THIS CHURCH SAVED MY LIFE…read more Growing up, I'd go to this church with my family on special occasions, and honestly, I'd dread it and never really pay attention. When Pastor Chet started, everything changed. His energy, humor, and the way he shared God's message made it impossible for my mind to drift elsewhere. Five years ago, I went through the darkest chapter of my life. I was struggling with ongoing depression, crippling anxiety, and constant nightmares. During one service, my anxiety was overwhelming, so I closed my eyes and prayed for peace. That happened to be the day Pastor Chet invited anyone who wanted to surrender their life to Jesus to come to the front for prayer. What I experienced during that prayer is something that's hard to put into words, but it's what made me certain that Jesus is real. Not long after, I got baptized. My nightmares disappeared, my relationships began to heal, and the darkness and fear that had weighed so heavily on me no longer had the same hold on my life. I'll never be able to fully express how grateful I am for this church and for everything God has done in my life. Forever thankful.

I watched about 3 sermons online about Galatians and went to visit Sunday at 8:30. It was easy to get in and we were greeted and ushered. Worship was fine but I didn't know the songs so I spent a lot of time reading the lyrics. The sermon is the most important part of a church service to me, and I found the pastor's sermon on Judging not Lest ye be Judged to be subtle and good. I had many questions, because in that same sermon he told the congregation not to model ourselves after hollywood marriages, that children shouldn't be asked what they want to eat for dinner at the grocery store (rather the parent should lead), and talked about not throwing your pearls before swine, so discernment and judgment ate different. Overall an interesting topic! Left me with a lot of questions though. I think a church can never be 4 or 5 stars until it's very clear how to plug in to activities and it's clear that new attendees are welcome. The announcements section that Sunday didn't have an invitation that I remember to plug into any new attendee events. A simple "raise your hand if this is your first time here" or something like that would be recommendable in my opinion. Looking forward to coming back! Thank you for opening your doors to the community! I like that there is a meeting at The Enclave as well. I think moving the Food Truck Fellowship event from Calvary Life to The Enclave might help bring in new attendees.

There is a 9:15am class on Sunday where you can learn more about what the church believes and the Cardinal doctrine. If you do miss Sunday you can watch live from their Instagram or Facebook @thewaythechurch It isn't a all day church. Sunday's from 9:50am-11:30am. The church family is fantastic, people are incredibly friendly and the messages relevant. Some have commented about it being weird that the sermon is broadcast on a screen and that can be done at home and while technically true, you definitely do not get the sense of community that you do when visiting a campus... and especially this campus. I've never been to another place where one feels so wanted and welcome, as here. The pastoral staff is fantastic, the worship is great, the other members are welcoming -- it's just a great place to be. If you're even considering the notion of coming to church, you'll feel welcome here. We're proud to express that we don't have it all together and that we're all still figuring things out. While watching the sermon on the screen may not be traditional, you'll quickly look past that once you realize that it's the relationships which will draw you back. Located on the corner of W. Carson St and adjacent to Manuel Ave, this church is conveniently located in a quieter part of Torrance and only a block away from Torrance High School. I arrived here during the afternoon of Friday 7/26/2024 at around 3:50pm. Since I did not come here to pray or worship, it was actually for a Celebration of Life funeral services for my cousin that sadly passed away two weeks prior and had lived in this area nearly her whole life. There is a dedicated parking lot that is adjacent to the church and if that is filled up, there are plenty of spaces that go into the residential areas. I will say that the church itself is beautifully decorated with ample seating that can accommodate up to a few hundred guests. The high pillars and natural light make this a truly wonderful environment while services can be rewarding to everyone attending. I did want to add that there are several restrooms that are conveniently located. But the real treat is that this church has a full-on kitchen, banquet area, and very large formal dining area which is ideal for the type of service during my visit. Finally, the pastors and staff did an amazing job catering us to a nice meal following the funeral service. All in all, "First Baptist Church of Torrance" is a well-run and flawless church that went above and beyond for each and every single one of us. If you are in the area and wish to attend their services, I highly recommend it. And the headline of their website says "Love God. Love People. Teach Others to do the Same" which sums it all up. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Excellent teachings from church rockstar Daniel Marion and his wonderful wife Jenny. His teachings have changed me for the better and I know that if it wasn't for my family here, I'd probably not be alive today writing this review about how fulfilling the word of God is, how His son continues to teach me how to live a better more Christian life by following in his footsteps, and how powerful God's love is for us and how powerful God's love is through us.
