My family has tried at various times of the day and through different methods of contact to discuss about cancelling our membership for about a month now.. and nothing! We even at some point tried to decrease the 90 minute session to 60 minute session, and surprise, surprise.. it didn't work. None of the teachers there can help either. All breakfast are cold breakfast (cereal, muffin) same thing everyday. All lunches come from a can. Nothing is fresh in this school! One great teacher there and she knows who she is! Whenever I come visit home, I always try to sneak in and get my hair done here. At one point it was…read morewalk-in welcome, then it became by appointment, so I stopped by to see if I could get seen. I was surprised as they said they could take me now however I had a few things in the car that needed to go to the house so I was told to come back at 5:30 and they would take care of me. I came back at 5:30 and it's like the whole vibe was different. Now I'm very aware that these are students, however they are learning to become professionals and therefore you expect professionalism at its best. Sadly, that's not what I got. The students talking amongst themselves with topics that are inappropriate, cussing at each other, eating and drinking at stations . . . However the one that almost had me get up and leave was a roller hit the floor and another student picked it up and acted like she was going to roll my hair with that roller. I had too much product used in my hair - which we discussed prior to starting about - and it would have been nice to be given a towel to put on the back of my neck as the dryer setting was set high in attempts to dry my hair. My hair wasn't completely dry when I left so ultimately the curls didn't hold, but morning you couldn't even tell I had my hair done. Also, if they are talking about other clients in front of me, I know they are talking about me in front of other clients, but once again, this goes back to professionalism or in this case lack of.

In the past I just get a wash and blow dry to prepare my hair for braids. I was assigned to student Antionete. She warmly greeted me then off to her station we went. She confirmed the services I was getting then completed a standard hair evaluation with one of the teachers. The teacher brought to my attention that my strands were a bit dry and could use a moisture treatment. I appreciated this since I've had my hair in braids for awhile although I condition well when I take them down. While Antionete washed my hair she regularly checked the water temperature and her scrub was comfortable for me. I enjoyed the thorough wash and condition. She also didn't rush to complete my flat iron. My all natural curly hair was nicely straight and light weight. I was quite pleased with her work and will definitely return. Hopefully, I'll get her again next time. However, I observed the other students doing a good job on their customers as well. Also that I was in need of a trim. I appreciated them bringing both to my attention. Normally I only let my hair dresser trim but I felt comfortable with Antionette and with the teacher being there as well. She did a great job on my trim. Big before and after difference. She also did a beautiful job on my silk press. My hair was so nice and light afterwards. I highly recommend Empire Beauty School for your basic hair needs.

My children went to school at East Newton for 4 years and it was one of the worst schools I have…read moreever had to deal with. Most of the teachers are great but some are so horrible that I don't even know how they became teachers. The Principal Dr Coady has no back bone at all and lets everyone tell her how they are going to do what they want and how they think she needs to do her job. I have actually told several parents about how bad the school is and before their children were old enough to enroll or as soon as pre-K was over they moved. So many complain but no one does anything. I have even contacted the BOE several times and yet they have never once done anything about any of the problems.

During our cross country road trip in the summer of 2022, we spent one…read moreday taking the scenic route through lesser traveled parts of Georgia, to be all touristy and starstruck at the sight of several filming locations for Stranger Things and The Walking Dead. Patrick Henry high school, reportedly closed, is still all painted up as Hawkins high school. Rumor has it you can get into the gymnasium, walk around a few hallways, and if you're really lucky, maybe even find the chocolate pudding. During our visit, we were not able to do any of these things, as the doors were locked. But we did manage to get a couple of photos, posers that we are, and laughed a little bit that has Southern California natives, who drive by quite literally dozens of filming locations on a daily basis, we were out there like a bunch of fan boys and fan girls. When in Rome, my friends... And when in Georgia, nothing lost but a couple of bucks on gasoline taking the scenic route to a few fun little locations that you've probably seen on TV. After all, state of Georgia has successfully taken millions of dollars Worth of film industries revenues from other traditional filming locations, and rightly so... It's a beautiful place, with a more realistic sense of rules, regulations, and its place in the food chain of existence. It was a long day of back roads from Savannah to Birmingham, via half a dozen different spots... Including Senoia... But a wonderful day spent with the family, Exploring all the nooks and crannies of our amazing country.
