The general manager was our tour guide... he was one of the friendliest and knowledgeable people I've ever met! The stadium and team are rich with history, even down to the bricks they used to erect the entrance to the field. Dave was our bus driver and tour guide for the night. After the stadium tour he took us to Bent Paddle where we were able to samples some brews and enjoy the atmosphere, what a cool place! Their beers are outstanding! The 14 degrees ESB is a GABF (Great American Beer Festival) winner! I would highly recommend trying it. There's an awesome BBQ joint that will deliver to the tasting room too! We ended the night back at the stadium with a Huskies' baseball game. The won in walkoff fashion! It was a great game! We are looking foreword to another tour. I was in Duluth for my brother's wedding and didn't know anything about the city or the area. I was with my then-boyfriend and we knew it was a beautiful area, but wasn't sure the best way to experience it all. That is when I booked us on the Scenic North Shore Bicycle Tour. It was by far the best thing we did in Duluth (minus watching my brother get married,ha) and we were raving about it to all the weddings guests all weekend. The guys running the show were great to talk to and they clearly thought of everything. If you are traveling to Duluth and want to really have the best tour guides, book with them.

North Woods Adventures was amazing!!…read more My bridesmaids hired them for my bachelorette party. They picked us up at my home at, and took us to the local bars in the Lake Vermilion area. The guide, as well.as the drivers were fun, and they always made sure everyone got back on the bus. We were able to drink in the vehicle in between stops, listened to music, and it was summer so the whole thing was open-air. Awesome all around. At the end of the night (bar close), they brought us back to my place. The guide also took photos and will be putting them on a cd for us. All around a fantastic time!

Instead of going to or into the lighthouse itself, I used my state park pass to go into the state park and get a view of it. Because my motto is: you want a picture of the famous thing, not in the famous thing! This goes for the Eiffel Tower and pretty much any famous landmark. After parking in a spacious parking lot practically empty and walking a short distance, I got to the beach where there was an awesome view of the lighthouse. I walked a bit further to get closer, and every view was breathtaking! A must see when visiting the North Shore.

During the Minnesota and Canada fires, we wanted to get out of the smoke. It was also a heatwave at…read morethat time. The air down in the mines is filtered through all that stone and is about fifty degrees year round!!!! We breathed clean air and we were able to get out of the heat for awhile. Nice! We booked online to make sure we got the time slot we wanted. Apple Maps got us there correctly. There is ample parking and a side lot for overflow as needed. There were quite a few people already there! The park itself is free. You can walk around and learn on your own. They have a small shop selling gorgeous mineral stones and cookbooks and t shirts etc. There's a public restroom inside that is clean, separate men and women with multiple stalls. We perused the whole building and then sat in the meeting room, waiting for the video presentation. Then as a group we donned construction style hats and headed for the mine elevator. They have some cubbies for your belongings- hats and sunglasses etc which you won't need down there. The staff were super nice. Apparently one woman did not bring a jacket so the staff member lent her their jacket! It is quite chilly underground. The staff were also willing to take pictures of us and other families when asked. Only one person had a hard time with the elevator. It is noisy and a tight squeeze for 10-11 people and there are times when it is completely dark inside. At the bottom, we waited for everyone to get off the elevator and we boarded a little train. That train took us to the mine shaft where we followed our guide up some stairs. There is an elevator for accessibility needs. We spent time looking and learning and then took the train back to the elevator. They have quite the safety protocol to ensure no one gets hurt and that the elevator up and down is coordinated with people above and below ground. I really enjoyed walking the grounds outside and seeing the machine shop and the drill bits etc. There are some signs where you can read about the different carts and what not. The mountain views were limited by the smoke but I imagine it's nice on a clear day. Tickets are reasonable. I would recommend this tour if you're in the area and looking to get away from the heat or cold and breathe some fresh air! It's a great way to learn about history and iron mining. If you don't care about a specific tour time and don't mind a little risk, you can save a dollar by going there and getting tickets at the box office on the day of. Also- There are no longer any bats or energy beam? research going on here. Just microbial research. That's some old stuff that used to be there.

The dogs are well cared for and the sound of the kennel as the team readies to pull out can't be duplicated. The experience of taking your own team of dogs out on the trail was one we all enjoyed and won't forget. As a lover of dogs, I found the experience of being part of the team with these dogs of all sizes and ages to be inspiring. Seeing it on TV doesn't measure up to the real deal.

We took an amazing tour with Merritt, who shared so much history of the lake - I wish I would have even taken notes! We hiked through Voyageurs National Park - trail views were spectacular, saw many hidden gems, and stopped at the historic Kettle Falls. My 2 previous to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (in NE Minnesota along the Ontario border) were…read moreback in High School (early 1970s) as part of a church group (Cristo Canoe) and then a repeat adventure the next year with just a few friends. Some "fond" memories stick, like being flooded out the first night after a portage from hell on the first day. Since then over all these years, I've had a hankering to hit the water again and revisit nearby Ely. My friends Jeff, Bird, and Gator have been back since, and over the last couple years, we've been talking about returning as a group to the BWCA. We were scheduled for September 2021, but area fires and a few personal situations necessitated a delay. But this September was time for me and 3 great high school classmates to get together and paddle. Gayle thought it was a great idea, but with some humor: Four 66-year old men canoeing out into the wilderness - What could go wrong? Actually, everything went well, and despite 1st day anxiety all around on whether we were cut out for a trip like this at our age. We were out in the BWCA for 5 nights and 6 days, with great fall weather except for one windy morning and a light rainy day. We all got along very well, except for some snoring situations in our shared (2 per) tents, and making the mistake of talking politics one evening. After almost 50 years out of High School and irregularly staying in touch, it was easy to pick up where we left off and have a great meaningful time together. We also wisely decided to hire a professional outfitter (and guide) for our adventure. This way we didn't get lost, equipment (Kevlar canoes, tents, sleeping bags, etc.) were provided, we ate well, we snagged great camp sites, great stories were told, portages were relatively short, and fishing went well. And the scenery! Wow! For all that (and more), we had Moose Track Adventures to thank, particularly the owners (Jim and Joan) and Dan, our intrepid guide. What a great guy! Bird had used Moose Track before and I can understand why folks that have used them come back. Their reasonably priced professional expertise, facilities, and equipment are worth every safety-infused cent. Our field package (see above) also included cabin lodging the night before we hit the water, prior menu selection, transponder tracking (including an emergency button) during our journey, and a sandwich and beer waiting for us when we got out of the water at the end. Dan also provided information from an App showing where we'd been within the BWCA. I was also able to purchase a paper map at Moose Track HQ. At the end, Gator headed off to the Airport, while Jeff, Bird, and I travelled down to Duluth for a hot shower, a celebratory dinner together, and a good night's sleep. It was a stellar trip to remember, that I'd be open to repeating. And if and when we do, we'll be working with Moose Track Adventures.

I'm here for work but during the downtime I want to do something fun and doing a Segway tour was something I've never done before. The training before hand was absolutely necessary and beneficial. No skimping on this tour, they took care of all of us from start to finish. I am the proud owner of my Segway license! If you're in Duluth this is the thing to do. You can bet every person we passed along the way was a little envious.
