So after browsing Groupon looking for something to do with my youngest one morning, I ended up purchasing one for Kzoo Cat Cafe. We aren't really "cat people", but because of my husbands allergies my sons are really interested in cats. First off, I didn't read the fine print and the first time I tried to go here I realized it's only open from 6:00-9:00 pm. Well that wasn't helpful for me who wanted to go before (afternoon) preschool! Then I looked again and the Groupon I bought was only valid Mon-Thurs. so now it's winter break, I have both kids that want to go, and it expires on Jan 6... bummer! So I buy another Groupon for 2 and invite my cat-loving neighbor and we make a night out of it. It's hard for me to give 3 vs 4 stars for this. From a non-car persons viewpoint, it was so full of cats and people and toys everywhere and then there's a Keurig and snack bags for your enjoyment. What?? Plus I think it's like $12 a person to get in normally!! Who pays that to go sit and pet cats? Well obv a ton of people because the place was packed!! They said it was the most full they'd seen it in a while. Also this is a rescue and adoption facility so people can come back and adopt a cat after they've played with it for a while the first day. People were sitting all over the place, on the floor, on the ripped up couch, on the few chairs that were there, etc. and the cats were everywhere too! Most of the cats were very nice and my sons did love to play with them. Not sure we'd go back, or if it was worth the $24 for 4 people I paid. But I guess a fun activity to try out once. read more

I unfortunately had to relinquish a kitten I adopted 4 days after adopting her because (unbeknownst to me) she had feline panleukopenia (very contagious and possibly fatal virus (to cats and kittens) and I (being currently unemployed) had no choice but to find somewhere that could take her and care for her for free so that I could save her life. After a month of ongoing updates via texts as well as pictures of my poor kitten who appeared to be looking better, I asked if it would be possible for me to pick her back up at some point and received the responses I attached in the below screenshots. Although they tell you that they welcome walk-ins on the weekends, don't believe a word of it. We traveled down from Rockford to Kalamazoo last Saturday during their "Open" hours. When we pulled in, their Open sign was lit and when we discovered the door was locked, we saw a note on the door to ring the bell. Despite us seeing the lights on and people walking around, they ignored the bell. Then we knocked and finally a young lady came to the door. She informed us they were closed to walk ins and and didn't care if we had driven over an hour. There was no way we could have called to make an appointment because they don't provide a phone call on their website. If you want to adopt a cat, I would highly recommend that you do NOT go to KAZOO CAT CAFE. read more

"Cafe" might be an overstatement as the drinks are from a keurig, but this place is awesome if you're coming for the cats. There are a ton of cats, and almost all of them are super friendly. There is an admission charge ($12 for adults and $7 for under 18s). Think of it as a zoo admission where you get to play with the animals. Pretty good deal :) Also, when you think about the money going to help these awesome cats find their forever homes, and drinks and snacks are free, it's more than worth it! Never actually went to the brick and mortar. I contacted one place (business claims they are not affiliated) they contacted Abbey and she told them for me to text her (phones are not allowed apparently). I was contacting her because a cat that I took him was pregnant, all of the sudden the babies started dying. I was trying to get information from her in what to do. Let me tell you, Abbey was an absolute disgrace. She claims she loves cats and kittens. She doesn't. Asking for help from her was the issue. Never googled anything about her business. Just immediately texted her. Feral kitten syndrome from my understanding is irreversible. So the situation was inevitable but I still had to try. I wrote a review about Abbey because of her own ignorance. She offered zero advice but what she did do was make a Facebook post about my situation. Lying about the actual facts. I posted the chat and defended myself, which she blocked me. But the judgment people gave. I actually regret taking in a cat that wasn't mine to begin with. So no, I can't afford a vet. She would have made fun of my job or anything else because she clearly does that in her review response. But I did find a friend or follower of hers saying she's reported in the negative reviews and made her own post. Seriously the lady is applauding a fake review! She could have said she can't help, she could have told the other lady she couldn't help but Abbey has this God complex. She's right and your wrong. So I took her to the vet,she told me she had had it for some time,and Immediately put her on antibiotics. Pretty bad experience with this place. My kid fell in love with a particular cat and we kept getting the runaround on adopting her--the owner said we had to adopt another kitten with her--which we were not informed of while we were there, otherwise we would've looked at older cats or prepared for two kittens right out the gate. We were communicative about our willingness to do whatever was needed to adopt this cat; meanwhile, someone else adopted her. (Kid is crushed.) I said in the future, it would be nice to inform people when they're at the Cafe that the kittens can't be adopted out by themselves, you need to adopt two or have a kitten (not an older cat) at home already. Well I left severely disappointed. The volunteer who greeted us was really rude it kind of ruined the tone of our visit. The place is super small with lots of cats, so the smell is horrendous but I guess that's to be expected. I had my heart set on adopting and the volunteer yet again coldly let me down, didn't answer any of my questions and left me feeling like I was dumb for trying to adopt a cat. My boyfriend and I were separately adopting cats. My application had an issue with my vet records and I received a call to notify me of this and ask if there was more up to date information My boyfriend had a similar issue. Though his pet records were lost with the closing of the pet clinic to COVID-19, he and his family have made many vet visits since then that show they are up to date on things. His vet clinic released incorrect material that is an EASY solve. We already have the correct records that show this was a mistake. But my boyfriend already received his rejection email and abbey did not care to try and resolve this. read more

They are very unreasonable and are poor at communicating. A roommate was behind on rabies vaccine for her dog but instead of letting us know, they simply moved on to another application for the cat. We had to reach out to them for an update. They could of at least let us know that we were not approved. Then after we let them know the roommate was taking the dog in to get the vaccine taken care of, that's when they told us. read more

I bought certificates on Groupon for my cat loving S.O., and we had a great time. The cats were so sweet, the staff was great and it was such a calm and relaxing experience. They serve coffee, tea and snacks. But the best were the awesome cats and if you are looking to adopt or just spend a couple hours with fur babies, I highly recommend visiting. read more

Zero stars. I give this rating specifically because of the owner/director Abbey Thompson. This woman is unnecessarily condescending, belittling, rude, and confrontational. All you have to do is read the negative reviews. That are ALL specifically about her and her attitude/the way she treats people. Just read her responses on these reviews. That will tell you everything that you need to know about her. You can decide if you want to support/adopt from this kind of despicable human. All of the other rescues don't charge you to go, are less than half the price on adoptions and most importantly are run by caring and compassionate people who will treat you with kindness and respect. I assure you that you will not get this from the owner/director of Kzoo cat cafe. This woman should not have a business in which she interacts with people in any way. I have spoken to many people in the last few days who know Abbey or have had interactions with her. Not a single person could give me one experience that showed kindness or respect. My first word of advice is to look at the bad reviews first. There's even some 4 and 5 star reviews too that even mention how unprofessional Abbey the owner is. Her responses to negative removes and anything negative are extremely childish and unprofessional. The first concern I have is how horrible smelling this place is and dirty it is during our first visit. We've been to a cat cafe rescue in Fort Wayne, IN and another one here in Michigan and neither of those could you even smell a hint of urine or feces. So there's no reason for this place to smell as awful as it did. Made the 3 of us feel bad for the cats honestly. Next I'll move on to the issues with Abbey. My wife addressed some concerns with her regarding a cat that we adopted. Abbey immediately got defensive, unprofessional, and then even in an email tried to insinuate that my wife maybe be "abusing" or "yelling" at the cat we adopted all because my wife had enough of her rude comments on the phone and my wife decided to be unprofessional just like Abbey. After my wife said there wasn't anything more to say Abbey continued to blow up my wife's phone. Called a total of 13 times in a very short amount of time. Only a few times my wife answered some of those. So between the phone calls, texts, and a few emails we have from Abbey it clearly shows she's far from a responsible, respectful, tactful, and professional business owner. My father in law owns a cyber security company and another family owner owns a very busy restaurant. So I've seen enough to know how one should treat customers whether you agree with them or not. And how to be more tactful with customers that are getting irritated. Abbey clearly doesn't know what it takes to run a small business properly. Just her responses to some reviews on here are enough to prove that. I truly hope a new owner takes over for her and also helps get this place cleaned up and smelling better. I refuse to do any kind of business that displays disrespect towards kids like she did with us as well as make false accusations along with everything else she did wrong. read more

This cat cafe was so much fun. The woman working was great at answering questions and interactive with everyone. You get 2 hours of cat visiting time with your admission. There were more cats than people which is ideal for customers. All the cats have different personalities so you'll find one right for you. read more

Love this place! Lots of cats to pet and hang out with. If you sit on a couch there's a big chance one will come sit in your lap:) I adopted a cat from here and he is amazing. I love that you can visit a few times and find a cat who is a good fit for you. There is every type of personality- playful, cuddly, chill, silly- it's perfect. The cat I adopted was a scaredy cat who was usually hiding but he always came out for pets from me and it was love. Adoption form was super easy to fill out and the owner was responsive to all my questions. Also it's a non-profit so the entry fee goes towards taking care of the kitties~ read more

Love the cats so much along with the food to snack on! I don't understand why the cats cannot be picked up but I've only been a dog owner so I'm sure there's a valid reason behind it! Unfortunately we had a horrible experience with this rescue. The woman was rude and seemed upset we were visiting at the end of her night, like we were bothering her. I mean it's $30 for two people. Came from Grand Rapids after work so it took an hour to get there. We were blacklisted from the beginning because our cat who is 12 had his front claws removed. 12 years ago. Not recently and not by us, my aunt had a stroke and is now in a nursing home. We adopted her cat and she is unknown of his vet. I applied and was denied because My cat has his front claws removed and I was educated about the horror of removing cats claws. Again, didn't do it and would never do it in the future. My brother also tried to apply and he was rejected because we were not aware of Leo's vet. He was recently seen in the community, they want two years of proof, we haven't had him 2 years. They have 40 cats but don't even seem to want to get rid of them!! We really found a sweet girl that would be a perfect match for my cat. She is 8 years old, she is now a prime cat everyone wants, we just wanted her, but again since our cat lost his nails 12 years ago, we were blacklisted. We drove an hour both ways to visit on a work night, we were very interested and dedicated to adopting a cat. read more

I have never paid to go to an establishment and felt like I inconvenienced someone so much by being there. Wow. I went there with my daughter to see how she would react to a pet cat and after being there for five minutes, I realized I wanted nothing to do with adopting a cat from this lady. She gave me a huge attitude because I left the bathroom door open (there was no sign) like I knew the cats liked the bathroom? Then one of the cats came up to me so I started to pet him.... Or her as I later found out as she so very politely corrected me, and the cat hissed and then clawed my hand. Then was stuck.... With a claw in my hand staring at this hissing cat as she's yelling at me that "SHE DOESNT WANT TO BE PETTED!". Yes I get that but she's currently got her claw in my skin and I can't do much. She never looked up from her computer, I even tried to talk to her about how she comes to get her cats and she was snarky about that because apparently I'm a moron for thinking she worked with the humane society. I'm so glad we have a cat cafe in Kalamazoo! Many of the cats were friendly and willing to let you pet them. The staff was nice and answered all of my annoying questions. I wish the cafe was more of a cafe though, the basically just have a Keurig. Still worth it. read more
