I have sent three of my children to HOMS (all starting in the toddler room and moving into the 3-6 year old group when they were age appropriate) and we have had a great experience there. I recommend it highly to others, as a wonderful community and a nurturing environment for my children. As toddlers, the school supported everything, from tantrums to potty-training to confidence building and independence around dressing and undressing, etc. Plus my children just loved learning with the toddler teachers, and they really did learn a lot! In preschool, my children came home eager to share about their days and the things they had done, and I love that their learning is so organic and play-based, such that most of the time they don't even realize that the skills they are learning are crucial building blocks to future academic steps. I currently have two children enrolled - one in the Earth class (half day) and one in Moon class (which for him means morning kindergarten and afternoon Earth class). They are thriving, challenged where appropriate and supported where needed in their learning. Kindness is emphasized and the children really learn to be good community members - cooperating rather than competing to finish something first or do it best. When I visited recently, my 5 year old son and a same-age friend of his proudly showed me how they use blocks and beads representing 1000, 100, 10 and 1's units to symbolize the addition of two 4-digit number, including the concept of carrying-over. They didn't use any words I recognized from my own elementary school teaching, but I quickly understood that they were learning by physically manipulating the units and really truly understand the concept behind the math they will learn later on paper (or maybe soon, since my son has declared to me that he LOVES math now). In his kindergarten class, in addition to all the expected kindergarten curriculum, he has learned fun songs and catchy ways to remember important concepts, and delights in sharing with us the humor and fun he has with Ms. Em and Ms. Al during their units. Hands on Montessori changed my child's perspective on learning entirely. The school completely reignited a love for learning that I feared had been permanently damaged in her first years in the traditional school system. I had my concerns transitioning my 3rd grader from a traditional school setting to the Montessori method. Those nerves were quickly settled by the supportive staff at HOMS. They answered every question, and held a nervous parents hand, while helping my child take the skills she learned from her previous school and apply them to the Montessori materials. They observed her, and discovered her strengths and helped build her confidence and excitement about what she is learning. They have helped teach her how to find her voice and advocate for what she needs, whether it be in a social setting or educational. She went from a child, who in previous years, didn't want to attend school, complaining of stomach and head aches, to a kid who would enthusiastically wake up ready to go. Her excitement for learning even went to the extent that she asked me pull over one day after school pickup because she couldn't wait to show me something new she had learned in Math. I cannot say enough good things about this school and the staff. They know each and every family and really see your child for who they are, and support them with such love and kindness day in and day out. Hands-On Montessori School is truly as good as it gets. I'm not sure I could ever truly explain what Hands-On Montessori School has meant to my family and I. The ever-present sense of community, the incredibly loving, patient, nurturing teachers, the cozy classrooms, the dedication to my son's development...these are among some of the most wonderful things about this school. My son, now 5, has been attending Hands-On since he was 2 years old. Hands-On has created a little person who is fiercely passionate about learning and curious about the world around him. Having spent the last 4 years at Hands-On, my son has been able to explore the world of learning through multi-sensory materials at his own pace and in his own time, becoming confident in his abilities and independence. The teachers at Hands-On Montessori School are every parent's dream! From the moment my son started, I felt as though these teachers (and every teacher since) genuinely loved and respected my child. Hands-On Montessori provided our kindergarten age son with a fantastic year. We were so impressed with everything--how the school was run, the curriculum (we especially love the inclusion of peace and arts), the teachers, and the entire approach to learning. Our son absolutely thrived in this environment as it truly focuses on the child learning and exploring on all levels. Miss Em went above and beyond given the incredibly challenging world circumstances, and she made sure every family felt heard and supported while each child received the educational experience they deserved. Miss Al and Miss K are absolutely fantastic guides and fostered a love of learning within our son. The other teachers are also wonderful, and they all interact with the children and families in such a positive way. We were warmly welcomed into the HOMS family almost four years ago. Our daughter attended the toddler program and it was truly one of the best decisions we ever made for her. Three years later she is now enrolled in their kindergarten program and it has been incredibly amazing how much she has grown emotionally and intelligently over these last three years. Our son just became age eligible and we couldn't wait to enroll him into the toddler program. The foundation the toddler program builds for each individual student is unheard of nowadays. He just adores the teachers there. We love how they can't wait to tell us little things he accomplishes day-to-day. We are overjoyed with his progress in such a short period of time. We love HOMS and cannot imagine our children in anyone else's care. I highly recommend this school to anyone! read more

My daughter has attended HOMS for three years; she just recently turned five. Under their tutelage, she has found her artistic flair, learned to read, and developed a strong set of life skills. HOMS has been a fantastic part of our lives for the last three years, and has inspired my little one's confidence, curiosity, and compassion. Instruction features a full array of Montessori materials, a curriculum designed to facilitate self-led learning, and some of the most caring, engaged teachers I have met during the raising of four children. The facility is clean, brightly lit, and features a large outdoor play area that children employ year-round. My biggest regret with respect to HOMS is that we did not find it in time for our first three kids. I can't praise enough, the difference it has made in our youngest's life. read more

HOMS has been amazing for our 3 year old daughter! She has grown so much in her first year. She's become more independent, inquisitive and creative. The teachers are truly passionate and welcome the children with loving and open arms. Working in a mixed age classroom she has learned from the older children and in the years to come she will organically learn to lead as well. The children are not only taught the core curriculum, they learn life skills such as helping in the kitchen, cleaning up and working together. They enjoy outdoor time on a daily basis, welcome special guests and regularly give back to the community. read more

Hands on Montessori is a fantastic school. I brought my granddaughter every day. The trip was a long one but worth it. If you are looking to send your child/ children here please go see for yourself. If anyone gives this school a bad review they are just being vicious. I worked in a Montessori school for 15 years and trust me, if this school did not meet my standards my granddaughter would not be there. My daughter has attended HOMS since before she could fully walk. She is 4.5 and currently in the Pre-K program. She loves to come home and share about the "work" she completed each day and the friends she played with. She's been working hard on the "100s Board" at school and can proudly count from 1-100 without errror. We can't believe it. She is excited to learn and I truly believe she is a natural sponge because she started HOMS at such an early integral age. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The owner and head of this school is selfish, has zero compassion for the children of her community and only in it for profit and to take your money. I will never let my children near her or her school where she claims to care about children and their development. In my opinion, there are plenty of schools in the area where children would be nurtured and developed with kindness and compassion. read more

Incredible school and we are extremely happy with our son's development there. He is in his fourth year and graduating. He has excelled in all areas of development and growth .
