Terrific hotel!! My husband and I stayed here for two weeks while our Tiffin motorhome was having some warranty work performed at the nearby Tiffin factory. The staff at the Hampton Inn were so nice and accommodating. Everyone from the front office/desk staff to the two ladies working the breakfast buffet in the morning. They kept everything well stocked all morning, the area was clean, and the food was quite good. it's a very quiet hotel, and once the buffet shuts down in the morning there are plenty of seats and tables for just relaxing, reading or working on your computer in a quiet atmosphere. Overall it was a very pleasant two experience. Rob

Had a last-minute trip in the area and decided to stay here at the Hampton Inn. I arrived at night time and was able to check in with a digital key on my phone which was nice. Room was very clean, with extremely comfortable bed. The best part of this hotel was actually the staff that worked in the morning. Matt that was in the breakfast area was always cleaning and there were plenty of breakfast options that were good. I had this older gentleman that was so kind. We had a nice little chat. Then overheard a couple asking for some hot sauce., at first he could not find any and actually had offered to drive over to the nearest grocery store to get them some. The ladies at the front desk were so nice. It just reminded me of that sweet southern hospitality that I love about this area.

What a wonderful place to stay. Newly renovated and reopened 2 weeks ago. The best breakfast I've ever seen in the US. The room is modern and clean. The accessible room is done well . Electric curtains and the ac temp control is low enough for a wheel chair. Electric doors are a great addition.

This is the nicest, and cleanest hotel I have stayed in, in a long time. The staff was very friendly, the oatmeal was cooked just right, there is not much else to say, other than I will stay here again when I am in this area.

Wonderful stay. Rooms were sealed for cleanliness and safety during COVID. Felt very safe.

My family stayed here while on a cross country road trip. Best Hampton Inn we've stayed in. So clean! The staff was super friendly too.

However, the true beauty in this home was not the home or antique pieces, Bernette, the owner, is the true gem when you stay at Shadowlawn. She goes above and beyond for her guests and truly cares for the people staying in her home. Mississippi is known for hospitality and Bernette epitomizes the spirit of hospitality in Mississippi. When you talk with Bernette, it is like talking with a friend you have known for years. The breakfast she makes is five-star quality and made from scratch. The rooms were very comfortable and well-designed and decorated. We slept like babies. We also were staying during a MSU gameday weekend, and the rates for our stay were great, especially considering the alternatives were very pricey and do not come with Bernette and her amazing personality and attitude. We highly recommend anyone visiting Columbus or Starkville to stay with Bernette at Shadowlawn. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Columbus because we already know where we will be staying, which is Shadowlawn. Why go anywhere else?

We have been coming to…read morethis location since it opened up and I am a club member due to the amount of times we have stayed here. It has been a couple years since our last stay. Last time I thought it was getting bad but this time was the pits. Here's the breakdown: Pros: -The staff was friendly, kind, and respectful -Breakfast was your typical holiday inn express breakfast. Nothing to complain about really. -bed were comfy and sheets seemed clean Cons: -waited close to an hour past check in to get in room. Staff said there were many rooms checking out and only 4 housekeepers working. -rooms have not been deep cleaned in a long time (probably because they don't have the time with limited staff) - dust everywhere -mold around a/c vents, bathroom -paint peeling from ceiling and walls -furniture was ripped and dirty -floors were sticky and dirty to the point of wearing shoes in the room - door handle was broken to bathroom -cockroach found under bench where luggage was placed -trash was thrown in one lamp. Was also dusty -hall light was hanging from ceiling -not enough towels. Had to go to front desk. Not enough there either so had to wait on housekeeping to come bring extra. Positive was that the housekeeper was very nice. -keys didn't work most of the time. Many visits to front desk. Other families were in rooms and they had a ripped couch where there was pieces were missing where staff covered it with towels. Under their couch they had a half eaten brownie. When doing her nails the mom used a black light dryer and unfortunately saw the couch under that light. . Their key didn't work so much the front desk gave them a master key . Another family had to be moved because a/c would go any lower than 78 degrees. Their next room had a pull out couch where their daughter was to sleep but it wouldn't pull out. She had to sleep on the couch but the sheets were filthy. Luckily her mom brings extra sheets for situations like this. The pool: the device for allowing people in wheelchairs into the pool was broken. The water was chilly. The sky lights were broken and covered with trash bags. Water wasn't horribly dirty. Two towels available for all swimmers at 10 am. Breakfast area: staff kept food supplied. One staff member was friendly while another did her job and was not overly friendly but that is okay. Both were attentive to cleaning the tables and floors. Overall, breakfast area was fine. Lobby was okay as well. Overall: wouldn't recommend. This is unfortunate. This use to be a really nice hotel but it has really gone down hill. This is beyond needing updating. It needs an overhaul and deep cleaning. Then the morning of their departure the outlet tripped.

However, with the upgrades, the cleanliness seems to have taken a turn for the worst. See pics. There is also a charge for children. I booked 2 rooms online and filled in the appropriate amount of people and even added in details in the section given noting that there would be 2 adults and a 2 year old in one room. Upon arrival, I was charged extra for the 2 year old. That was fine, just unexpected since I had filled out the information beforehand. The clerk was a young man and he was mildly nice. The room was quiet and no unpleasant odors. The beds in one room were decent. The pillows are okay. Towels are okay. The bed in the other room was worn out with impressions from people sleeping on either side, causing a mound in the middle. The bathroom is what really stuck out to me. The facing of the vanity needed cleaning. The joints in the updated shower and tub were not met or seamed properly, so there was mildew growing. The bottom of the mirror was not clean. We rested after traveling all day and checked out. It served its purpose but when you are showering or bathing, black mildew should not come from the seams of the shower and tub. The area is safe and quiet. There is no breakfast, but the huddle house next door is convenient.
