The hotel was clean. But the staff were not very good. They charged our wrong credit card. We have no clean towels in our room We had to change rooms after they found out it was given to another customer to. Than they are knocking on door before 9am. Needless to say. Whooboy. Came to Dowagiac for a funeral and there's no where else to stay or I would be there instead. Staff doesn't seem to care about their jobs at all, the halls and stairwells look like they haven't been vacuumed in a month, there weren't enough towels or cups provided, the pool desperately needs a cleaning. Breakfast was disappointing and there's a lot of small maintenance things that need to be taken care of (fascia of our counter is falling off, mismatched ice bucket lid, no screen in the window, janky toilets and showed. I get that this is the only hotel in town so there's no pressure to give an acceptable customer experience, but at least try to care just a little bit. Next time I'll stay in the next closest hotel, even if it adds an hour of driving to see family. Aside from being a place to sleep (on sheets of questionable cleanliness), there's nothing to recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Worst hotel experience starting from the moment we walked in to find no one at the reception desk. Peeling wallpaper. A balcony that overlooked an empty indoor pool area, leaving the room smelling like the pool area. No screens on the windows in any of the rooms, so it was a choice between the smell, or the mosquitoes. Who puts a coffee maker in a room without a pot, then doesn't supply coffee for the machine? And not even a plastic cup in the room if you want a drink of water. The room with a hot tub that we paid extra to get? Forget it. When my wife filled it up, there was so much scum on the water that she didn't want to put her arm in it to reach for the plug and drain it. No tissues in the tissue holder, and only one roll of toilet paper. Thank god we didn't need more, because there was no one around to get it for us. Avoid like the plague. That's about the only thing we didn't get there. read more

I'm a resident of Dowagiac and knew the reputation of the Baymont was negative. I was trying to find a vacancy for my son who is coming up for a Notre Dame game on the 31st of August. I was hesitant to book them there but it was my only option. I stopped in to pre-pay for the room and imagine my surprise when I saw a miraculous transformation. The lobby and the room were spotless and rates Were well below Holiday Inn Express. I spoke with a very pleasant desk clerk and he informed me that it was under new ownership and they were working hard to update it to a first class accommodation. I urge you to give them a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

If I could give this place a negative rating I would. I go to check out and they tell me that my credit card from Friday night was denied, however when i went to look up the payment it shows pending. The blond hair girl at the front desk tried to argue with me that because it says pending on my credit card online it means it's declined on their system. Then she tried to tell me that I owed $184 per night. When I pulled up my reservation receipt online where it was for $184 for two nights she said it was wrong. I requested a nonsmoking room they stuck me in a smoking room and per their sign they give a free night if you run into problems and did not do as advertise. read more

If you can do not stay here!!! The rooms are disgusting there is mild all around the sink. There was a leak from the upstairs bathroom into our bathroom causing some flooding we were moved to a different room that was as equally nasty with the mild around the sink handles. The soap was already open and used when we arrived in the room. There was no ice bucket/bag when we asked the front desk for one that one also had mold on it !! The phone in both rooms did not work. There was pubic hairs on the towels. I couldn't do anything except sit in the room and wait for the next day to Come i wasn't comfortable even thinking about taking a shower. The front desk worker that checked me in seems Incompetent and I hope this place is reported to the health department. read more

This should be called broke down palace . The door outside was broke . Then my room door wouldn't lock so I wedge a chair under the knob . The sink would only at pressure and the shower would not drain .so after a five minutes I was in ankle deep water . There was no soap in the room or tissues . read more

Terrible place. It is worse now than when I stayed here 3 yrs. ago. I didn't think it could get any worse, but it has! Blood spot on the sheet, live roach in the rm, lumpy, uncomfortable beds. We rented 8 rms for a family funeral in Dowagiac. Every person in our party had something negative to report. During the day I saw the front desk clerk out in the parking lot, smoking and chatting w/ someone, so often that she was out there more than at the desk! My advice to travelers: DO NOT STAY HERE. OMG I don't know where to start with this hotel. We got there at night on October 11, 2019, waited 15 minutes in the lobby for someone to come up front after saying helloooo 15 times and knocking on the counter, I then walked to the end of the counter and there was a sign laying flat on the counter telling you that if no one is there to call the numbers listed. The guy finally came and he was very nice indeed. Now we get to this room with a strange smell, I also had to go back to the front desk since there were no towels in the room. As soon as I wash my hands to eat.......what do you know the sink is backed up. In the morning I notify the lady about the sink and she asks me when do I check out?. It doesn't matter when I'm checking out, they should have been trying to make it better for me. An hour lady the lady from the front desk comes to my room with this huge barefooted lady with some drano. The breakfast was a joke......I mean for them to not have any milk when they put cereal out (it was a lot of kids in the hotel too). The housekeepers were rude as I don't know what just nasty for no reason and they talk to you as if you owe them something and if you're due to check out the housekeepers started knocking on doors at 9:30. Never did they try to apologize or discount my payment in any way. This is the worst hotel I've been to in the Wyndham chain.....this independentlyowned location is a money pit that's all they want. We will not return, I'll drive 14 miles up the road and get a hotel in Niles or even closer in Berrien Springs or Benton Harbor. Also it doesn't matter how many bags or kids you have they DO NOT HAVE ANY ELEVATORS AND WON'T SAY NOTHING UNTIL YOU'VE PAID, ALSO ALL THEIR ROOMS DO NOT HAVE FRIDGE AND MICROWAVE THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE IN RANDOM ROOMS AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHICH ONES THEY HAVE TO GO LOOK. read more

This place is literally the worst place I have ever stayed. If you need to stay in Dowagiac you would be better off finding a park bench and some newspapers. On the first night we arrived the staff had messed up our reservation. We had a group reservation and they had a mix up where they had double booked a room. So one of our group members was given a room that already had someone in it. Then the room was still deducted from the total rooms. But, at this point it was not a big deal. Then we walked into our room. None working phone, no screens on the windows, boogers on the pillow case, several blood stains on the sheets, broken security bar on the door, and trash on the floor. But, it was 1 am so we just collapsed and figured we would deal with it in the morning. Next morning I walk down stairs and slip on the wet floor. The gal at the front smiled at me, laying where I fell, and said, "I guess I forgot to put up the wet floor sign." I guess she did... The girl on the next shift screwed up the transaction for the rooms and got into a screaming match with her boss on the phone in front of us. We asked to have our rooms cleaned. This did not happen all day. When we finally had to ask, for the third time, to have the rooms changed the manager was upset because, as he put it, we had already slept in the beds with blood and boogers for one night, why should we have a problem sleeping a second night in it. Not one, but all of these things actually happened. I guess when you are the only hotel in town you can be a horrible as you want to be. Next time we come to Dowagiac we are doing AirBNB. One star is too high for this establishment. I am so disappointed in Wyndham Corporate for allowing this hotel to exist. This is the filthiest hotel my family has ever stayed in. Our refrigerator had past visitors meat and cheese left in it, the room was obviously not cleaned. The hot tub was cold, could only imagine the bacteria level. They had nothing to say when I complained, just brushed it off, I should have been louder and demanded my money back. I just hope this review keeps others from staying here. read more

This hotel deserves a negative rating but since that's not possible you have to,get a rating to provide a review. I reserved two,rooms for 8/31/18 and 9/1/18 and then one room for the night of 9/1/18. 1. I reserved rooms way back in April and requested first floor rooms and was told they were already taken yet there were no cars in the parking lot. My brother in law and I had back surgeries and now had to go to he second floor. A problem when there's no Elevator. 2. One of the rooms bathtub was filthy with dried up something. They changed the room. 3. Both rooms had problems flushing the toilets to the point of overflowing. One did just that on Saturday morning. Water was turned off in the room to avoid damage. 4. The tubs drained poorly where by the time you finished the water was around your ankles. 5. No hot water around 8:30 AM on Sunday and no employee in the hotel to complain to and believe me guests looked all over for one. One guest said he was waiting 30 minutes at the desk. 6. When my friends arrived around 1:30 in the morning on September 2nd they said there rooms would be complimentary since there was a problem with the door being locked. The door looked like it had been kicked in, it smelled of urine and had one bed instead of two. They drove home 200 miles in the middle of the night. There is more but I think you will get the ides about this hotel. Definitely a place to avoid. read more

Yikes. Rough. Did we find a place to sleep? Yes. Could it have been worse? Probably. Could it have been better? Absolutely. Our room wasn't ready an hour after check in, we had to get ready for a wedding in the hotel bathroom which may or may not have had kid puke on the wall and our hotel bathroom didn't have a shower curtain. Customer service was very tough as well. I cared more about customer satisfaction at my mini golf job begrudgingly making cherry snow cones during high school summers. Do yourself a favor and spend $50 more for a nicer place. read more

Worst hotel I've stayed at in quite a while. The only hotel we could find in the area, and was stuck there for 4 days. The place is glued together with duct tape. Requested a microwave (since the description says that each room has one). And never received one. Was told by management that they passed them around between the rooms. One of the dresser draws was broken. Oh and there was combos by the bed and nightstand, which shows how thorough housekeeping is. I too would not have given a rating at all. We come from out of town and this is our only option for a motel near our family that lives here. For the last 2 years the pool has not been open for one reason or another. We had no telephone in our room as well as no ice bucket, shampoo, toilet paper or HOT WATER! I went to the desk a couple of times to complain but the manager was never around. I plan on calling my credit card company to dispute the motel charge along with contacting the BBB. read more

An absolute dump. Arrived 2 hours after checkin, room not ready. A maintenance guy shows up to repair big slab of front of sink, which fell off and was on the floor. He has carpet shampoo machine. Absolutely the pits! A block of rooms had been "reserved"by the future bride, who was required to give a credit card number. As guests began to check in, the hotel charged two days of rooms for each guest against the brides DEBIT card she had used to reserve the rooms. The clerk did not ask for payment/credit card from each guest checking in. By the day of the wedding, her entire bank account had been wiped out. Manager would not put the money back and corporate customer service stated "billing" was up to each individual hotel. One room had crusty material in the bed, one had a clogged toilet, one had no air, housekeeping did not makeup the rooms or replenish towels. If you have to stay near Dowagiac, drive an extra 15 miles and go to the Niles/South Bend area. read more

Our stay was awful but the only option close to Dowagiac. The only time anyone was at the front desk is when we checked on Friday night. They had a handwitten sign on the front desk stating they are in the bathroom (for hours...days??) & 2 phone #'s to call if you need help. No one answered either #. I finally ask a housekeeper for toilet paper and she said the manager was upstairs sleeping. Other people left the front desk tired of waiting. While having coffee in the lobby the phone must of rang 10 times with no answer. No exterior door were locked with empty beer bottles sitting outside the door. The pool is under construction without any secure doors to keep children out. Contacted corporate for Wyndham Baymont and their reply was "I was email by the local owner of Dowagiac stating they were have phone trouble that day". I emailed back stating the phone issue is the least of their troubles!! STEER CLEAR!!! read more
