When I intended on buying a harness for my dog she was really helpful I ended up going back with the dog and she showed me how to put it on and made sure it was adjusted and a correct fit. She is always willing to give advice and information. Nothing to to much trouble she helped me choose a dry food and ordered in the size sack I wanted without any problem. She phoned me when the sack arrive. Nothing to to much hasstle. Friendly informative and welcomes pets inside the shop. The store also sells livestock but the shop kepper will only sell to you if you suitable knowledge and are perpared to look after the animal etc. The only negitives i can think of are i found some items were a little more expensive in the shop that in larger pet shops but worth paying more for the advice i recieved.

My friend, on the other hand, has a far higher maintenance pedigree pooch which she sends off to Clare at Shampooch Groomers in Whitchurch fairly regularly. They'll pick up your dog in their adapted van, and their services are council approved. They are well equipped with a workshop space fitted out specifically for the purpose of dog grooming, and they also offer doggie day care and longer home boarding for when owners go on holiday. They can groom to breed standards (for those, unlike me, who have pedigrees) and to your own preferences (for example some people prefer their dogs to keep their feathering, whilst others prefer to remove it to prevent matting!). It costs my friend about £26 for her dog to be bathed, brushed, clipped and have her nails trimmed, and she's always been very happy with the results.

Then to top it all off, a few days later we recieved a letter saying they had got the price wrong, that we owed them £10 and we were to come back and deliver it to them at once! Not recommended, my poor dog has been traumatised for life thanks to the rouigh treatment she received.

It does all the basics of owning a dog from recall to walking nicely on a lead. Once you have done that you can progress to her ongoing training classes, where you pay £50 for eight lessons - if you are away for a week she will let you roll it on if you warn her and ask nicely! Although you can work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards, Jo's classes are often full of silly games and challenges. You will be working your dog at the same time as other people, so it soon gets you to control your dog under very busy and distracting circumstances! Don't worry if you think that might be hard for your dog, she is on hand to help or if you are really worried she does 1:1 training. A keen agility runner herself with her dog Merlin, she has recently set up an agility class on Mondays evenings and Sunday mornings at White Cat Stables near Emersons Green.
