While I will not try to convince otherwise someone for whom a 12 step program works in restoring a healthy and meaningful existence, this approach is not for everyone. Some balk at the requirements, both real and perceived, of a 12 step program and never get past the door. Others make extended, sincere efforts to engage but find themselves unable to make lasting progress within the 12 steps. For individuals in this situation, the near universally held belief that ______ Anonymous groups are the only path to recovery can be crushingly demoralizing. The thought may arise, "If this path is the only hope then perhaps for me there is no hope." I found myself in this devastated situation having engaged the 12 steps through sincere and extended efforts but no closer to lasting sobriety that allowed me to live life healthfully as I chose and without harming those I love. Extended efforts to find another path thankfully led me to Centered Recovery. In talking with Reed before intake, I became hopeful for the first time in years that I could conquer my addiction. Further, I understood that the program would not focus on putting one's trust in an external power but rather in recognizing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and through understanding oneself achieving a state of greater control. The gift of Centered Recovery comes in learning that recovery can be built from within by understanding thoughts and emotions are not you. A thought to drink or use, no matter how deviously clever, or an emotion, regardless of how cripplingly powerful, need not govern one's actions or alter one's equanimity. Our society reinforces a belief that thoughts and emotions are the essence of who we are and predetermine how we will act in the world. Centered has taught me a different way of understanding that frees me from destructive cycles of action that I had come to think inevitable. Learning through the lens of Centered, a person is exposed to a view of the self and our actions in the world that is shockingly simple. The baseline perspective is indeed so uncomplicated that it can be hard to digest. From the beginning, I began to sense the program was providing structure to understanding of the self and my actions that I intuitively knew as a child but let go of under the influence of societal teachings and my own thought and emotion heavy path in adulthood. I was reminded of what I had known and given a framework to consider and discuss it. Consistently, I have observed at Centered clients struggling to grasp the message but over time having it click in their understanding. Not only does this allow cessation of harmful substance use but often bears other beautiful gifts such as the removal of painful burdens such as anxiety, anger, resentment, paranoia, and other psychological pain. Clients report resolution of problem behaviors, mental health difficulties, and frustrations in their lives that seem not directly related to addiction and that they had no hope would be addressed when they first walked through the door at Centered Recovery. Such transformation would be beneficial for many in our society even without issues of substance abuse. However, it is often only reaching a rock bottom that opens the mind to the need for change. A further gift in this approach to sobriety and heightened equanimity is that it does not require daily struggle to maintain. The understanding is both simple and profound and once internalized universally applicable in living a healthier life.

The case managers and the educational staff were amazing, caring people who helped me with coping tools, creating boundaries, things to do to keep depression and anxiety away, etc. I went to the day programs for about 6 weeks, and I've been active in their support groups and volunteering ever since. Going back to Ridgeview campus is a great feeling for me; I have met the most amazing support network there in the 12-step groups. Definitely helped me cope with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and more.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! All of these reviews let me know we are not alone. I have never written a yelp…read morereview before but this was so bad, that I feel like it's necessary. Most of the staff were rude and the very few that did care were overworked. Ridgeview made everything worse and I had to nurse my wife back to health upon release. Due to one of the 3 attacks she experienced, we are now drowning in hospital bills and had to replace dentures (6 grand). Taking her to Ridgeview was one of the worst mistakes ever. Back in February, my wife went here due to mania/hypomania caused by a new antidepressant her psychiatrist gave her. On her first day, she was attacked (the first time out of 3) and taken to the ER. During the attack (punched in the face), she was knocked out, and her brand new implant dentures were knocked out. She was attacked at 11am and they got her to the hospital so late, she had to stay the night. I thought it would be going on their insurance but we started receiving bills a month later. The staff member who called me to tell me about the attack was completely rude. When I asked what happened she screamed at me, saying "I just told you, she was attacked!!" I asked her "how did it transpire" and she then got frustrated not knowing what the word "transpire" means. I was then told when she gets back from the hospital they're gonna move her out of that unit, the ICU. She got back the next day and they didn't move her and she got attacked again (punched in the face repeatedly by another patient, yet again) . While she was at the hospital. I got a call from the nurse practitioner for the psychiatrist there. He told me they had no record of my wife's medications. I told him to contact her psychiatrist, made sure he had the number, and then spent the next week telling anybody who would listen to contact her psychiatrist. No one ever did. After 7-10 days, I was wondering why she wasn't getting better. While there, she was getting noticeably worse. Once released, I found out that they were not only giving her the medication that she had the reaction to but had upped it five times the amount she was taking before going there. On top of that, they were also giving her a very large dose of Depakote. That was to sedating her so much, she was falling asleep in chairs. That med was only hiding the mania. When I looked up the medicine it said do not take if you have "liver or pancreas issues." I was appalled they were giving her that since my wife has had pancreatitis multiple times in the past 10 years and they were all well aware of that. It could've killed her. She was released on a Monday and they told us she had an appointment with her psychiatrist, the next Monday at 1:30. After a few days, I called the psychiatrist office to see if we could get an emergency visit because of the worries with the medicines. That's when I learned there wasn't an appointment even made. Whichever Ridgeview employee wrote down the date and time for the appointment completely made it up. Now, just like when she was there, I can not get in touch with anyone. We have all these hospital bills from them not keeping her safe. I have contacted the patient advocate multiple times and wrote an email but have not heard anything back. From reading the newer reviews, she probably has her hands full. The incompetence with this place was so over the top, I'm shocked it is open. Needs to be shut down. A person looking for help, shouldn't be coming out mentally, physically, and financially worse.

When I get here it's a whole mess they were renovating the lodges and making the woman do so much work and having us run all over the place. Then we finally get settled and the whole structure of the sober living has changed woman on one side the men on the other no Co-Ed groups which is not a big deal till your sitting in the same room with the same people and not having multiple groups to pick from, so I've completely gone into a depressive state to where I do not want to go to meetings or get up out of my bed anymore. And you would think since that's happening someone like your therapist would come and check on you and see what we could do about it. But no... instead I over hear a conversation with Sam (my freaking therapist) and another worker that works here (but she's been great don't want to include her) on speaker phone as I'm waiting to get my discharge papers signed. So I over hear the conversation where she is completely trashing some woman from my process group including myself. Mind you I already have bad trust issues and I don't really talk much because of it. I don't trust people at all because of the situations my addiction has put me in. I have severe PTSD. So these situations has not only brought out trauma it has completely made my time here miserable and my recovery to be put in a stand still. Sam has now accused me of lying and said I've made it up. When I don't even talk to people so why would I just bring this to people's attention if it's not true causing my social anxiety to be crazy. And not to forget to mention that every one on one I've had with Sam has never been helpful all she talks about is what I'm going to do after here, nothing about what's going on in my life or past traumas which we agreed to go through when I first got here. I WILL NOT BE CALLED A LIAR AND HAVE SOMEONE TWO FACED START TO BLAME ME FOR THERE ACTIONS! You're supposed to trust your therapist!! This whole experience has not made me any better. If anything it's made my cravings higher than ever. Maybe if things were like they used to be and how I've heard them to be before my experience would have been a lot better. I went to a rehab called "The Bluff" before this one a-little while back and I had a terrific time there. The staff really cared I was actually talking in groups and diving head first into my recovery. And now seeing the difference i feel like I've wasted my time and money at Mount Sinai. Would never recommend this place to anyone! And that's crazy because I used to work in recovery and send clients of mine here for detox and now I know I would never do that again. It's a very TOXIC environment. But if you chose to go here I wish you the best!

Problems from day 1! Lost my urine, mixed my dirty clothes with clean ones, etc. Their store price…read moregouges! Food is good sometimes. Eating area smells like poop. Not enough snacks, milk, or ice. Need another machine for both. Got sick, they dont care if you spread it. Had to hunt a pen down because they have none apparently. Only 1 TV & make detox patients wait until 5pm like the rest to watch it. Wouldn't give me any psyche meds at first until I threatened to leave! 1 week in & meds still not right. Tried to do a transfer & they keep trying to talk me out of it & refuse to cooperate. Tried to put me (a disabled veteran) on the street instead, to walk home, a 3 hour drive! This place is primarily addiction treatment. They sent some punk (director of admissions) to threaten to kick me out for no good reason! Asking me if I am schizophrenic...but they know how to deal with vets, they say. BS!!! Clinical director is full of it. Was told it was dual diagnosis but its not primarily mental health. Which is what I need! You have to walk around looking for staff or wait hours. Most staff are nice & care. Too much bible talk in groups though! HIPPA PRIVACY LAWS BEING VIOLATED HERE! Place is NOT SAFE/needs security! Another corporate one that just wants your money! Which is proven by them taking too many people in while understaffed. & they don't tell ya this but don't leave AMA or you'll be walking home, from all/any of them. Terrible experience overall with care & all.

The Food Is served by canned food/dumpster. No instructions on what to do day to day, but when you check in and are strung out they make you sign a 100 legal docs "real shady". The women wearing leggins showing camel toes and short shirts showing belly rings ect. Men gaucking over this. Can smoke which cause cancer more than any other killing disease, but cant use smokeless tobacco!! Why? Peoples sleeping with each other "so ovivious". Never met a counselor in my 1st 5 days!!! Employees at this place don't uphold anyone accountable unless it suits them. 1st day I meant people glouting about how cool it is to be there 3rd or 4th recovery "life time ambition". They wanted us to follow there rules, but never enforced the ones they posted on admission. For Me personally, I have never witnessed an absolute disaster from day 1. The director was never at the facility, but loved to scold me when I wanted to leave. I had to leave with none of my possessions or they would call the police and have me arrested."ive never been arrested". So I left, tried to come back and retrieve my property and was told I would be arrested if I stepped onto there property. I slept in the woods for a few hours fearing I would be arrested. I walked 4 miles until I found a waffle house, reminder I had sweatpants on and flip flops. The very kind waffle house workers allowed me to use the phone to call my wife. I walked back to the bullshit facility to be met by an asshole name Dominick. P.O.S he said if i come on this property to retrieve my belongings I would be arrested. Wtf. I turned around and walked 4 miles back to the waffle house and ask these kind gentlemen if I could use the phone again. My wife told me the same thing. After a few moments 3 cherokee police officers showed up and were very polite. They ask me how I was doing, I just said I want my belongings. I apologize for not get there names. The 3 officers were by far the most professional people I've met. They then drove me back to the fraternity/recovery place to get my belongings. They brought me back to the waffle house were I waited an hour for my wife to pick me up. PLEASE WHAT EVER YOU Do NEVER send your love one to this facility!!! My rating is negative 10. I've never been so humiliated in my entire life... blueridge recovery is anything but A PLACE FOR RECOVERY!!!

All of the groups are extremely helpful and useful. The house is phenomenal. Doesn't have the " rehab" feel. If you are thinking about other facilities, don't. My intake was performed by two interns/ college students who were clearly unfamiliar with the software they were using. While they were asking questions pertinent to my clinical needs, it was incredibly embarrassing since they were whispering amongst each other. I asked several times to just meet with Dr. Antin because of my discomfort. I was honest about it. Eventually he came in and told me that if I wanted him to do my intake that I should come on the weekend when he sees clients who pay cash. He said that insurance doesn't pay enough for him to be able to do intakes on each patient. Rationally, I understand it. It's a business. In the moment, his inappropriate candor was deeply disheartening during a really dangerous and difficult time. I would never recommend him, and have encouraged others to choose someone else.

Our email exchanges continued on Friday and in Saturday. You just don't find a doctor nowadays who responds and really cares like Dr Antin. He said just the right words to help me and I feel he was genuine in what he said. I followed up with a visit with him on Thursday and his concern carried over in that visit. He took the time to listen and answer my questions. He is the most caring doctor I have ever seen. And again I highly recommend him!
