My family and I were able to add a family member a couple years ago from Happy Cat Cafe. Walter :) my cat nephew. The drinks are really good and the little fur babies are always so adorable and lovable. The only reason why I gave them a 4/5 stars was because when I go in and see the fur babies they're a little nervous. There is a sign that guests are not allowed to pick them up outside of the room but I still see people picking up the fur babies so that's my only concern. That there isn't someone there monitoring if guest follow the rules so that the fur babies are comfortable. But I know it's hard because there might not be someone available to volunteer. read more

The coffee was delicious, all of the cats were so sweet! There was a little girl that got there after our time started and she was chasing the cats around so they were a little scared after that. As a general rule, I love cats. More than anything else. I also love coffee. Not more than anything else, like I do cats, but enough. Just those reasons would be enough to give this cafe a good rating in my book, but there is even more to love. I would come here daily, if not for the almost three hour drive. The service is good, and the cats are great. It may take a little while, but one of the cats will become your buddy. For example, I bonded with a little black kitten named truffle. I could not take him home, as my cat is quite a loner, and there is the drive, but I loved him. The cat room is quiet. That was surprising as it is often busy. I would strongly recommend getting a reservation. Walk ins are allowed, and I have done it before, but it is truly a good idea, if you wish to get in. The coffee is good, and the cats are amazing. Even if there is a few hours of travel, Happy Cat Cafe is truly worth it. read more

Disappointed in the service. Came her on a whim with my 2 year old and 9 month year old. I walked in without a reservation, and they wouldn't let my 2 year old in to see the cats. On the site, it says walk ins are aloud, and they allow ten people in the cat room at a time. There were about 4 people in the cat room. That's not ten people. We should have been allowed in. I drove 30 min to get here, and my daughter was super excited. Now, I am leaving with a sad daughter because they decided not to let her go in. THERE WAS NOT TEN PEOPLE IN THE ROOM! read more

My boyfriend and I booked an hour and only stayed 25-30 minutes. In the first minute we walked in he got scratched and hissed at just trying to pet a cat. Due to the other people in the room we weren't able to pet other cats for a majority of the time. When some other cats came up to us they weren't friendly. One was meowing in a very strange way and others wouldn't let us even pet them. We were able to play with some using the toys but we didn't feel comfortable petting any of them. This place was a little different then I was expecting. I've seen other cat cafes where they lounge around the cafe while you have some coffee, but this place is different, you go into a small room with like 8-10 other people with like 5 cats that really want nothing to do with you. There was one really sweet older cat that was interacting with us, but there are signs all over advising if the cats are sleeping to not touch them. Well they were all pretty much sleeping. Then you add on the fact that people bring their small children in there and let them terrorize the place.... Overall it was a good thing to say we tried and the coffee was good but I think we would try a different cat cafe next time. read more

I was so impressed with this place! Who does love snuggling kittens, right, buuuut this was not my first choice of activity. I went because a friend wanted to, and it ended up being my favorite part of our mini vacation. First of all, it was much more clean than I anticipated. They section the cafe off from the kitten area, and both are immaculate. Secondly, KITTENS! There were so many and, at least the time we went, they were super social and playful. The price for a beverage (of which there were quite a selection - I got the vanilla chai) and half and hour with the cats is really, really fair. Just tag an extra dollar or two to your normal Starbucks bill. I love that they work with the Humane Society. Cannot recommend this place enough! One suggestion might be that I wish one or two less people had been in the room for our section of time. read more

Came in yesterday and had the chance to play with some very sweet cats! My boyfriend and I enjoyed the first half of our hour without anyone else there but after that, it got a bit busy and the cats seemed a little overwhelmed. Unfortunately, some of the cats didn't get along and started fighting which wasn't the best but they eventually calmed down. There were about 12 cats in the lounge when we visited and I feel like there was a cat for everyone's liking. There were snuggly cats, sleepy cats, playful cats, diva cats... The decor is ADORABLE!!! You get a free hot or cold beverage with your reservation and a free snack if you check in on social media. The woman behind the counter (I assume maybe the owner?) was very welcoming & friendly. It was nice. We had fun playing with the cats, and it was exceptionally clean. The "cafe" aspect of it is not impressive, and I feel like they could increase the perception of value by adding hot water and some nicer teas and maybe pour over or French press coffee with fresh cream; to me those are relatively cheap additions to their repertoire that would make a difference. Ditching the prepackaged snacks for some Costco muffins and baked goods, too. $7 for half an hour, $10 for an hour is a tad expensive but I like that they are providing a nice home for shelter cats and socializing them further. They have also placed 50 cats since they opened. For me, that's worth $7-10 and I get to have some fun too! They also have tons of cat related accessories, painting and clothing which are cute and not too terribly overpriced. read more

If you need a milk alternative I would suggest bringing your own because there wasn't one available. But they just opened yesterday so cut them some slack. There's logo merchandise you can buy. Grand Rapids first cat cafe has been a long time coming but has been worth the wait! Working with Carrol's Ferral's, a local non profit cat rescue group, Happy Cat has healthy, friendly, spayed/neutered cats available to play with, with the hope that you fall in love and adopt one. The large cat room usually has between 8-12 cats that freely roam the table, chairs, benches and cat towers. You can come in and play with them, or simply read on your own, while they walk and sit around you. The cafe has an assortment of snacks and nonalcoholic drinks available for purchase for your visit. The cafe offers a lot of different events too, including cat yoga, which the cats walk around you while you do yoga, and, cat painting, where - you guessed it- cats hang out with you while you paint. It's a neat way to spend an afternoon and hopefully find a new friend to bring home! read more

This company is not to be trusted. Not only is it a far cry from the Japanese cat cafe culture they aimed to emulate, but they are outright liars. For starters, they spoke poorly about the company they used to get their cats from, Carol's Ferals, on Facebook no less. This shows utter unprofessionalism from the owner. Then, here is the worst part, they lied about their cat's being vaccinated. My friend's kitten just went to the vet and has had worms from day 1 and a form ready as soon as he said he got the cat from Happy Cat Cafe and said they see a lot of unvaccinated cats from there. This is a poor excuse of a business. Do not support these scam artists even under the guise of helping a kitten. read more

This cat is a perrrrrfect place for cat lovers!!!! My boyfriend and I went here for a date because I love cats and it was just amazing! The staff was very helpful and nice, had a whole bunch of information on everything about the cats and where they came from. The cats were very tired today and were very sleepy but that was okay! They had toys for you to play with the kitty's and combs for brushing the kitty's. The price for actually going in were not bad at all. I liked how a free beverage was included with your purchase the coffee was okay, and the pop was off brands kind. The t-shirts are kind of expensive $20 for white T-shirt and $25 for the black, I bought one because I figured all of the proceeds go towards the kitty's. I also bought a coffee mug that was $10, and it was very cute as well as a $5 coin purse and a lady threw in a free sticker! Only thing that I wish was better was maybe just clean up the hair a little bit! Just a really nice place, you can adopt the kitty's and they have adopted over 70 cats! Would definitely recommend! Just maybe bring a lint roller! But they do need to remove the sticker on the bottom of their mugs, the sticker that says "Distributed by Five Below Merchandising Inc." read more
