We just had the exterior trim on our two story home painted by this company…read more The owner came to review the work to be done and gave us an estimate of cost and when he would start the work. He called before starting the work to give us a few days notice. He began the work in the time frame that he had quoted us. Once he arrived with his crew, they worked full time until the work was done. They placed drop cloths over deck, porch and even the tall shrubs. There are extensive perennials around the house and they were careful to not destroy any of them. No mess was made anywhere. They painted neatly and fixed areas of soft/damaged wood. The owner also made sure that all of the windows that were painted could be opened before leaving. The price estimate quoted was fair and that is what he charged us. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who asked for a reference and I would hire them again to do other painting as needed. If you hire this company, bring out the crew some ice water on a regular basis. They worked in 90+ temps for three days and needed lots of cold water.

Nathan quoted me a minimum of $1,000 for a days work of putting together a bedside commode, installing a showerhead and moving a light mattress. Yes, there were a couple of other small things, moving a light desk and checking on an adjustable bed. All in all, at most 3 hours work. Nathan gave me long silences between emails. Nathan gave me a completely unreasonable quote of at least $1,000 a day. It is very clear he just doesn't want to travel to Montpelier. It would have been real nice if he had just said NO in the beginning. I've been waiting TWO WEEKS to confirm him and he still never provided the detailed invoice I requested. What was supposed to be a simple two-week job stretched into a three-month ordeal, from Memorial…read moreDay to Labor Day. During that time, Top Notch Roofing caused our home to flood, causing the bedroom ceiling to collapse and requiring full insulation and ceiling replacement. The living room developed two additional leaks due to their shoddy work, which meant more ceiling repairs and repainting the entire open-concept space. Our front yard was left destroyed after equipment and materials sat there for over 90 days. It wasn't just a mess; the material sat there for an entire summer; killing our lawn in the process. The crew was inconsistent at best; often no-shows, with little to no cleanup when they did come. When asked, they said they were from "Lowell"; which we assumed was local (Lowell, VT), but it turned out they were commuting from Lowell, MA. To our house in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Gabe and Drew built porch stairs that weren't up to code. When Dave, the owner, finally came to assess their work, he made them tear it out and rebuild it, but not before we were treated to the comedy gold that was Drew jumping up and down on the steps in an attempt to prove they were "fine." Dave also made everybody clean up the front yard, which took close to two hours between four people (Drew, Gabe, Jessica, Dave). Despite claiming on their website to be "fully insured," we learned that their insurance only covers subcontractors, not their own crew. So any work performed by Gabe or Drew or supervised by them isn't covered. Their own insurance company assessed $86,000 in damages to our home, and those are just the parts they acknowledged. Gabe, the project manager from Top Notch Roofing was the most professional so we chose them to replace our roof in May. Throughout the process Gabe has been great about keeping us informed. Andrew, the foreman is knowledgeable and oversaw a crew of 14 who tore off the old roof and replaced it in one day! The clean up afterwards was thorough around the exterior of the house and driveway.
