It is one of the cheapest in the area and relatively clean. However, it is on very busy road so traffic is loud, the room is dated, but for me personally i found the staff to be offensive. Our family lives in a small home, so when i have important work to get done i need somewhere to go for a night or two and focus. I on occasion will use a local motel/hotel for this purpose. But when i walked in to this place one night with my backpack the staff immediately labeled me as a 'homeless' person and refused to give me a room. While i understand Nanaimo does have a homeless problem, and when i am sporting a goatee as i was this night, i do not look like a 'professional'. But trust me, i did not look like i was homeless. I was the Director of Corporate Development for a company for 20 years before eventually buying and selling the business. I had my drivers license and credit card, etc. but he still used justifications like they only give rooms to tourists not locals, and then finally said he would let me stay 1 night but not 2 even though rooms were available. I ended up walking back home in the rain and just worked at home with the kids running around and screaming. I just couldn't justify giving them my money after that. Also, when my inlaws visit we use to have them stay there, but not anymore. So perhaps they are really a 2 star motel, but i'm only giving them 1. Then must have a lot of relatives and friends giving high stars on here because there is no way this place is a 3 or 4 star place as yelp suggests. I say spend a few bucks more and stay up the street at the Days Inn which has a pool and is more professionally run. read more
