I bought 4 emerald cedar 7 gal trees on June 20, 2018. Receipt clearly stated " original receipt required for returns and warranties, nursery stock warranty void if 40% off, 40% or more items are final sale, 30 day return policy on all hard goods, all custom arrangements and merchandise is final sale"
The girl who sold me her name Rachel is printed on the receipt. I asked her if the trees die, can I bring them back for exchange, she said, yes. Today I called the Harper's Garden centre. I informed the lady on the phone about my purchase and that I have two dead trees that I like to exchange, she said, yes, bring them in with your two dead trees and the original receipt. As asked, I followed the instructions. I got to the nursery and spoke to the lady on cash and explained the same. I man standing by took the receipt and explained me that I have no warranty as per stated clause on the receipt, as per above. I informed him I was informed by their staff Rachel that I could. My reasoning was....when a staff member informs you that I can bring the dead trees back then the warranty on the receipt is void since the staff member working there states that I can bring the trees back if they die. So based on that I got into deliberations with this man at Harper's Garden Centre. I asked him to give his name. He refused. I asked him to give me the name of his manager, he refused, and said he is the manager. I asked him to give me the name of his manager or owner. He said he was the owner.
Owners don't act like this, they find solutions to mitigate and solve problems for their paying or paid guests. Clearly, no shame, no remorse, no empathy, no customer service skills, unprofessional. If this is what the owner at this place is like, it's a disgrace to the business.
I have spent over $600 with Harper's Garden Centre this summer and this is how I get treated.
Harper's should know their business works on excellent customer service, their business exists because of their loyal customers who come back to buy quality product and service.
I am very upset how they treat their customers. Terrible!
