I've been taking piano lessons with Crystal for 4 months now. I started as a complete beginner. It was during quarantine and I really wanted to take up a new hobby and piano has always been on my bucket list. Robert Schumann and Clara Schumann are my great great great grandparents, so I was very inspired to learn. I remember looking at Creative Keyboard Yelp reviews and immediately contacting them because of all of the amazing reviews -- we've been meeting once per week online (via zoom) and at first, I wasn't sure how it would work not being in person, but it has been SMOOTH! I get to practice right in the comfort of my home while she guides me. I've learned SO much and feel so much more confident at only 4 months in. I can easily handle zoom piano lessons for life. She has a great setup with cameras in different angles and she does a fantastic job at teaching. From music theory, music history, and more...she really explains it in a way that sticks. I always get so motivated as soon as we end our zoom calls. She has made piano more enjoyable than I could have ever imagined. She's encouraging, positive and made learning the piano not seem so overwhelming because there's a lot to learn! Both of our daughters studied under Crystal for many years and she instilled in them a great love for the piano. Our girls are now out of college with homes of their own. So last year I decided it was my turn to learn to play the piano. Over the years, Crystal had become not only my kids' favorite teacher, she was also my dear friend. Modesto you are so blessed to be getting this AMAZING teacher!! We have used Crystal for over 10 years now with 3 children. From when my 19 year old was 7 years old until she wrote him a letter of recommendation for college!! Unfortunately she will not be here to teach my 4th child that is just beginning. She has such patience with the kids and truly cares about each and every one of her students. I've always felt 100% comfortable leaving my kids with her if I had to run errands. Of course she welcomes parents to stay and listen too which is so nice. She has the education and talent to be able to take the kids to the highest levels and knows how to work with different personalities or learning challenges. We have had all our kids participate in California's MTAC Certificate of Merit program with her. She knows all the ins and outs of what is needed to do their tests and preps them for both their performance and theory tests. The treat box is always fun for the younger students after their lessons and her studio awards help to motivate the kids to do their best. She offers recitals too which is great for the students to get used to performing in front of others and learning to deal with the pressures involved in a safe, loving environment. The kids love her dearly and are motivated to please her. There will be many tears shed here in SoCal without her here! Crystal is an amazing teacher! I took lessons with her for over 10 years, starting when I was six years old. She is the most patient, kind, and caring person. Throughout my lessons I learned not only how to play piano but also about the history behind the music. I cannot recommend Crystal highly enough. I knew about her through friends and contacted her to teach my 9 year old boy. At that time he was already tired of doing piano lessons and wanted to quit playing. Amazingly, after starting lessons with Crystal, he started playing with a renewed passion and never brought up again his wish to stop playing the instrument. Crystal taught him all the way through high school, helping him to complete CM level 10 with honors ! Crystal is an amazing teacher and motivator.
