I ordered pizza from Harbourtown Pizza and waited about half an hour outside before going in to pick it up. Only then was I told they do not accept American Express, which is the only card I carry. This was never mentioned when I ordered. Waiting that long for food only to find out you can't pay because of undisclosed payment restrictions is unacceptable. This could have easily been avoided with clear communication upfront. Mistakes happen, but this experience was frustrating enough that I won't be returning. Harbor town Pizza is a small, carry out pizzeria in Harrisville, MI. Very cramped inside by the order desk and the staff tends to be a bit grumpy. In their defense, it is roasting hot inside and that can make some people cranky. Always seems to be busy. I have Been getting take out Pizza from Harbortown for many years and have never been disappointed with the tastiness of their pizza. They make consistently good pizza where all the toppings are fresh and their butter garlic dough is top shelf. In this area you find that many of the restaurants struggle with consistently producing good food over time and this is clearly a differentiator for Harbortown as their pizza is "always" good. Additionally they are very reasonably priced where my medium Special pizza is only $13 which is an excellent value for a pizza of this quality. For my money, this is the best pizza in the greater Oscoda/Harrisville area and a must try if you are a fan of pizza . You will not be disappointed. Four stars read more

Every small town has their non-chain pizza place that seems to attract all of the business in the area. Harbortown Pizza seems to be it for Harrisville and for good enough reasons. I'm going to throw you some facts that might prove otherwise, but I like the pizza here. It has good flavor with the right proportion of stuff - you know - cheese, sauce, and stuff! We got a few different pizzas on our visit so that we could feed the crew at the nearby campgrounds. Cheese, Pepperoni, Hawaiian, and All Meat. The preparation thing that I didn't like had to do with the All Meat version. One of the toppings was sausage which were unnaturally neat little balls of sausage. The flavor of them was ok, but it seemed that they were put on the pizza a little late in the game such that they were rolling around on the slice when you went to pick it up. We got a couple of sauces such as marinara (or pizza sauce) and ranch. We also asked for some butter garlic. They gave us some, but the method of retrieval was to pour some out of the container that had sitting on the counter from which they would brush their crusts. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, it was just a little strange. If anything was off-putting, it was the placement of these cups of sauces. I would expect them to sit in the corners of the pizza box, but instead they went from the kitchen counter top to directly on top of the pizza - in the middle. That just seemed strange. We have to trust that the counter top and anything else those containers touched was completely spotless. Still not sure how I felt about that, but there were no reported illnesses, so I suppose we were ok. The only last thing to note - cash only. We were prepared, but this is one of those details that can throw some folks off. It's just a fact of life for some smaller establishments. You either live with it or you go somewhere else. When we're back in town, we'll definitely be stopping by again. read more

Finally tried Harbor Town and wasn't excited about it. Pizza was cold after we picked it up. The cheese was almost all in the middle. There was easily 3 inches from the crust to when the cheese started. Taste was alright. Not horrible but the other reviews got me excited. If I'm in a pinch I would return. Prices are good, location is perfect, pizza is okay, neither great nor awful. The lady that works there in the evening needs to cheer up, kind of cranky and always makes me feel like providing customer service is a chore for her. They do accept debit and credit cards and have specials but you have to ask, and "cranky lady" isn't always happy to share what they are. Harbortown is cemented into my memory, having been a participant and a source of incredible joy in many family meals and special occasions growing up. While I am no local resident and should move past the nostalgia, I must honestly review and mean wholeheartedly that the fine people of Harbortown Pizza earned every single star. From the get-go, one is warmly-greeted as you step into the small shop that can only be compared to the inside of a nutshell. Don't expect any seating as this isn't the place for that. These artists don't need that much room to create their masterpieces & clearly aren't distracted by the busy trains that pass just beyond their eastern wall. The wafting backdraft of flavor in the air upon entry immediately leaves one primed for the prize soon to come. You'll find fresh dough having risen over an unspecified amount of time, baked to a beautiful golden brown crust with a fluffy texture inside along with the freshest sauce one can make. Frankly, having lived overseas and travelled around the US trying pies of all kinds, I have yet to find another sauce comparable. Not overly thick or too thin. Even Goldilocks herself would be satisfied. Of course, the cheese & nearly any other topping one could ask for is magnificent and is certainly not sparing of any product (all you weirdos out there better leave the pineapple off of it). Of course, if you by some miracle aren't feeling up for a pizza, Harbortown also is able to hook you up with fantastic sandwiches, baked to perfection with a number of various combinations (definitely recommending the Chicken Bacon Club). Now, the Good Lord on High would not approve of the wasting of good food and I guarantee you'd be duking it out amongst family for the last crumb in the box. Yay for Harbortown! It wouldn't be a visit to Harrisville without ordering from Harbortown at least once. Their breadsticks are my favorite part. I could eat an entire order all by myself (and I may have at some point... jus' sayin'). Their pizzas are also awesome, to the point where my fiance is pretty convinced that it's better than the legendary pizza shop we eat at on the other side of the state. That's a big compliment because that "other pizza shop" is owned and run by an Italian family. Therefore, disregard all the outdated, unhappy reviews and just enjoy the pizza deliciousness. Mmmm. Probably some of the best pizza in America I swear. Hands down no one makes a BLT pizza like they do and if you haven't tried it, it will change your life! I've grown up eating this pizza every summer for the past 20 years and still cannot find a better pizza in all my other travels. All of their pizzas are good but nothing can beat that creamy sauce, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes and crunch bacon all on a pizza with yummy crust. We've been camping at the state park nearby off and on for years and have never gone out for pizza. On our last trip in July 2012 we picked up pizzas here twice and enjoyed it immensely. The pizza isn't the cheapest but it's worth every penny and this summer if you showed your vehicle registration with the recreational passport on it you'd get a free order of bread which is quite tasty too. There was a list given out at the state park showing area businesses that had discounts or freebies with the passport. They do accept credit cards now. If your looking for an easy meal or want a good pizza pie while in Harrisville do yourself a favor and eat at Harbortown. Will make it a point to have this for a meal on future visits.
