First Baptist Church on Main Street in Moncks Corner is a warm and inviting church. I have had a…read morereally good experience every time I have been here for a service or an event. Everyone here is very friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome each time you are here.

Third of all if you're thinking about getting a job here, don't, these people don't care about their employees, they definitely have their favorites and pick and choose who they want to f*** with. They also have cameras but it's for the wrong reasons not for the safety and well being of the children, people can get away with things others can't. I know someone who works here and she's gotten written up for things others haven't, she also told me her salary, they don't want to pay anyone shit so don't even waste your time. The financial Advisor Lynn is always in peoples business, probably why she's getting a divorce because she sticks her nose in everything, Suzy just doesn't know what she's doing and Morgan, she's just a follower. No ABC voucher, too pricy, it's not worth it. You can't trust anyone people will run their mouth, even if you do your job it's still not acknowledged, this person who I mentioned is also looking for a different job. Just because this is a church doesn't mean anything it's all about a business and making money.

Please be cautious before trusting St Luke's Children's Center w/ your kids…read more My daughter attended St Luke's CC. She had behavior issues. One morning, after a long, difficult struggle, we decided to spank her. Because I stupidly believed their whole "working together" pitch, I mentioned to her St Luke's teacher that I had spanked our daughter. WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD, they waited til I left, photographed my daughter's back side (no marks), and called the cops! DSS got involved and - that same day - told me I'd done nothing wrong. A DSS management-level person asked to meet with me and told me DSS had similar "over-reactions" from St Luke's Childrens Center. She asked me to keep her statement between me and her, then she suggested I switch preschools. DSS closed the incident that same day. Several teachers at St. Luke's also suggested I change pre-schools - requesting anonymity bc they feared losing their jobs. I went to the preschool director and politely asked what in the world she was thinking when she called the cops. She bobbed and weaved, but essentially admitted her motivation was that she disagreed with corporeal punishment, even though it's legal in this state. I had to request my meeting with the Children's Center director. None of the church leaders reached out to me during any of part of this. I got my daughter out of St. Luke's as quietly as possible, not wanting to make waves that would scar her further. But this incident hurt her at the time and hurt our family, our trust in church, our trust in God... I have waited a considerable time to post this review because I don't want anyone who spoke to me on condition of privacy to get any blow-back. I looked at their website, it appears the St. Lukes CC director at the time this happened is gone, as are sonof the teachers. In retrospect, I think the director at the time and a cliche of teachers put their desire to be social engineers ahead of the best interest of my daughter. I don't even like to drive past St. Luke's. I would never recommend St. Luke's Childrens Center to anyone. ******* Seven months since I posted this review. Notice there has been ZERO response from anyone at St. Luke's. Not surprising. They can't openly say who they are or what they stand for. When called out on their actual motivations, they can only hunker down in silence. Not people you want shaping your child's character.

I seems as if they keep the equipment on the floor just to make it seem full. The staff told me they are getting new equipment in a few weeks but what the heck am I supposed to do until then? The only real thing I see coming of use is maybe a class if I can (not the reason I joined), or the pool. And the pool is already booked out for classes and whatnot so the adult swim or family swim is only a half hour block...usually when I'm at work. I cancelled my membership on the spot and am mad at myself for wasting money on this sorry establishment.

The original downtown Summerville location of the YMCA has a pool and sauna, gymnastics facility…read morewhich the Ponds location does not have. I am partial to this location because it is the one I grew up with- I took gymnastics here. I'm pretty sure the gymnastics facility is exactly the same as it was 20+ years ago when I attended. The best part about this gym (now that I'm an adult) and location is the child watch- it is open 7 days a week. So, if you have kids, you can work out every day almost all day long (2 hour limit). M-F the child watch is open from 8-8, Saturdays from 8-1, and Sundays i think from 12:45-3:45. It seems like a lot of gyms in the area either don't offer childcare or if they do the hours are really limited. There are many different classes offered as well as fitness coaches/trainers if you want that. There are two cardio rooms, a small one with just a few machines and a larger one upstairs with maybe 10 treadmills, a handful of bikes and I think a couple of ellipticals. I typically come here a few days/week with my two littles, drop them off at the daycare, then go running through downtown Summerville (you are required to stay on the campus while you have your kids in the childcare unless you are going on a run in which case I think you just leave them with your cell phone # and then off you go) or I do strength training in the weight rooms. Like every gym this one gets busy from around 4-7 so you may have to fight a fellow 9-5er for a parking spot and then a machine. After 7 the teenagers usually come out for their daily bulking/mirror staring sesh. During the daytime you can almost always find a machine easily since the people that come are typically SAHMs and older people coming in for either pool time or the daytime fitness classes. During the weekdays this location is very popular with older people, they like to come hang out in the community room and chit chat and sometimes play ping pong. The social scene here for 55+ is pretty poppin. Happy sweating!
