I remember looking at Creative Keyboard Yelp reviews and immediately contacting them because of all of the amazing reviews -- we've been meeting once per week online (via zoom) and at first, I wasn't sure how it would work not being in person, but it has been SMOOTH! I get to practice right in the comfort of my home while she guides me. I've learned SO much and feel so much more confident at only 4 months in. I can easily handle zoom piano lessons for life. She has a great setup with cameras in different angles and she does a fantastic job at teaching. From music theory, music history, and more...she really explains it in a way that sticks. I always get so motivated as soon as we end our zoom calls. She has made piano more enjoyable than I could have ever imagined. Unfortunately for me, personal circumstances prevented me from pursuing my lessons beyond a certain point, but I was surprised at how easily I could sit down and pick out almost any desired tune when I was alone with my piano. Lana is immensely talented, highly educated in piano and music theory, and is the sweetest, most accommodating music teacher I have every had the pleasure to deal with. She uses many creative methods (including visual aids and recording) to convey her lessons, depending on what level the students are. And her students have told me that they improve more quickly with her than with their other teachers. She makes the time fun to keep people interested (no rulers on knuckles), but she also wants them to learn as much as they can. I like that she is flexible enough to teach someone just to play around by ear if that's all they want to do, but that she can also discuss the complex issues of concert pieces from the masters. After all, she was trained at the Russian Kazan Conservatory. From the personal side, she was easy to work with concerning my own lessons. When I'd miss a note, she'd gently ask if maybe that note should have been played a different way. When I couldn't take lessons every week, she encouraged me to just come as much as I could. I recommend Lana to all my customers who ask about teachers in the area, and I'd recommend her to you too.
