Great location, centrally located to many attractions in southwestern Michigan and northwestern Indiana. A bonus is that it's only a hop, Skip, and a jump from Chicago. I've stayed in the Hampton Inn all over the country, as I travel a lot. They usually have well-maintained facilities, with very friendly, accommodating staff. I stayed here 8 days, so I have a great grasp of this place. If there were other choices, I wouldn't have stayed here. In my opinion, the Niles location is very poorly managed and very overpriced. The price fluctuated between $114-$190 a night, depending on the day (weekday and weekend). I overheard the lady at the front desk telling another person the weekend rate was $170. They charged me $189, so I was overcharged. From the pictures they have posted, this looks like a very nice hotel. I had a different experience from those perfectly lit pictures. The first night I stayed, I reported things to the front desk. The cord to pull up the window shade was broken, and the panel to cover the wall under the phone ripped off. The phone didn't work. I went to the gym, and the water gushed out of the drinking fountain like a water hose. It splashed all over me. I checked out to travel and had to come back. They gave me a room on the 2nd floor. When I came to my room, I wanted to put my stuff in there, and the refrigerator didn't work. The phone didn't work. I reported the phone and refrigerator, and the lady said I could keep my food in their refrigerator. I don't know them, and I wasn't going to keep my stuff with the staff. There was a bad smell coming from down the hall. Someone had put their garbage outside the door, and it was really bad. I was thinking of calling the police to do a welfare check, as it smelled it something had died. Another guest and I went to the front desk to report it. The next day, housekeeping was supposed to clean my room, but never did. I came back, and it was the way I left it. Two days later, I left my hotel room around noon and came back in the evening to find my grocery bag next to the fridge gone. It had all my snacks and vitamins, including iron and calcium that I had to take. I went down to the front desk to report it to Jeweliana and she said, "Oh, I believe you," as if this had happened before. After she told me that the manager would find out which housekeeper was in my room and I could sit down with the manager and discuss compensation or replacement, they dodged me. No call, no follow-up until I finally checked out, and Amy was at the front desk. She was very defensive towards me a puffing up when I told her I was staying in a room and my bag was taken. Then she raised her voice and told me they checked the camera and saw no bag. I've never felt such a deep level of discomfort staying at a Hampton Inn. It was incredibly uncomfortable speaking to the manager, and the front desk staff were not friendly. If housekeeping threw out my bag by accident, they should admit it and compensate me. If they took it on purpose for themselves, that's a low blow. Here's more of what I experienced. The breakfast was okay, but I found the sausage at room temperature every day. I saw a huge dead roach on the lobby floor near the dining area. It appears that someone had stepped on it as it was dead. 50-75% of the electrical outlets in the rooms didn't work. The wall panel under the phone was either on the floor or cracked open, exposing the inside wall and wires. The chair in the room was stained with something. I had to put a comforter over it so I could sit on it. Smoke alarm in both rooms I stayed in had an annoying, bright blinking light. It was like a strobe light and went off continuously. There was mold around the bathroom faucet. Had to keep a washcloth near it because water would leak out when used. There was rust in the shower, running down the rail. Old coffee grounds were in the coffee maker and were never cleaned out the whole time I stayed. Scratchy towels, with brown stains on them, where some looked like blood and others makeup. Other people's hair on the pillows and linen. I'm not a ginger or blonde, so they weren't from me. The mattress was beyond needing to be replaced. The bed sheets were thin with blood stains. The comforter had dark stains on it too. There was juice or human fluids splashed up on the wall near the trash can. Also, there were more brown fluids splashed up on the wall near the bed. There was a coat of dust on lamps, and on top of headboards of beds. The air conditioner had a rattling sound coming from it. How can anyone sleep through that? I took a peek inside the vent, and there was dust and rock in there. The barn door was not installed correctly. There was a mound of sawdust on the floor. Got several bug bites on my legs while staying there. Amy and Jeweliana told me I could call the police after my bag was taken from my room. Nope. I had a better idea. I reported that and everything else to corporate, and they apologized and compensated me for the bad experience. Although that was a nice gesture, I'll never stay at their Niles location again. read more

My family stayed at Hilton Niles in June. We actually booked here just so our LO can play in the pool since they had a private pool. Our LO was only 5 months old so the water temperature was very important for her safety. Luckily it was very warm and nice so we had a great time. We wanted to stay again for the same reason in September however water was VERY COLD this time when we arrived so we asked the front desk staff if they could adjust the temperature for the next morning. He said he'll let the maintenance people know first thing in the morning so we checked again in the morning with the front desk. A mid aged lady with long hair was there and she said the room temperature for pool is always set to 95 degrees all season along that they never change it. If so how were we able to be in the water with our infant before? We wouldn't have been in the water if the water was this cold...! I guess the water was warm in June because it was summer and somehow the temperature outside of the building made water inside the building really warm....?!? It was inconsistent. Just a note to parents with LOs that the water is very cold if you have a young child. Our LO started to shivering as soon as we entered into the water. It was a big disappointment. The room was clean except the shower stall which had hair from previous guests on the floor. The hotel provides shampoo, body wash cream rinse, etc. they all have 0% across the top of the bottles. I am guessing it is an environmental thing, but it also indicates the amount of contents. There was 0 body wash, 0 shampoo and 0% cream rinse. Thankfully i brought my own from home. They also only provide 2 bath towels. read more

We stayed this past weekend at this hotel with several from our family. It was nicely decorated, clean and the front desk manager VJ was very friendly at checkin. Later we got carryout and watched the game in the lobby and he was very accommodating and helpful. The kids liked the pool and the breakfast provided was a nice bonus. Highly recommend this hotel room if you are in the area. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks VJ. read more

Newer Hotel right in the heart of Niles. The reason for the 4 stars vs 5 is there was a towel in our room with Black long hair on it and no one in our group had hair like that, in addition, Night-time front desk person ok'd a 3 PM late checkout for the next day which I was impressed for and did not ask for as late check out, 1 PM would have been great, then while in a meeting the next the manager called me and said I need to come get my things ASAP which was around noon as they need housekeeping to clean the room because they wanted to finish their shift. No acceptable. They should have honored what they said. I had to stop what I was doing and rush to get my things, Hotel is very nice but it need new management. And the lady who takes care of the breakfast was using her hands to move the omelet eggs in the pan - GROSS! - Please correct your issues as I would like to come back read more

I stayed here for two night to visit family and to go the Notre dame v Georgia tech football game. So I chose my room using digital check in. I get into my room to find that the floors of the bathroom were not clean. I also happened to notice the the barn door in the room, on the inside of the door was dust and dirt. Also, out of the five ( yes I said 5 ) light bulbs 4 of them were working. Those were the only sources of light I had. No lamp, no desk light. on September 30 we checked in for a wedding. We left everything in the room. We freshened up and went to the wedding. We came back put the hall light on. The desk lamp bulb didn't work, so I went to the standing light and that didn't work either. Plus there were wires hanging out of it I went to the front desk and the phone wasn't working. I went down to the front desk and a nice guy the manager night manager named JC or JV came up. He change the bulbs and my husband who knows about electricity, fix the wires in the standing lamp, and we got a new bulb. The phone never worked. We were told it was an outage from a thunderstorm, but don't you think they should let you know that? The night manager said they didn't know which rooms had the problem. In college for extra work during spring break, I worked at a motel, and when we cleaned the motel, we had to turn on the lights and make sure everything worked including the phone, that doesn't happen anymore? read more

I stayed with a group for my child's team who had traveled to the area for a tournament. Parents had gathered in the lobby area to socialize on the 1st evening of our stay. They were told to clear the lobby at 10pm and they did. The following morning we were advised that if any member of our group was not in their room by 10pm that evening they would have the police there to escort our entire group off the premises. There was zero fighting, zero vandalism, absolutely no belligerent behavior to warrant such a threat. So if you miss the good old days of living in a strict college dorm then this hotel is for you. Also be advised if you need any typical room amenities such as clean towels, toilet paper you will need to get those yourself at the front desk. If your fridge doesn't work (as mine did not), too bad. So bring a cooler and your own toilet paper. In bed and lights out by 10 pm or you'll be threatened with being removed by the police. This is not a hotel to choose if you are looking to feel like a welcomed guest. If you enjoy a hostile, unwanted feeling from your hotel then this place is for you! read more

My property was stolen by the staff. Corporate did nothing about it. I called the SAME DAY that I checked out and told them I left my shoes in the room I also went up there the SAME DAY and the receptionist told me the manager had locked my shoes away and they could ship them to me. The next week I followed up with the hotel they took my name and number and told they would call me when head of housekeeping would be there. No call. The following week I called the woman who answered assured me that she knew all about my shoes and she would have the manager give me a call. NO CALL. The next week I called AGAIN and asked to speak to a manager he told me sure can I tell her what it's about? I said yes stolen property he came back to the phone and told me the manager stepped off the property. These people gave me the run around for a month! I continued to call to check on my property to let them know I wanted my shoes. After 4 weeks they tell me they released my property to a family member. I AM PISSED! Then they told me that don't know who they gave them to they don't keep a record of that. So you didn't give my property to me when I came back up there THE SAME day I left them and you don't know who yiu gave them to. WHAT!?? I need a resolution my money for my property!! read more
