This has to be one of the most amazing churches in the RDU area. The experience from beginning to end was top notch. Its churches like New Hope who are leading the way for this new age church. New Hope is such a welcoming atmosphere. I was able to attend church in a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a beannie and NO ONE LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WAS OUT OF PLACE! I was floored. I actually feel as if I fitted right in. I love the multicultural attendance. There is an amazing ratio of nationalities represented at New Hope. The word from the senior pastor was great. He was detailed yet easy to follow. He was engaging yet full of substance. They offer so much! They have a really sweet looking children's church! It looked so cool I wanted to experience it for myself. Just a few tips, get their at least 15 minutes before service time to enjoy the time to mingle. They have a full service starbucks out front and it was pretty packed at the 10:45 service. Also get there early to take advantage of the best parking options. With that being said, give New Hope a try. I look forward to coming back soon!

The church continually strives to be centered on Jesus (rather than around an individual pastor) and motivated by a mission to help people know God, grow together in community, discover their purpose and make a difference. I know a number of individuals who, when they first began to visit and come to King's Park, told me that what stood out to them the most was the warm and welcoming hospitality of the church, the diversity of the church (race, ethnicity, gender, political affiliation, socio-economic status and age), the dynamic worship, the Gospel-centered sermons and the down-to-earth leaders. Service starts at 10 and ends at 11:30. They have coffee and tea in the main entrance lobby and their kid's ministry uses an awesome material called Gospel Project. A big group of college students from UNC, Duke and North Carolina Central attend regularly. No matter one's religious background, whether one grew up in the church or is just checking church out for the first time, all are welcomed to come. The Sunday messages are presented in a way that whether one is not religious, is new to the church, or from another nation, everyone can understand the relevant messages. For the messages, they do both sermon series that go through books of the Bible (last year they went through Genesis) and sermon series cover topics such as relationships, relevance of faith in every day life, and hot topics such as politics, identity and racial reconciliation. The people I know who go to this church come from many different backgrounds- some grew up Christian, others didn't grow up religious and only recently became Christians, and others are undecided but open to finding out more about Jesus and the Bible. The church also has a over 50 different flags of nations represented in the church's makeup! I personally love this multi-ethnic church that seeks to be centered on the Gospel! I would highly recommend King's Park!

I went there from ages 5-18…read more I genuinely had fun up until I had to join the youth group at around 12 or so and they started teaching us insane things. Dinosaurs walked the earth with humans. The earth is only 2,000 years old. Anti-evolution. Divorce is a sin but remarriage after divorce and having another kid is an even worse sin and that said kid would be living in sin from birth(Since this applied to me, I asked what that made me and I was told my family was excused from this and I was just a miracle. Huh? How were we absolved from this so-called sin?) The LGBT are just faking and are rebelling against their parents. Those were were in the LGBT were shamed. I once walked out of a Sunday School class because the video we were watching said black people and white people were separate species. I was also the subject of some 'You have a cat? Are you afraid your mom's gonna feed it to you!?' 'You have weird slant eyes!! open them up more!!' "jokes" from some adults. This church has outdated, conservative ideas while acting like they were progressive. If I could split the rating up, I genuinely did have a fun and good time up until I was around 12 - I liked the sunday school teachers, summer faith adventure, the christmas parties, and other events they had for kids. After I joined Youth Group, though, it was about 6 years of homophobic, elitist, conservative, uncomfortable teachings. If you are not white, you will be subjected to prejudice. If I had joined the church after the age of 12, I would be giving it only 1 star rather than 3. The 3 stars are for the lovely sunday school teachers I had as a kid.

The worship leader (also the pastor) is extremely talented and the drummer is out of this world. The people are friendly and the service enjoyable. The theology, however, is considerably conservative, and despite lip-service to accepting various opinions, different views are not especially welcome. The policy towards the LGBT community is basically "to make them so uncomfortable that they would just leave". The middle and high school youth are being exposed to such things as "dinosaurs walked on earth with people". Others have experienced issues of racial slights and prejudice. If you are a conservative looking for a contemporary church home, this is a fantastic place. If you are progressive in any way, you won't feel comfortable here for long.
