I discovered this sushi bar when I was visiting my sister at the hospital. I didn't have high expectations as this clearly was a food bar servicing the hospital staff and able-bodied patients who can shuffle down Mater Hill.
I was amazed at the line up during lunch time but once I tasted their sushi, it was understandable. For a small sushi bar, this place does impressive sushi. The soft shell crab, Californian roll and salmon/ avocado roll were good value and their marinated beef n rice (beef gyudon) was sweetly stewed with the marinade flavouring the rice.
While I was expecting a limited food court range of sushi, there's a huge range of styles here including inari (stuffed tofu pocket), nigiri (ball of rice overlaid with a topping) and sashimi.
All reasonably priced. All delicious.
This sushi bar is worth going to even when you're not affiliated with the Mater hospital. read more
