Very pretentious store catering to the wrong crowd. The first floor is catered to young peacocks and flamingos working in entry corporate jobs thinking a tight fit suit with garish prints or fabrics makes people think you're a ceo. They even let you finance this stuff online through Knarla now paying 20% interest over 10 monthly payments. 2nd floor is where the old lions and old tortoises shop. These ppl are 50+ to centenarians with a little bit of money but think they are CEO's when they are either middle management or semi retired fogies working in corporate Calgary. These dapper gentlemen's come in wearing the canali suit purchased back in 2014 looking to buy new shirts and ties trying to fool people into thinkings they are rich. In both cases it's clear this store caters mainly to pretenders who kinda sorta have money or blowing away their company pension cheques. If you go there with intention to buy Zegna or brunello cucinelli and your not 50+ or centenarian or looking to finance with 20% interest, you will get shown the exit subtly by the sales staff who never dealt with any real high net worth customers before. FYI not everyone walks around hood rich carrying their bank account in their pockets or has a 50k credit card that has to get maxed out each month. TLDR if you have money, don't spend it at this store. Go to the retailer directly. read more

Why would I pay 30 dollars more for a Tom Ford cologne at your store that I can get at Holt renfrew for cheaper

Traveling from Edmonton to Calgary to attend an important meeting. Realized one hour out from Calgary that I left my slacks back home. Called ahead to Harry Rosen and asked if they could help me find and tailor a pair between 4.50 and 5.30. The team asked me my sizes and preferences and offered to have their tailors to stay back a few minutes to make the adjustments. I arrived, ushered immediately upstairs, where another team member had my slacks by the dressing room. They were perfect, we made adjustments, they gave them to the standing by tailor, and I was out in 25 minutes, slacks in hand. I always get great service in Edmonton (thanks Shiraz!), and it was repeated in a very gracious and efficient way in this store. In the future, if/when I shop for clothes in Calgary, I start here. Very disappointing service for expensive prices. We ordered a custom bow tie and were told it would take 2-4 weeks. After 6 weeks and no calls we followed up and were told by Dallas that he made an error in the order. He also told us that he made an error and that we owed $10 more, but it's only $10 which shouldn't be a problem for us! When I came in store to pick up I asked why the extra $10 and he said it was because we didn't order multiple ties. The gentleman I spoke to a week prior to ordering through Dallas quoted the same price we originally paid. I don't mind paying an Extra $10, but not for a mistake that was not ours. The lack of communication was the worst part, as it was for our wedding. I asked again why it took 8 weeks, and he said he didn't know. I've worked customer service, mistakes happen, but you don't ask your customer to pay for your mistakes. The men that work there are completely commission driven, not customer service based. Dallas is very judgemental and even tried to upsell me accessories after this whole situation! I will never shop at Harry Rosen again or recommend it to anyone, there are many other options to purchase nice men's attire with great service. read more

More recently, the sales person I we delt with the other day was stuck up and arrogant. My brother and I were in the store looking for a suit for his wedding. My brother was trying a suit on and I asked my brother if he liked the stitching on the suit. It happened to be a suit that had extra visible stitching around the collar and pockets. The salesperson interjected and said, "all GOOD suits have that kind of stitching." Really? Do you think we're that naive? We thanked him for his time and said we'd think about it. He rudely dismissed us without a reply so we just walked out. I'm never spending my money here again. I cannot back a company who allows their employees to have such an attitude. You'd think that a more upscale store would want to have friendly and professional staff on hand. read more

This probably seems a little strange to have a female review a menswear store. But my brother and husband have a love for this store, and I'm always the female approval. First off, my husband just installed a print that is behind the counter of Harry Rosen, wicked piece. My brother and now my husband have Elbert Lee as their personal shopper, and he is awesome. We've actually all became friends over the course of shopping there and so forth. They have a great selection, huge store (2 levels) and lots of brands to chose from. You can be anywhere from your 20's to your 70's and there will be a style or piece that you can rock. All the sales staff are friendly and helpful, and will ensure you are taken care of while there. Unless you are on a mission for one certain item, it can be a lengthy process to go there and get some new digs. I personally don't mind, but just keep that in mind if you are looking for a new outfit and don't have a lot of time to spend. They are pricey, but I can say, the clothes are worth the money. There is quality in the garments, they last a long time and look good for a long time as well. If you have a special guy in your life, ladies treat him to something he deserves. read more

My husbands favourite store! We always come in to see Elbert who is AMAZING to work with. He picked out a gorgeous Armani suit for my husband with matching Tom Ford tie, gorgeous cufflinks, pocket squares for all the groomsmen and a crisp shirt. He also found complimentary Hugo Boss shirts and ties for the groomsmen. He is a joy to work with and we look forward to coming back for more shopping! read more

If you want an arrogant shopping experience, this is the place for you! Be prepared to pay exorbitant prices, and be looked at with disdain should you ask a question, or for clarification on an item. Let's not forget the grossly over packaged finish to the experience. They would suggest tissue paper, a box and a bag to carry a T-shirt out of the store. What world are they living in? He was an ideal brand ambassador for Rosen... knowledgable, not pushy, very patient and he really got to know what I wanted. Great work. I will be back! read more

Harry Rosen at the Core is slowly becoming my go-to place for business attire. I got my first tailored suit there about a year ago, and have recently found their own brand of Harry Rosen shirts to fit me perfectly, so I plan on getting more. The guy I deal with, Scott, really takes the time to get to know my clothing needs. They really know their stuff on sizes, and even recommends getting off-the-rack clothes tailored to fit you better. If you can afford it, I highly recommend you try some of their clothes for fit. read more

If you're under 30, don't expect to get serviced until you complain to a manager. Only in Canada (or maybe Europe) can such piss-poor service prevail. The salesmen remind me of the canaduh customs guys at airports who sit on their ass in the searching area and don't serve the lineup of people until they see a ripe target (read, minority with lots of luggage that looks lost) that they can net a huge seizure of Alleive or some marginally illegal over the counter drug from. Only, that these sales guys profile 30+ year old men and they lean against clothing racks instead of sitting in $1500 ergonomic chairs. The salesman that I had before the manager never asked what I wanted and instead assumed I was looking for my first ever suit. I told him that my thighs are bigger than the average 34 waist and that tapering should be a minimum because of my size 12 feet (think sideshow bob), but he just immediately 3 suits that had a ridiculous straight leg fit. Their clothes cost 20% more than what you'd find in the USA (this is AFTER you calculate exchange AND the 5% GST you'd have to pay at the border), and in the USA, they treat you like, you know, a customer that is paying above the median price for something. Honestly, if I want to buy footwear or a suit off the rack, I'll just go to Kenneth Cole. Or H&M because I can puke on a suit and not feel guilty about it. It's too bad that HR has a monopoly (the other HR, Holt Renfrew, does not count as quality competition) over quality menswear in this city. However, I agree with Yo U.; the sales here are pretty damn good, especially their made to measure events. And by good, I mean, a little bit less than full price in the US. read more

Ultra luxury and snobby retailer. I decided one day to vist Harry Rosen's new flagship store since they made such a big hype over it on the Patterson billboards. In addtion I wanted to treat myself to some Rock and Republic jeans. The store looks nice indeed, with nice fixtures and fittings. When I walked in I saw a bunch of sales assocates standing around. They look at you from head to toe, judging you and seeing if you worth helping. I was not helped but a couple near by probably within arm's lengh away from me had been asked if they needed help only due to there Louis Vuitton purse, and fancy Armani suiting. Then I decided to leave since I assumed my social class was not served at there shop. I then decided to travel to Holt Renfrew knowing they had carried Rock and Republic jeans. When i entered into the mens section soon followed were sales associates asking if I need some help, or asking how my day was going. I finally ended buying the pair of jeans and leaving with a pink HR bag. I then decided to try a little experiment, entering into Harry Rosen but with my lovely HR bag, the results were expected. Entering allured a stampede of sales associates asking me if I need help. I concluded that I would never reccomend anyone to shop at Harry Rosen, specially when Holts is down the hall. read more

I bought a $800 Boss jacket from Harry Rosen Bankers Hall Calgary. After a year the sleeve liner started to fall apart everywhere. I took it in and they said "it happens" and I had to pay to have it fixed. I'll never go there again. read more

I bought two suits and a shirt. All custom made. The process took about three months. The suits were nice but nothing special. The shirt took forever, and they never did get it to fit. Finally, I just gave up and took it to a local tailor to get fixed. Really, I was surprised the the inability of the guys at H. Rosen to make a quality custom made shirt; it should have been their strength. Anyway, in the time it took them to make one ill-fitting shirt I was able to go online to Indochino and get perfect fitting custom-made shirts for a third the cost. read more

I purchased the trifecta from H. Rosen; I paid retail, I bought a suit and I bought a label. The experience was surprisingly unpleasant. As it turned out, I need the suit altered as I lost weight. The sales reps at H. Rosen are obessed with new sales of a limited list the fickle nouveau riche in Calgary; clearly they are not interested in establishing /maintaining a loyal customer list. They failed to alter my suit according to my requirements and had the nerve to tell me it would be a month (on Nov 29 I was told delivery would be Dec 23rd) before it could be actually altered to original specifications I asked for two weeks previous. I have zero interest in doing any business with them as there are way, WAY better options in Calgary. Brooks Brothers is here spring 2010 and Holt Renfrew opened a GREAT new store (and the staff are gracious and attentive). H. Rosen stands for faux pretense...I am not. read more
