I arrived around 8am for an 8:20 appointment and was taken back around 8:15! Dr. Cotant suggested that for my follow up I meet with the NP, Heather Gulish (she apparently does a lot of work with women in their clinic) and I look forward to meeting her.

I had to make an appointment and wait two or more hours in a waiting room with over 100 people in it just to drop off a urine sample, when I can do this via my PCP at HFHS in less than five minutes. I do not blame my urologist. I blame the profit driven corporate structure controlled by the Ascension system, which has a terrible record of malpractice lawsuits, no doubt not because the doctors are bad, but because their office staff are so terrible, and especially rude on the phone, even to a physcian. I am changing to a urologist from the Beaumont system. But don't blame the doctor!

Well I watched 2 people go in and still nothing was happening with me. Soon more people showed including new people that were handed paperwork to fill out, still I sat. Then after 25 minutes and no more patience for being ignored again, I walked to the window and there sat the lady, I asked what the fee was for canceling an appt and she said nothing. Asked my name, I picked up the sign in sheet and showed her. Then said I was our of there. I wasn't waiting any longer to be recognized as a new patient and wait for paper work. She looked a little stunned. If there was a zero for this rating I would be giving that. I called the main office and made a complaint and was told, so sorry this happened, this will be dealth with and they would get me in with another doctor as soon as this afternoon in another location - NO THANK YOU I told the lady. I would NOT be returning to any Comprehensive Urology offices again. I will never know if they have a doctor that could help me or not, but if the staff is this bad, I'm not sure if the doctor would be any good, since she should have someone at the front desk that knows how to handle a front desk.

He's thorough when he knows what he's talking about, honest when he doesn't, and doesn't dance around with platitudes. I'm going to guess that's a bit off-putting by people who are used to being coddled, but for me, I really appreciate his approach. I don't want to be pals and talk about the Tigers game for 8 of the 10 minutes he's in the room. I want to not feel sick. Done and done. Getting a same-day appointment isn't too difficult if you've got something legit, and though it may not be with the Doctor himself, his PA is at least as good. I've never once felt like "Okay, go get the doctor" when I've seen her. I also appreciate not being left in the waiting room forever, or being brought back near my appointment, only to be left in the exam room for 45 minutes. When I've asked for a same-day appointment, the longest I've waited was maybe 20 minutes total. With appointments, it's usually about 10 minutes. I'm pretty quick to change doctors when something seems amiss, but I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever been to a practice that's instilled -- and more importantly, earned -- nearly implicit trust.
