I was like a kid in…read morea candy shop the first time I entered Wisebuys - chutneys and jams for as far as the eye could see, specialist breads, cakes, toffee waffles and of course the ever important Welsh cakes, a counter full of fudge and Turkish Delight (some of which I took back for my mother as a gift) and organic herbal teas, biscuits and cheeses. Phew. It's a stereotype I know, but Welsh shop staff are friendly. I was chatting away with the man who measured out my Turkish Delight who worried that his hands might be too big for the little gloves the ladies use, and the woman I paid was equally jovial. It was a joy to be in there; I spotted the Clippers tea (a great brand) and their Sleep Easy tea with valerian root, cinnamon and orangeblossom. Seriously, half a cup of that and I'm nodding off in front of the TV, no zopiclone required. We think we've got it good in London or Manchester for example, but you can't beat a deli in a tiny village. The prices are reasonable and everything has that darling little Welsh charm to it. That makes me sound as patronising as ever but seriously, if you find yourself in Narberth get some supplies here. It's fabulous. Believe.

They have a fabulous selection of delicacies including herbs, spices, cheeses, chutneys and pickles, and also supply speciality hampers made from local produce. You can either choose one of their 'ready to go' hampers, or can choose the contents yourself, and the best part about it is that there is no minimum order restriction, so you can order as little or as much as you like. They are very accommodating, and although their standard delivery is 3 days from your online order, if you ring them in an emergency they will do their best to deliver the next day. We initially wanted to go somewhere else as it had 4.5 star rating on yelp but that other place was closed on a Sunday so we re-yelped and found this absolutely fabulous little hidden gem very close to the hotel we were staying at, the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. As we parked the car, we said to ourselves, wow this place is gorgeous and it seems that not too many people know about it. We were super hungry as we'd just spent a day in Skomer and so when the food came it was bliss. EVERYTHING was so delicious and I dare say it's not because we were very hungry. We had the steak and stilton pie, the Sirloin steak with creamy mushroom sauce and gloriously fried fish and chips and ended with the crumble of the day. The pie was simply perfect, the steak was a great showcase of Welsh beef and it's sauce was one of the best mushroom sauce I've had and the battered fish was perfectly fried. Crumble was lovely. Oh dear, I'm hungry just writing this review. OK - now to the visuals. The pub itself and interior is nice and cozy. Quite pretty in fact with cute decorations here and there. And then there's the outside. We would have sat outside if we hadn't been outdoors on an island with no shade for 5-6 hours as the view was just lovely. You could easily come here on a beautiful evening and have a very romantic (and as above, DELICIOUS, meal) seeing the sunset on the River Cleddau. Needless to say that we will be back here again on our next trip in Wales :)

They do sell other things than ice cream, hot drinks, milkshakes, cakes etc so it can cater for anybody for a rest or a snack. The decor, when we last went, was ok and it was clean enough. I would have liked to been able to sit on a high stool at the bar like you can in American places. Every time we go I always think I'd like to open one myself. Don't think it would be as popular in Leicester though, sadly. Give it a go, even if you don't like ice cream.
