When traveling you always have an expectation for a Hampton Inn, usually paying more because you can trust the brand. This is more like a forgotten Sleep Inn or tired Best Western. Not dirty. The bed is comfortable but the pillows are a bit lumpy. Furniture in the room is damaged. Outlets by the bed don't even hold a plug. Bathroom toilet not bolted down and a seal must be broken based on the string odor. We thought the neighboring room had a loud white noise machine. Turns out it is the fridge. The freezer portion is so full of ice nothing can fit into that section. Shelves broke or missing in the fridge. I'm not one to photo every bit and bump but as a for instance, but here's a photo of the bathroom mirror in a state of repair since? Some doors not soft closing so at the mercy of other guest's courtesy. Not at all what you may expect from a Hilton family of properties or a bright and modern Hampton Inn. Hope you get a good rate. Hilton brands promote more, and their staff and customer service "should" provide that?! We stayed here for a wedding due to price, proximity and being Hilton members. We would not come back. First they give 2 towels per room and they are paper thin. We asked the desk for more who gave us a RBF and said that's all we get and house keeping is every other day. After being told that, a Lakisha (?) texted us from the desk asking if we need anything. We said towels. She said "ok" and more came. Weird. Breakfast wasn't bad. They were out of the waffle batter within the first 15 minutes and no one was around to fill it up. First time at this Hampton Inn property by the Richmond airport. The price was right, but not the quality. I have given few sub par reviews of any Hilton properties over the years. So this was disappointing. Parking was plentiful, but likely because they were not fully booked. No debris on my walk up to check in. The male staff was professional and friendly. He did explain breakfast times etc. However he forgot to acknowledge me as a Diamond Member and provide water until asked. The lobby was clean and presented well. The key to my room accessed the room. My Queen size bed was adequate and room clean. It was obviously dated, but that alone did not sink my review whatsoever. However the ripped curtains contributed to the low review. Also the bathroom wall paper was stained. The shower although clean needed fresh caulk. Everything worked and proper towels supplied. Best thing about the room is the AC got cold. I did utilize the breakfast a few times and it was subpar. No yogurt, no milk and one morning no coffee or eggs. That's unacceptable. The fried up sausage they had one morning was yum. Checkout was smooth and a hard copy receipt provided upon request. Upon exiting the outside trash was overflowing. I walked back in to alert the front desk. I spent about 15 minutes in my car texting and upon departure the trash was still in need of attention. A 2.5 rounding down. read more

Rip off charge additional $10 parking fee started in April. It's a lot, no security, lit poorly and signs saying not responsible for your car? Sure they are. Dated facility, with NO market. Worst customer service ever. First of all, at the last minute (while I was in flight to Richmond - about an hour away), they decided to cancel my reservation made directly through Hilton. I was digitally checked in. I only checked on this because one of my co-workers had said they tried to tell him they didn't have a room for him when he had arrived. I then initiated a chat session with their front desk. The person I spoke to outright lied to me, by first telling me that the room I had was not available because it is now out of service. She said that "the lady she spoke to already found me another room". This lady being someone from my company that was trying to help me figure out what happened and was looking for another place for me to stay. I then stated that she had told this "lady" that my room was given to someone else as it is "first come, first serve". Because I already knew this was stated, I called her out on it and said she was lying. She then responded that they were not lying, and that they were overbooked by 8 people and that 7 other people besides me would also need to find a room elsewhere. I am not sure how this = what she first told me, so I hold to my statement that she was lying. During this entire chat, she didn't once apologize for the inconvenience. I contacted Hilton guest services when I landed, and they were very apologetic especially for the way I was treated by the Hampton Inn front desk. The individual that I was chatting with and the person my other co-workers spoke with was Leticia. The next day I stopped by to pick up my co-worker before heading into our worksite, and I heard a different individual (not sure of the name) arguing with someone on the phone. I would stay clear of this hotel at all costs. I was told by the front desk at the hotel I stayed at that for this particular Hampton Inn, he has heard a lot of bad press about it, including that same day someone else reported to him that they got their room cancelled. He also said that they should not reflect Hilton as a whole, as they are privately owned. I have never had a problem with the Hilton Gardens right next door, and I would recommend paying $10 more a night to stay there. I stayed at Hyatt Place (a little further away from the airport though), and it was perfectly fine too. read more

Just one night here at this Hampton that is quite close to the Richmond Airport but also shares the road with a handful of other hotel properties. The Hampton is just about the last one so it's a little quieter as far as road and airport noise. Slow close door on the room door so there were no slammed doors and that was terrific. King bed was firm, comfortable and had very clean sheets. Plenty of towels in the spacious bathroom. Work desk was comfortable, which I needed as I worked from the hotel for a couple of hours in the morning. Wifi worked pretty well. I did not use the business center or the fitness center. I skipped breakfast as I had a morning errand to run. The hotel was pretty good about my later checkout and only called to remind me once. I'd stay here again. We stayed for one night and there is a mandatory hold of $100 on your card. That's just the beginning. The front desks customer service is appalling. I'm shocked that, Taylor, has a job there. So unhelpful, unfriendly, and unprofessional. The breakfast area looked like a handful of toddlers had their way with everything. It was a mess! No workers in sight. Also, when we asked the front desk, Taylor, if there was going to be any coffee brought out she had such a rude attitude like we were asking her to run around the block. If at all possible I would give this hotel zero stars. By some miracle our delayed flight landed in time to still get a rental car at midnight and even though we were exhausted it was not meant for us to have a good night of sleep at this hotel. I stay at hotels on average once a month, I have never had to ask for a room to be changed after I've checked in but twice in one night is astonishing. The first room was 80 degrees and the bathroom did not work. The second room smelled like fish as soon as the door swung open. So the location changed from my last visit in 2014, they now moved down the block. Still a great place to stay if you are in the area. I find it to be the most affordable. Indoor pool was great, however pool towels could have been bigger than a wash cloth. Room and grounds were very clean. I would love to give this hotel 5 stars. Initially it appeared very modern and clean (not just the lobby but the rooms, too), the staff has been friendly enough, the breakfast is pretty great. So what's the problem? Oh just that last night while I slept a silent feeding frenzy went on. Yes BED BUGS. Disgusting and SO itchy. I reported it to the front desk and asked for another room. I reported it like the nuclear warheads were launching: with all the surprise and disgust in the world! The front desk guy "Bob" didn't immediately apologize and didn't even seem to care this had happened to me. (In customer service don't you react when your product has inflicted bodily harm????) I decided to share (without him asking) that I had a little over 19 bites on me that were quarter sized welts; he didn't even react! So I said "is this common here?" And he says "honestly, it's common in every hotel" Ummm no it's not BOB! I've stayed in hotel rooms on and off for YEARS and never been bitten once. Not once! My last hotel stay was 2 weeks ago in a Hampton Inn in Atlanta where I also was a victim of bed bugs. Hilton: we are done. You can have your points and your bed bugs. (I was in room 218. Great hotel - clean, friendly staff, conveniently located, good price. I knocked 1 star off for 2 reasons. 1. Recycling options. Unfortunately, there aren't any and that kills me. 2. The breakfast. It's comparable to your average hotel breakfast, but for the health conscious, it's slim pickings. I am currently sitting in this hotel freezing my buns off typing this with frozen fingers. I checked in on Friday night and was given a room where the heat didn't work and the shower only ran cold. Needless to say this was miserable as it is a max high of 53 with nights around 30-35 degrees in Virginia right now. I called and spoke with Aaron who was very nice but informed me the hotel had sold out and that we can change rooms the next day. The following day I was given a new room but I am here for an important event so I did not enter the new room until very late last night. I woke up around 7am this morning freezing shivering in the bed. This room vent is also blowing cold air. It won't heat up and I have it set at 86 degrees. It won't even turn off to at least stop blowing the cold air on me! I just tried to call downstairs as I am extremely cold, much too cold to shower but this was unsuccessful as the phone in this room doesn't even work! I would never ever stay here again read more

I stay at this property often. Got to agree: the room doors slam. It IS a problem. 24 hours a day. I have let Hilton Corporate know this. Bed Bugs? In my several stays: 0 The WiFi is poor. The Lady that ran this past Sunday Morning's Breakfast setup: AWESOME! She is a Keeper! The noisy Housekeeping Crew, with the overly-confident lead Sista: Need Guest Relations Training. My room has ALWAYS been what I expected. But, this past weekend, with a few unexpected mishaps. Moving, when at Richmond Airport, to the new Hyatt Place, near restaurants and shopping. My Hilton Rewards will come from other Hilton properties. UPDATE: I am thoroughly impressed with Hilton and the Property Manager's interest in my concerns about my stay, this past weekend. Stayed at this hotel a couple of weeks ago. It was nice, the room was great. Just a standard room. Complimentary breakfast, the usual meat, waffle maker, eggs, cereal, muffin, bagel. Pool was rather small, with plenty of chlorine. The only down fall is that there are 2 other hotel next to it and parking is tight when something is going on (event). This hotel didn't have a restaurant in it, so if you wanted something to eat you had to walk down to one of the other hotels or order from your room. The plus was that they had a Wawa(convenient store), and a seven eleven that was up the street. And a mall area 10 minutes away. read more

This is a pretty new hotel. it's only been open about a year. I could tell right away because everything looks fresh and clean. the lobby looks really nice and it probably has the nicest eating area of any hotel of thi caliber I've seen. The staff is friendly and genuinely interested in being helpful even if they are a tad understaffed. I had only two complaints: the pool temperature was a little too cold (though my daughter swam for hours even if my wife couldn't take it) and the eggs on the breakfast bar didn't seem like they were real eggs. And one kind of odd thing. The king bed rooms don't have bathtubs. The shower is full sized as if you could fit a bathtub but there isn't one. If you want a bath, you'll need to go with the double queen room. I liked though, that i could easily connect my laptop to the tv. We had an impromptu movie night. And there are lots of restaurants and a huge area with stores and such nearby (in case you forget somehing like we did). I'd definitely stay here again. read more
