NOBODY else would even consider me, & I called/emailed over a dozen from yellow pages / craigslist / etc....very hard to find a genuine handyman anymore.....he was efficient & took care of it all, even ran up to Home Depot for an item ...he explained things & I was surprised when he said what I thought was wrong w my one set of windows was way off base, he figured it out & fixed the cause of the problem...that's a handy man. And, last but nice for me, he chatted a bit now & then, made an old grandma smile, so he has a genuine nice manner. He is obviously experienced, as evidenced by the ease and efficiency he displayed with every task on our list, from replacing screens to under sink repairs to door frame repair and painting touch-ups. Steve is reliable, competent, and his hourly rate is very fair, especially considering how quickly he works. Don't use Steve. Made appt with him for 930a and finally we called around 10a and he answered almost with a question asking whether he had me scheduled. He clearly forgotten the 1/2 hour convo we had detailing the scope of work. Then he said he would be here at 11a. At 11:10a we called AGAIN and this time Steve said he would arrive in a half hour. When I reminded him we just agreed on 11a his answer was simply "I don't know what to tell ya." Who does business like this? Completely unorganized, unprofessional and unreliable. This man is very unprofessional. First, I will give him credit for his quick reply when I contacted his business for some small home repairs at my townhome in Aurora. I spoke with him on Saturday, and he had no problem coming out to my home on Monday at 4pm (+1 star). It was 4:18pm (after appointed time), when I got a call that he was in my complex and where he was at. The complex where I live is very confusing, and I was trying to inform him of exactly where I was located. I'm not sure if it was his misogynistic side or just someone who doesn't like to get directions, he finally said "Well, I can't find your house." and hung up on me. Very unprofessional I would never recommend this person to anyone including my worst enemy. read more

Steve has installed a sink basin and faucet for me, fixed my venting system from my dryer in the basement, fixed my toilet, and given me advice on things that he even recommended he not be the one to do. I very much appreciate his honesty, no-nonsense approach to what I should consider or not pay too much for, and his trustworthiness. He's reasonably priced and efficient. I found Steve on yelp when I redefined someone to fix things in my moms house before selling it. Steve called me back, met me, ga e me a very reasonable quote and started that day. Steve is so amazing. We moved into a home last October. Steve did so much for us. Installed ceiling fans, baby gates, patched holes in the wall, tv mounts and the list goes on. Some of the output needs to be checked and adjusted / fixed, sometimes more than once. Some of the items were never done to high standard and level of detail, and the only way to fix would be to redo those items. Always agree on price for the job, not rate per hour. In retrospect should have called someone more highly skilled, with possibly higher cost and longer wait time, but likely would have gotten things done right the first time. read more

Simple items to be completed, he uninstalled a ceiling fan and couldn't put it back to together again , and it turned out to be a simple wire crossing. he fell off the ladder and busted my wall and claimed he didn't need to fix it , until I said I would take him to court--he came in and dirtied up the entire house, cleaned his tools at my counter and put crap down the sink faucet. He built a simple bench and didn't complete the bench to dimensions and tried to charge more for it. He is inept at this work. Not only would I not hire him, I would strongly advise against hiring him at all. He will not complete the work on time nor as indicated. He didn't complete the window cleaning, out of all the easy things to do, he couldn't do the simplest and he didn't do anything that was instructed. He even suggested to add reinforcements in the corners (for added security based on what i was going to store & put on the shelves). Steve showed up when he said he would. Got right to work and was a hard worker. I would have given a 5 but there was some damage to the vanity top he installed and he damaged the floor a bit when he was carrying a door downstairs. I can't recommend Steve H. I used him on a few small jobs and he was okay most of the time. There was one small job he agreed to do and then backed out of at the last minute. I overlooked it at the time, but have come to regret it since Steve has done the same thing on a far more significant and time sensitive job. Since, I found Steve on Yelp, I felt compelled to submit this review about Steve's professional conduct. Over 2 weeks ago, I arranged with Steve to do an important job in a rental property that would start a soon as the property was vacant. The job entailed rebuilding a bathroom, repairing floors in a couple of rooms, touching up paint, throughout the house, and whatever other minor repair work was necessary to restore the house to good condition. In other words, ordinary handyman tasks. Steve agreed to do the job though he was reluctant to do some of the flooring stuff. 15 minutes before we were to meet at the property to kick the project off, he sent me a text message saying he didn't want to do the job. He subsequently told me (again by text since he wouldn't answer his phone) that he doesn't "need to work that hard at my age". This basically sums it up. Steve is unreliable, unprofessional, and within sight of being over-the-hill. This cost me all of the time invested in getting Steve ready to do the job as well as the time I could have spent trying to find someone else had Steve simply communicated his concerns up front. Unacceptable. If you have small jobs that won't overtax Steve and if you are prepared to risk being dropped at the last minute because he decides he has something better to do that day, then he might be your guy. If however, you have an important project and you want a reliable handyman, then I suggest you look elsewhere because Steve is a serial jilter. read more

I am very dissatisfied with the work he did. He did sloppy work, things are not level or secured well. He also damaged the item when trying to install it. I am stuck living with the substandard work now unless I want to tear everything out and do it over. He was on the cheaper end of the handyman I called; I guess you get what you pay for. Disappointing!! I was very clear what project I needed done and when he showed up to do it, he didn't have the right ladder. Not sure how I could have communicated more clearly. Steve was straightforward about the (reasonable) costs for putting up shelves in our garage, and he did the work efficiently and well. He helped us out for no extra charge by reapplying roofing tar around a vent that had been leaking, and even checked back to make sure that the leak had stopped. We'll be contacting him again for any other work we need done. read more

I am very unsatisfied on his job. He is unprofessional handy man and he does not has much knowledge about being a handy man. I hired him to install safety bars in my bathroom. He came to my house and did not has the right tool then went to bought stuff at ace hardware before he left, he did not tell me that would cost me extra. He left with unfinished job, dirty and he did not tell me that he did not use all the screws that suppose to use and install for the safety bars.He only used two screws for one safety bar! But they come with 6 screws totally. I called him, he said that he does want to ruin his drill and the bars are fine....then he hanged up on me ...very rude and unprofessional. He never came back finish the job that I already paid him. I would not recommend his service. read more
