and dishwashing liquid. Plenty of room to spread out. There's a nearby Safeway if you need groceries. Parking was easy. The cons: The bed was uncomfortable for my wife, she kept tossing and turning. The flat sheet was a weird sheet/thin comforter combo which wasn't tucked in properly and was uncomfortable after a few hours. The room thermostat did not work as programmed. We set it for 66 to sleep but when we woke up groggy at 3, it had only gone down to 71. We turned it off and on, plus used the fan feature, no difference. The room vent is located by the kitchen, not the bed, so keep that in mind. The bathroom door slides, is heavy and does not have a true handle as it can retract fully in the wall. Based on that lack of handle, it was occasionally difficult to close and open. Due to the time, we did not want to try to switch rooms as we had to leave for a family obligation in a few hours in the morning. To the hotel's credit, they reached out immediately after I did an internal survey. They said to not hesitate to contact the front desk as it's staffed 24 hours. I appreciate them hearing my concerns.
