We were driving around the area looking for a spot by the water to sit in the sunshine. Driving down US 1 we passed a sign that said Harry Harris park. Just a small road sign that you could easily miss unless you were paying attention. We turned around and followed the road back to the park, maybe 1/2 mile back off US1. The park has a attendant to pay for access, but no one was there so we were glad to save a bit of money. Parked the car and we went out to the beach and sat in the sun for a couple hours. Park has restrooms, picnic tables, grills, basketball hoops, playground area and a walkway to the water. Nice little park and was exactly what we were looking for. Saw several people stop and eat lunch and I'm sure they were as happy as we were to find this park. We were there on February 6, 2026. read more

A nice place to picnic, walk your dog, or just relax by the water. It was a bit run down, and the normal admission fee wasn't collected. The beach is small and the water protected, making it a fun place for children to play in the water. However, it's not ideal for swimming. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Eww definitely a $15.00 mistake on my part, I should have taken the hint from the gate attendant when he told me there is absolutely no refunds. As I drove to the parking lot I tried to process this statement and what that might mean. Well once I opened the door on the Jeep to exit I quickly realized the park has a stench that was as foul as anything you want to experience - the muddy shoreline beneath the mangroves smell like what I image fermented dog crap would smell like. The small swimming area / "beach" is totally enclosed by a rock jetty where the water seeps through two drain tiles that are partially clogged with sea-grass and trash. There is a paved walking path on top of the jetty and a second paved path called "Wilkinson Point" this entrance too is a paved path that is also masked in the same stench and flies. There are some sandy areas with cover picnic tables and grills as well as a playground for the rugrats, it's fenced in and there are signs throughout the "park" stating domestic animals are not allowed". At the far left end of the park there are some ball fields and restrooms along with a number of covered picnic tables that most were surrounded by muck filled with native birds sifting through the stagnant water. We didn't hangout long, I figured it was about a dollar a minute self-guided tour, at most this should be a public boat ramp. I can't see where the price of admission is reinvested to maintain this park, it likely partially subsidizes the cost to staff an attendant - I do not recommend you experience this one, the second star is strictly based on view of the water... read more

Perfect spot for fishing, swimming, or just hanging out to read a book in the sand. Dogs welcome on the path. Swimming in the lagoon is separate from where you fish by a path, so your dog can join you for fishing. There are spots to stand and fish, or you can bring a boat out onto the water. Small playground and space to run around for kids. Definitely would recommend! I plan to return here soon. read more

Meandering along our Keys journey led us to Harry Harris, and it was a happy trip. During the week people were sparse and there was plenty of room to spread out. Grab a table if you brought your meal, or just plunk down on the sand to gaze at the ocean. Some swing sets will keep the young and young at heart engaged, and we saw several families during our trips. Yes, trips: we enjoyed it enough to stop by on the way north as well. Established shade makes the sun bearable, and the stroll around the arched path into the ocean is relaxing. On weekends and holidays there's a charge per car, but that's worth it for this place, although likely busier than midweek. We'll come back again whenever heading through. read more

This park is more like 2 1/2 stars. It was very easy to find as we just followed all the signs. As many times as I've been to Key Largo and the area, I've never been here. Nor did I realize that the key was so wide at this point. We even got to see Rodriguez Key, a long island rising out of the water, to the northeast from the park -- another part of the keys I never knew existed. After following the signs we arrived at the beach area. There was no admission. It's not the best beach by any means -- beaches in the keys are usually man made or bits of coral, and this was a more a flat area of some sand. Nothing exciting. The small park has covered picnic tables, an enclosed playground for kids, a rock enclosed lagoon for swimming, and a boat launch area. There was also an area further down with picnic pavilions and grills. We walked out on to part of the rocks surrounding the lagoon. The path is now barricaded by a fence saying "no trespassing", so that you can't walk out onto the entire semi circle. There was a lovely breeze coming off the ocean. I went to the park not knowing if it was open or not. But June 24 was a Wednesday and it was open to the public. Here you can take your boat or jet ski where you can also take it to the water since the have a deck for it. It has an ample parking garage with plenty of space. They also have a playground and many places with chairs and benches to sit down and enjoy the park with the Waterview. read more

Not a bad place to come should you are fine with lagoon features and not an actual beach. There is a fee to come. The water is warm but the seaweed is very heavy. It's great for families with small kids as there is an actual kids play area. For those choosing to bring their water craft then there is a launch area with minimal parking. read more

Beautiful little spot in front of the water with a ramp for boats. Excellent for kids with a safe playground and enclosed beach area. My girls had a great time. Not good for dogs, unfortunately, which is why I can't give it a 4 star. Had a bitter experience with the park guard (not sure she can be called a ranger). This person threatened to call the sheriff on me if I didn't leave the park immediately while she yelled and pointed her finger at me from her cart even as I was on my way out with between dogs on a leash. read more

The price has doubled just to drop our boat to $40.00 USD. We trailered our boat back the next day and we're charged another $40 dollars, it's ridiculous. Save yourself the money and get a hotel with a dock and trailer parking. This is just abuse. Never coming back again. read more

E advised that Harry Harrison charges $40.00 to drop your boat in and $40.00 to take it out if you are not a local resident. They do not charge Monday-Friday from what I have been told but, call in advance to verify. The ramp is a zoo and lots of arguments taking place as there is only two ramps. I would recommend using the Florida Keys Dive Shop"s private ramp for a $10 fee. They are open 8-5pm daily. read more

Beautiful place, I really cannot complain about the beauty of nature, but the situation with the human made is a different story. Bathrooms are really nasty, I didn't feel like going in there, there was toilet paper everywhere, you could smell urine everywhere, and the "shower" was kind of a mess as well, I don't blame in on the park but they people who goes there, and believe that being so dirty and nasty is ok because somebody is will clean after them. The secured beach surrounded by rocks is super nice, it's just the right size for toddlers, but you cannot really do anything else, if you want deeper waters then you have to go where the coral is and is kind of sharp, so I recommend you to have water shoes on. The kiddie park in there is somehow dirty and without a lot of stuff in the playground, they donned to put more things in there. read more

Another large piece of the park completely devoted to boat ramp and boat and trailer parking. Spectacular views from the Atlantic side of Key Largo. Nice lagoon area for swimming. I would have given this small beach/lagoon 4 stars, but the smell killed it. While this little beach is super cute, and a perfect pit stop for weekend fun in the keys, the accumulated water stuck between the shore-line, smelled like sewage. I'm not sure how the maintenance works here, but it can't possibly be that hard to remove the sitting water thats smells like it has been trapped there for months. Aside from this, the beach is very cute, and offers clean bathrooms. Unfortunately there is only one public shower though. There is plenty of parking, but I do recommend getting here early as it does get busy. I didn't pay any fee to enter or park, not sure if this is always the case, but that sure was great! I did like this beach overall, but I really hope they can resolve the standing water situation. read more

We came into the Keys for a half day from the Everglades for a late lunch and quick beach walk. After doing some last minute research we decided to stop by the Harry Harris Park. There are a few picnic benches, small restrooms, and small beach area. There is a boat ramp and small park as well. There was no entry fee on a Monday, but not sure about weekends. I wouldn't recommend this for a full day at the beach but for a quick trip and maybe a lunch or snack! read more

I only give this 1 star because I had to give a star. The beach is dirty and not a beach. The shower did not work. And toliets were nasty. My husband asked for veteran discount and was denied. Paid full rate for 5 minutes and not even offered a discount after speaking with park host. Veterans do not come here, veterans not welcome. This is a great park to have your kids come and play at a playground, go swimming in the encircled Lagoon or go fishing. It's especially a nice park to come to and relax at the end of a busy day. The park closes at sunset and their is an attendant that drives around notifying everyone the parks closure. There's not really a proper beach, but the shore of the lagoon is good for that. At first impression I wasn't too impressed. But with six kids in tow we made our way around the entire place. Walking, swimming, sliding, swinging, poking Cassiopeia Jellyfish... the more I looked around enjoying the coral and rocks and how happy my kids were, well, I fell in love pretty quickly. The bathroom was decent, though I was expecting bigger. Was happy to find outdoor shower on side of bathroom. Kinda chilly shower in February, but outdoor weather was remarkable! Really enjoyed the covered picnic tables. We had lunch there and it started sprinkling for a few minutes. Dogs allowed in, but only on sidewalks and such, not on sand. We made it work. I have been coming to this beach for 30+ years. I rather drive 1 hr from Miami to come here then deal with traffic and parking going to Miami Beach. Price - if you are a keys resident. Bring a bill or a copy of your taxes and it's free. If not, there is a minimal fee but most of the time they waive the fee, unless it's a holiday weekend. Parking - most of the time you find parking by the beach area unless it's a holiday weekend then there is additional parking on the other side of the park. Beach - if you are looking for sandy white fluffy sand, this is not for you. But then again you are in the keys, turn around and go back to Miami or go further down to Bahia Honda. Harry Harris has a lagoon similar to Matheson Hammocks. It has 3 big portals with fence to let the water come in and out but prevent the big fish to come in. Along the side of the lagoon you can snorkel and swim without a worry. Local fishermen like to stand alongside the lagoon to fish towards the ocean. Grills/picnic tables - great for a beach party. The blonde lady at the entrance charges you $5 per person if you forget your local ID! Even if you've shown it to her 10 + times :/. No alcohol, no music on speakers, they're very strict here. We went in with our dogs because it's apparently dog friendly but it's in fact NOT. No gated area for them to run around and you aren't allowed anywhere near the beach or water with leashed pets or else they'll run you down in their golf cart and kick you out. Bummer, we didn't even stay for 10 minutes and no refunds. waste of 10$. read more

Let's begin with - this is during a very difficult time for everyone. That being said, we should all consider exactly what we're looking for in a key largo beach and the atmosphere that said beach boasts in these reviews. If you're looking for secluded/romantic white sands or the clear blue seas of the keys - please - be sure to read the remainder of this post to avoid disappointment and disgust. We arrived to a closed fence, with a heavy handed lady handling the entry. My girlfriend was immediately off put. Once we were finally allowed to enter, we were forced to walk 1000 yards through a heavy stench of manure and very soft footing which felt like we were waking in the very wave we were smelling. Looking for a spot at the Keys is very difficult if you are not staying in a hotel. This quite little spot hidden away in Tavernier is a cute family spot that has a playground and bbqs all around with picnic tables for you and your family. You must pay $5.00 per person and children are free. The parking is tight if you do not get their early, so I suggest getting there around 9:30 am or 10:00 am to get a parking spot and picnic table. The beach is closed in like a lagoon and is pretty small. Their are people all around the rocks fishing. They have a dock were you can launch your boat and jet skis. Unfortunately the day I went there was not much sun and was a little rainy. Pets are not allowed at this beach and also no alchol. They have bathrooms available that make it convenient. This is one of the best kept secrets in the keys. While it has all the normal stuff parks have, playground, benches, eating area; it also has some things very special, an ocean lagoon swimming area (which is roped off for safety) and more importantly very nice boat ramps. Anyone who doesn't live in the keys, but likes to boat down here knows that ramps can be hard to come by. Harry Harris has proper paved ramps, docks and parking for trailers. Last time I checked it was 5 bucks for non-keys-rats, but I think that is well worth it for how nice it is. read more

Great public boat ramp. When you come out of the canal, you are just north of Tavernier Key and south of Rodriguez Key. Man-made lagoon/beach similar to Matheson Hammock's. Except the view here is immensely better. They have a playground, covered pavilions... what else do you need? Oh yeah, it could be free. If you can prove residency its free. (Bring a phone bill to the Keys house you own if your driver's license says your primary residence is else where.) But it's only $5 bucks, and only on the weekends and holidays. read more

We discovered this place while driving through Key Largo. It is very quiet and private, there might be a few families with children but it's still very private and quiet. I believe this is man made beach, so the sand is not that deep but it is pretty clean. The lagoon is pretty small though, so it's not a great place if you're looking for big waves or deep water. I would go here if you're looking for a place to escape the chaos of the Keys while still enjoying the sun and water. It's great for a nice picnic, some romantic time in the sun, and maybe teach little kids to swim. read more

This little park was difficult for us to find. We have made several attempts to find this park and after visiting kind of wish we didn't. The park charges for entry and there wasn't an attendant when we were there so we got in free, yea! The parking lot is small and they have a park that was ok. The beach area was less than desirable there was a severe lack of sand. The swim area is sheltered lagoon with water entering through popes in the rocks. The water was stagnant and warm which is a great combination if your bacteria. The ground was muddy in areas and just not what I like in a beach. We went to the outside of the rock area and it was a little nicer. The facilities were some of the worse I've seen at a park. The restroom was just disgusting and I know it is not the park staffs fault it the people that visit. I just expected a little more after seeing the great reviews of this park. So this one is checked off the list and can't say Ill ever go back. read more
