Been pricing electrical contractors/electricians for a large home renovation in the Cambridge area. Talking 8,000 to 20,000 in work.
Made contact through the website asking for quotes on different solutions, left contact information and waited.
No reply.
Called Stecho directly, put through to Steve who made apologies, said he was getting back from vacation. Fine. Talked some, said he would send out someone at the start of the week by noon. Said if the person was running late, would call.
Wife took Monday off from work. Waited. Near end of business (4 pm-ish) emailed Steve and asked where his man was. His man, Bruce, called within 5 minutes and said he had been at our house at 12 and sat in the drive way waiting on us. Told him it wasn't possible. Checked details, apparently he wrote down the wrong address. Fine. Still didn't call us to say he was late, or to verify details or see where we were. Just drove away, apparently, like he's a cable installer.
Bruce finally shows up. We do walk through, talk about options. Expecting a quote right away but Bruce says it will take 3 days. Not happy with putting our lives on hold for three days, esp. dealing w/ contractors and additional work that needs to be done.
I say ok. Plan to have additional electricians quote in the mean time. Put framer/roofer on hold, explain circumstances.
Three days pass, no contact. Wait until 4pm to call, don't want to be a nuisance if they are busy. Get a hold of Bruce. He apologizes, says he's busy, swears he will have a quote for me the next day by noon. The next day at noon-- nothing. Email Steve, nothing. Weekend passes. Monday, check email. Nothing.
I shouldn't have to chase a contractor for a quote. The idea of putting money in their hands and jumping through circles in the hope of getting their attention, or to have my business dealt with professionally is unacceptable.
I would never use the services of Stecho. If they can't show up on time or deliver a quote within a set period of time, they shouldn't be in business. No customer should be made to feel like they are interrupting/harassing the company they are willing to pay for services- ever. read more
