My husband was referred to Dr. Howard Schultheiss at Harford Lower Extremities by our Primary Care 2 years ago for his diabetic neuropathy in his feet. From the very first visit I knew we both had a new foot Dr. He got his pain under control and all was good. I had been going to a Podiatry group in Bel Air for years and was "satisfied" until my last surgery by them. I had a bunion on my left big toe which I was told by the surgeon was pushing my other toes to the left. The bunion was removed and big toe straightened -- nothing else. At my 2 week post op when the bandages were removed I had a "flip flop" foot (a large gap between my big toe and the others) There were other post op visits and the toes looked the same. I was discharged. After months of discomfort/pain because of the leaning toes I went back to the surgeon who told me my foot did not look like that after surgery. Needless to say the x-rays he had taken proved him wrong. For several visits he wrapped and padded my foot and gave me a cortisone shot. Nothing worked. I needed more surgery. I was totally disgusted. UNTIL Jan. 5 when I went to Dr. Schultheiss. He examined my foot, said I needed surgery - no toes to be broken, and all to be fixed at one time (unlike what I was told by the previous surgeon). I was scheduled 3 weeks later. I am now 5 weeks post op and walking with a toe splint apparatus and surgical shoe and doing great!!!! I highly recommend Dr. Schultheiss. He is an incredible surgeon and caring man. I am sorry I did not know about him when we first moved to Bel Air. His entire staff is very friendly and wonderful. I feel like I have become a part of a new family. I could NOT be happier with my new podiatrist Dr. Schultheiss doesn't get any better. I was still in terrible/horrible pain from surgery that I had in October 2015 from a different surgeon (they stopped taking my insurance) which is why I was on the hunt for an amazing podiatrist. He took me right in, saw how much pain and agony I was in, sent me for a MRI and confirmed that it was "NOT" all in my head, that my foot was still in need of major care. Well I could NOT be happier, I'm a VERY picky person as well as a fulltime mom, I have a fulltime job and fulltime wife I don't have time to slow down, go to doctors every 4 days and he understood that and listen to me, and was more then willing to help me in anyway he could. I'm already a little nervous going to any doctor but he made it simple to talk to & showed compassionate of what I was going through and understood. they work with my schedule and always fit me in or work with me over the phone to help. THIS IS WHY DOCTORS BECOME DOCTORS. They don't make them like this anymore. I'm very lucky to have found them. Let me start with, I'm rather apprehensive about doctors. From my first visit with Dr Schultheiss, I was at ease. I had multiple wounds on both my calves, and a severely neglected ingrown nail on the right foot big toe. after examining my problems he felt Ï would be better suited for treatment at the Wound care center at Union Hospital in Elkton. My treatment started there Jan 9, after 7 anurse visits and 8 dr visits, my wounds are healed except for the big toe which is almost there. I have lymphadema and we're working to keep swelling down with compression systems. If your looking for a qualified doctor and staff, they are the ones. Take it from someone who is not comfortable with going to the doctor, when I left his office after the first visit Ï felt like I had been talking to an old friend. Two big toes up read more

Dr. Schultheiss performed surgery on both of my pinky toes. I was suffering from hammer toes, I was in so much pain before my surgery I had difficulty walking , since the surgery I have been totally pain free and feel amazing! Dr. Schultheiss and his office staff are just great, they are very attentive, the office has a very Professional but home like atmosphere. I suffered an ankle injury from a fall at work. Dr. Tried all least invasive treatment before surgery. Surgery did happen but he has supported me along the way. The office is spotless and patient care appears to be their number one goal. The clerical. Staff goes above and beyond in setting up surgery and providing before and aftercare. I had 2 problems and when I called they got me in each time to see the Dr that day. Wondful care! read more

Dr. Schultheiss is very arrogant as a person and a doctor. He is very off- putting, his attempt to practice bedside manner falls short and is very transparent. He has no problems conducting unnecessary painful testing so he can charge your insurance company. I found him to be noncaring and selfish. This place is the best! I was a new patient and the doctors were amazing and well educated! The staff is friendly and amazing! The doctor was very pleasant and able to answer all questions I had. Wonderful, caring staff and doctor. Diagnosed with x-rays right there, treated (cortisone shot did not even hurt!), advised, and patiently answered all my questions. The only thing that would have been better is if they had given me a spa pedicure! LOL. I've trusted both my boys here and my husband too. read more

Dr. D'Andelet is very careful & a pleasure to talk to. She cares about her patients. Dora scheduling & registering at the front desk is welcoming & friendly. Other podiatrist practices in the area are clearly in it just for the money. Come to HLES when you want to be treated properly & with care. read more
