I…read moreremember when they finished building this NEW mall in the early 1990s it killed this smaller mall which I liked. So everyone flocked to this Uber cool mall during the 90s , as did I visiting an arcade in there called Pocket Change. For YEARS I saved all my redemption tickets to get an awesome prize at this arcade. Finally sometime in the late 1990s I brought in my stack of saved tickets to cash in my bonanza . My heart sank as I walked up to Pocket Change to see the neon sign off and the gate closed. It went out of business. And so I have no pity on this now dying mall which killed the older mall...oh, the butter sweet irony. What goes around comes around, it's your turn Bay City Towne Center. No longer the new kid on the block but a hasbeen. And yes, in case you're wondering, I still have those thousands of uncashed Pocket Change game tickets somewhere.

There is very little activity going on in the mall. The one thing they have going for them is that the mall is pretty much full of stores despite the lack of customers. I don't imagine the mall is going to be open in ten years if they don't think of something quick. I think the movie theater will keep it alive for now.

It's a ghost town, unsustainable in its current form. The land is worth more that than the business that occupy it. "Food court" had 2 places to eat, only 1 was open and neither were a popular chain. I remembered it being packed full of people, you'd have to zig and zag to avoid them. Now you have to try really hard just to find someone who isn't working at the "mall". Just visit for morbid curiosity.

Also the lady at the Auntie Anne's said they didn't even serve pepperoni pretzels (the stand was dead and it was the afternoon, which means there was no reason for there to be stock issues and also sums up the mall in general, especially because we went on a Saturday) which makes literally no sense because they had stickers for pepperoni bites on the display. Why would you not be able to stick a couple slices of that pepperoni on a pretzel at the very least? Genesee Valley Mall level garbage except surrounded with stores that are just as bad when it comes to options.

They have all kinds of products from pet goods to furniture to hardware to pantry items. All of the inventory is in good condition and not very close to expiry so it's a good place to check out if you've just moved and need a few specific items to fill your home. Word of warning: checking out can take a while so don't come here if you're in a hurry.

What you aren't paying for is great service, unfortunately. During our visit, we needed a case unlocked to check a price. When we finally were able to find someone to help, she said she'd be right with us. Fifteen minutes later, we were still waiting. And it took another ten minutes of walking the store to find someone else...who made the same promise and then walked away. Finally, the original woman showed up. We waited literally 25 minutes to get a case unlocked! (And yes we debated multiple times about just leaving; we would have if we weren't so interested in the item.) Hopefully this was just a bad day for customer service and they can actually do better. (It was only our second visit, so I don't know how typical it was.)
