Unfortunately, this place seems to have lost its luster. This used to be my go to stop when driving through Alabama. I didn't mind the hold on my card being processed. However, with the upgrades, the cleanliness seems to have taken a turn for the worst. See pics. There is also a charge for children. I booked 2 rooms online and filled in the appropriate amount of people and even added in details in the section given noting that there would be 2 adults and a 2 year old in one room. Upon arrival, I was charged extra for the 2 year old. That was fine, just unexpected since I had filled out the information beforehand. The clerk was a young man and he was mildly nice. The room was quiet and no unpleasant odors. The beds in one room were decent. The pillows are okay. Towels are okay. The bed in the other room was worn out with impressions from people sleeping on either side, causing a mound in the middle. The bathroom is what really stuck out to me. The facing of the vanity needed cleaning. The joints in the updated shower and tub were not met or seamed properly, so there was mildew growing. The bottom of the mirror was not clean. We rested after traveling all day and checked out. It served its purpose but when you are showering or bathing, black mildew should not come from the seams of the shower and tub. This place is run by CROOKS. THEY WILL charge your card for 'credit card authorization' for 'incidentals' and make up lies as to why they charge you. They will racially profile you when you enter and give you a higher price based on your race. There is mold and mildew everywhere everywhere. & They tell their employees NOT to mention they have free breakfast because they try and avoid making too much food. They also use LEFTOVERS from the breakfast day before if there are any available. I wouldn't let my worst enemy stay in this motel. read more

Man at the front desk was EXTREMELY rude to me and several other people wanting rooms. We was tired of driving and desperate for sleep so we stayed otherwise we would have left just because of his condescending attitude. Room was far from clean, building is old. Phone didn't work, door didn't lock properly. read more

This is a $38 hotel that's charging $147 (no AAA discount & $174 after tax) You'll notice the smell first. No breakfast & no amenities. Down the road 15 minutes either direction you'll find a Holiday Inn with pool and full breakfast for a lot less. You deserve better, my friend. Keep driving. read more

This was a pleasant surprise really. We were welcomed by a very nice lady when we after showing up really late. The lobby was clean, but the bathrooms were locked. The rooms were actually pretty large. The beds were comfortable too. Overall, I would recommend this location. It's A-OK. read more

I wanted to post an update to my previous review. About a month after posting this, I received a call from the regional manager. First, he apologized for the way I was treated. Then he let me know they had the hotel inspected for bugs and treated. Apparently, the bugs hadn't had a chance to spread or increase so thankfully we had found the few that were there but they treated the hotel anyway just to make sure. He showed me they care and that says a lot about a business. Bed bugs! At first I thought this hotel would be alright but about 11:30 I was bitten by a bed bug. I killed it and showed it to the manager at check out. They walked to the room and did a very brief inspection and told me I brought it in with my luggage. I must have found the only one. HA! The WiFi was so slow you couldn't use it for anything and even then it kept going out. Then all night long we could hear the door slamming and people walking up and down the steps because there wasn't any sound proofing. Then in the morning, I found out there was a $100 hold placed on my bank. They do have a sign that says there may be a hold placed on funds but every other place I've stayed have always told me either they would or wouldn't place a hold. Not a word here. When I tried to use the in-room coffee pot, it didn't properly. So, I couldn't sleep all night because I didn't want anymore bugs crawling on me. I went to the office in the morning and showed the lady the bug. (See beginning). Then I also told her that it would be nice if they informed people that they were placing an additional $100 hold on their cards. She said the sign told people and they don't do it, the bank does. Well, the sign says there MAY be a hold, not there will be. Everywhere else I have stayed told me if they were placing a hold or not. During this conversation, the manager got involved. I was simply trying to tell them they should inform people, then ask them if they would prefer to use a credit card but this guy started out like he could careless about my comment and starting asking me "why didn't I use a credit card if I knew there could be a hold" and told me "if I couldn't afford to have the extra hold placed on my funds then I should make arrangements to stay someplace else." He was trying to be intimidating and act like since I am a woman, I am an idiot and shouldn't make suggestions. He told me that "they don't tell us because they can't give a 30 minute seminar to everyone they tell." They never once said anything like "sorry you were bitten" or "sorry your stay was unpleasant". The whole attitude was this is all your fault and your problem. I will be willing to give the hotel another try after the manager called. He was very apologetic for the way I was treated and the man who said he was the manager no longer works for them because apparently I wasn't the only one who had complaints about him. read more

Me and my Grandsons Clint ,Jack, and Conner, take in one college football game a year, the Arkansas VS Alabama game. This year was no different. we usually get a motel, sleep Saturday night and find an local event to take in Sunday morning and go home. This year we booked a room at Key West Inn, in Hamilton, Alabama. Room at booking on line was $62.00 with taxes and fee bringing the total to $80.00. When we got there around 12:00 noon, they ask for an extra 20 for coming 2hrs early, OK my cost for the room now is $103 and change. We checked in and was sent to room 213, first key didn't work and the lady at the desk made me one that did. Enter the room, the boys laid on top of the beds as I went to turn on the lights, successfully, until I went to the the last one, then it didn't work and the other room lights went out, but the bath room lights were all the lights that was on. I went down to downstairs to report it. Checking my bank account, for the credit for motel room and discovered an extra $100 was credited to my stay at the motel besides the credit for my room. We were about 11/2 hours from the game in Tuscaloosa, no power in the room to watch other games so we decided to go ahead to the game. The lady at the front said the power was out, and knew nothin about the extra $100 except it was in the fine print on the reciept and a small stand up sign on the counter. we left for the game. At 8:01 pm I receive at call from the Motel from room 215 some one say's they are from that room, that something was happing in our room 213, and I need to come back to the motel. it was the beginning of the the 3rd quarter, but we left our game and took the drive back to our room. hour and half drive missing the game. arriving at the motel about 10:00, our key the lady gave me didn't work, had been turned off , manager, was rude, said he'd been called in for our problem, for i'd called the motel 6 times on the way back, asking the night clerk to check the room for me and they never would, being put on hold. The manager began to scold my grand son for placing a negative review on line for our earlier experiences. Through much discussion for the next 10 or so minutes, finally we decide to get our things from the room and travel home. Manager said he wouldn't return our money, wouldn't discuss the other $100 hit on our bank account. So we spent about $203 and change on a 30 minute stay at this motel, on scale of 1-5 stars, this gets a negative 5 for the worst place and experience at a motel I've ever had. we were on a budget trip, and they ruined our day. read more

If I could give this hotel no stars then I would. First The lady photo copied my debit card front and back and made me give her $100 cash deposit stating we would get it back in the morning. I spilt makeup and cleaned it up with a towel and my daughter got the bed wet from sitting on the bed with a wet towel. They said we completely damaged the bed and ruined a towel and kept our $100 deposit. I offered to pay for the towel but they accused me off not putting a diaper on my child and said she peed on the bed. We argued that other hotels don't even do this and she stated that we couldn't even afford to stay at a nicer hotel! Who does she think she is?? I will never stay at another Key West Inn. read more

The beds were comfortable for a couple people who had been on the road for 16 hours (with a stop or two included). We had absolutely no complaints. It was quiet, and the sweet overnight desk clerk was super friendly. read more

They claim to be American Owned and operated however when they over charges us and we called and talked to a "Patel" . Hotel is clean. No elevator. Extremely outdated decor. read more

Cute place! The rooms were very clean, front desk staff nice, beds comfortable, and continental breakfast was good for the price of the rooms. Nicer place than you'd think to get off the side of the highway... right next to a 24 hour diner which is very good for a cheap dinner. I definitely would recommend! (Tip: seek out deals at the front counter... we ended up getting $30 knocked off the price of the room) read more

What a nightmare!! I booked online through the Key West Inn website. I added a note asking for a room on the first floor due to the hotel not having an elevator and I have knee problems. I received a call from Key West in Hamilton and a lady told me in order to do that, there would be an extra charge. I have stayed here three times and this was never an issue. The price she quoted me was higher than any other website I visited. I told her this and she stated for the location I was asking for, the price she quoted was the best she could do. REALLY? I am handicap and this is not ok. She said the rates online were for 2nd floor rooms. Nowhere does it state that. I told her I wanted to just cancel the two night reservation and she told me I would have to call where I booked to cancel. I did call Key West Inn, canceled my reservation, and submitted a complaint. The people that I talked to could not believe I was treated this way and kept apologizing. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! read more
